SCOTT, Leonard N., 78, died peacefully on May 30, 2000 in Tucson, Arizona. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Sophie; by his children, Bonnie Mackintosh (Graham) of San Diego, California, Wesley Scott of Park Ridge, Illinois; and stepchildren, Bill Hedrich (Jean) of Bloomingdale, Illinois and Carol Traub (Ronald) of Des Plaines, Illinois. There are six grandchildren as well.
Leonard was born in Winnipeg, Canada, and spent many years working as a food broker in Chicago. He was also a longstanding member of the Shriner's. He and his wife have resided in Tucson for the past eight years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Carondelet Hospice, 1802 W. St. Mary's Rd., Tucson, AZ 85745, in memory of Leonard.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 750 W. Chapala, on Thursday, June 8, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Carla Williams will officiate.
Future services will also be held in Elgin, Illinois at a date to be determined.

Went to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness, he was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Born January 13, 1937 in Benton, Ark. preceded in death by daughter, Janet L. Dawson; parents, William ‘Bill' and Violetta; brother, Ronnie. RIPKA, Eleanor G., 80, passed away on May 29, 2000 after a short battle with Alzheimer's. 'Ellie' was preceded in death by her parents, John L. and Leah G. Ripka. She has two surviving relatives, Jean Hornberger and Evelyn Sebestyen of Trenton, NJ. Ellie lived a long and independent life following her retirement from Valley National Bank in 1981. All who knew her, her friends and her co-workers, will dearly miss her. Funeral Services will be held at ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. He was WWII Navy veteran, serving on the USS Dixie as a Chief Machinist, in the South Pacific. He was also a life long Lutheran and was currently attending the Body of Christ Free Lutheran Church. BUD SCHALLER, 79, died peacefully at home June 5, 2000, after a long struggle with cancer. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Bud was generous and caring with everyone he encountered. He will be greatly missed by his family, his church, his neighborhood and all who came to call him 'friend' over these many years.
Marcel F. 'Bud' Schaller was born June 9, 1920, in the small farming community of Fordyce, Nebraska. Two years later, he relocated to Tucson with his parents, Ed and Elizabeth Schaller, brother, Richard and sister, Charlotte (Romanoski), arriving by train on Christmas Eve 1922. Bud was a member of the first graduating class at Saints Peter and Paul School, and went on to graduate from Tucson High School in 1938. Bud enlisted in the US Navy in July 1942 and served as a Machinist's Mate First Class on the aircraft carrier USS Prince William. Upon discharge, he received the WWII Victory Medal for his three years of service in the Asiatic-Pacific campaign.
After the war, Bud returned to Tucson, where he resumed his career with the US Post Office. On September 14, 1946, he married
Jeanette Marie Beno at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Together they raised four children, Dave, Jim, Gail, and Ann. They will all miss him dearly.
Bud worked for the Tucson Post Office until his retirement in 1977. At the time of his retirement, he was the highest seniority mail carrier in the city. Earlier this year, he was recognized for his sixty year membership in the National Association of Letter Carriers. Bud was a lifelong member of Saints Peter and Paul Parish, where he was active for many years in the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Bud also was a member of the Salpointe High School Dads Club during the years that his four children attended the school. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Nature Conservancy and the USS Prince William Association. A dedicated baseball fan, Bud said shortly before his death that he had gotten tired of sticking around waiting for the Red Sox to win the World Series.
Bud is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette; children, David of Denver, CO, James (Deborah) of Colville, WA, Gail (James) Bramhall of Leesburg, VA, and Ann (Dave) Prugh of Sayre, PA; and nine grandchildren, Melissa, Jessica, Christopher, David, Katrina, Jacob, Tyler, Hannah, and Nathan. Bud was preceded in death by his brother, Richard, and is survived by his sister, Charlotte Romanoski of Tucson.
Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2000 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church (Campbell and Lee St.), with a Rosary at 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow. Cactus #2, American Legion #0011 and B.P.O.E. #955 and a retired Pipefitter at Phelps Dodge.
