COLBURN, Evelyn C., age 92, of Tucson, passed away Monday, June 12, 2000. Born in Chicago, IL on December 30, 1907, spending some time in Danville, IL, and later 29 years in Tucson. Retiring as secretary/clerk from the PCOA in 1995. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, George M. Colburn. She is survived by her daughter, Nora Colburn of Tucson; and cousins, Gladys (Verl) Dwyer and their son, Michael Dwyer of Merced, CA. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 16, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. in ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd., burial will take place in Chicago. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pima Council on Aging.

CRUZ, Maria C., 96, of Tucson died Friday, June 9, 2000. preceded in death by her husband, Abraham R. Cruz; and son, Alfred Herbert Cruz. She is survived by son, Robert L. Cruz. Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 16, 2000 at St. Augustine Cathedral, 192 S. Stone Avenue, with Bishop Gerald R. Barnes of San Bernardino, CA officiating. Interment in Mountain View cemetery, Casa Grande. Visitation will be at ARIZONA MORTUARY UNIVERSITY CHAPEL, 7 E. University Blvd. on Thursday, June 15, 2000 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m.

diCOSOLA, Richard Dominic, 72, born July 15, 1927. Concluded his life at Veterans Hospital on May 28, 2000. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Septimo and Rose diCosola; and his two sisters, Clarissa Marroquin and Patricia Lea Sayers. Survived by his loving children, Catherine and Michael; and his brother-in-law, Gordon 'Rex' Sayers. Richard served honorably in the United States Marine Corps. He also enjoyed his career in education in Tucson which was followed by an executive position in Sarasota, Florida. Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 15, 2000 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL. Cryptside Service 9:00 a.m., Friday, June 16, 2000 at Holy Hope cemetery. DRAKE, Sarah 'Marie', age 83, of Tucson, AZ passed away after a long illness on June 13, 2000. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Leon; daughter Rita Moore (Don); son, Denver (Beverly); three grand-children, Michael Stewart, Donna Martin Leon 'Bud' Drake; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews. Friends may call 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2000 at the ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. at Magee. Wilhemina C. Ebeck (Wilhe Verdugo), 50 years old, entered into rest May 23, 2000 in Vacaville, CA. She was born June 29, 1949 in Tucson, AZ. A Memorial Mass will be held 6:00 p.m. June 16, 2000 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Chapel, 215 S. Craycroft, Tucson, AZ. She was a graduate of Salpointe Catholic High School, Pima College and Cosmetology School. preceded in death by mother, Carmela Verdugo; granddaughter, Gabriella Ebeck. Survived by husband, Douglas T. Ebeck; children, Jacquelyn, Deanne, Lara, and Derrick all of Vacaville, CA; father, Manuel B. Verdugo; brother, Rene Verdugo both of Tucson; and sister, Gina Verdugo-Mulkey of Phoenix; also survived by six grandchildren.

FANNING, Larry Prosser, died June 9, 2000. He is survived by his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Roy L. Fanning, Sr.; brother, Roy L. Fanning, Jr.; sisters, Sandra Drake and Judith Sharp; son, Roy L. Fanning, III; daughter, Patrice Fanning; and aunt, Mary Mullins. Proceeded in death by his brother, James Fanning. He was employed as a support coordinator with the AZ Dept. of Economic Security, Division of Development Disabilities. An informal memorial service will be held at HUDGEL'S SWAN FUNERAL HOME, 22nd & Swan on Thursday June 15 at 10:00 a.m. No flowers, please. Plant a tree for Larry.

LATHAM, Ervan L., 88, of Tucson, passed away June 12, 2000. preceded in death by sons, Gary and Dohn; grandson, Timothy; and sister, Gertrude Finney. Survived by wife of sixty-six years, Carol; eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and seven step-great-grandchildren. Memorial Service 9:00 a.m., Friday, June 16 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to TMC Hospice or St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

John E. Miller, SMSgt. USAF (Ret), 70, of Tucson. Born June 12, 1929 in Rienzi, MS he was the second youngest of five children, and died June 10, 2000 in Tucson. He worked on the family farm until 1950 when he enlisted in the United States Air Force. John served for twenty eight years and was involved in the Japanese occupation, Korean conflict and Vietnam war. After his retirement from the military he began working full time at Evergreen Air Center where he stayed until the time of his passing. He was a special man who devoted his life to taking care of others. He will be greatly missed by his three grandchildren, brother, sisters and all of his friends. preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Jewel Miller. Survived by granddaughters, Kimberly Ann Coleman and Jennifer Lynn Coleman; grandson, Alexander David Coleman; brother, Col. William Miller; sisters, Betty Fox and Jewel Reinheart. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 15, 2000 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Graveside service will be held 9:00 a.m. Friday, June 16, 2000 at East Lawn Palms cemetery.

DONALD RIVERS - Retired Detroit businessman, passed away June 11 in Tucson, Arizona after a long illness. Don is survived by his wife Carolyn, daughters Paula and Laurel Rivers, and son-in-law Steve McConnell of San Francisco, California, and daughter Sharon Chesley and granddaughters Rachel and Jessica of Milford, Michigan, and brothers, Charles and Richard Rivers and their families. Visitation will be from 5pm-9pm Wednesday, June 14, at Northrup-Sassaman Funeral Home, 19091 Northville Road, Northville, Michigan. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, June 15, at 1pm at Nothrup-Sassaman Funeral Home with internment at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens. ANITA 'BETTY' STRICKLAND, 84, a lifetime resident of Tucson, passed away on June 12, 2000. Survivors include her children, Susan (Terry) DeJonghe, Judy (Peter) Hammerton, Jim (Gloria) Strickland; grandchildren, J.P. (Kathy), Susie, Jeremy, Michael, David, Ryan James; great-granddaughter, Katie Sims; brother, Col. William J. (Mary Louise) Sims, USMC, Ret.; sister, Doll (Hugh) Simpson, plus numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, John William 'Bill' Strickland and her daughter, Margaret Caroline 'Peggy' Strickland. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. CARLOTA CAVALETTO VAN DEVENTER, 89, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away in Riverside, CA, June 7, 2000.
preceded in death by parents, Augustine and Maria Cavaletto; husband, Homer Van Deventer; five sisters; and two brothers.
Survived by daughters, Helen M. (Frank) Nides and Jean R. Garcia of San Diego, CA. Also survived by eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 16, 2000 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m., at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, South Chapel, 240 S. Stone Ave., with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered Saturday, June 17, 2000, 10:30 a.m. at Santa Cruz Church. Interment to follow at Holy Hope cemetery. Ray O. Weaver, 80, died June 10, 2000. He was born on March 23, 1920, in Petrolia, Texas, near Wichita Falls. He attended several schools throughout the southwest, finally settling in Tucson in 1936. He attended Tucson High School and the University of Arizona, graduating in 1942 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He immediately went to work with General Electric in Schenectady, New York, and Ontario, California, where he met his future wife, Barbara Lee. Ray served in the Navy during World War II, 1944 to 1946, aboard the Landing Craft LST 715, which took part in the actions off Okinawa, Saipan and Iwo Jima. After the war, Ray was selfemployed in the family business until 1965 when he made a career change, becoming a stockbroker and working for a succession of firms, the most recent being Prudential Bache. He served on the Tucson City Council representing Ward 6 from 1958 to 1962. He retired in 1988 to spend time traveling and enjoying his favorite pastimes, reading, listening to classical music and studying and speaking the Spanish language. Ray was an armchair philosopher and loved a good conversation, always willing to learn something new.
Ray was predeceased by his parents and his brother Donald Weaver. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara, by his four children Steven, Joan, Jim and Joyce; and by his granddaughter Julia. A memorial service will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 4831 E. 22nd St., on Saturday, June 17, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations, in memory of Ray O. Weaver, to Odyssey Healthcare Foundation, C/O 1730 E. River Road, Suite 107, Tucson, AZ 85718, or to the Arizona Cancer Center, C/O Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, 1515 N. Campbell, Room 1978, P.O. ANDERSON, Annie Mae, 85, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 13, 2000. She was born June 10, 1915 in Tattnall County Georgia.
She is survived by son, Larry (Lupe) Anderson; daughter-in-law, Isabel Anderson; grandchildren, Barry Jr., Monica Anderson, Lupita Landers, Lonnie Anderson, Dian Ortiz, Richard, Larry B., and Christopher Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Anderson; son, Barry Anderson; her father, Lonnie C. Tootle; and her mother, Cassie Mae Tootle.
Visitation will be held at MARTINEZ FUNERAL CHAPEL, on Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 16, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at MARTINEZ FUNERAL CHAPEL. Burial will follow at South Lawn cemetery.

RICHARD D. CLOCK - Retired TUSD and Muncie, IN teacher and coach, was born in Muncie, April 22, 1933 and departed our lives on June 13, 2000. He and his family moved to Tucson in 1965.
Dick was the owner/manager of Tru-Craft Construction Co.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Jacqueline; his dear children, Kristi (Michael), Linda (Dennis), Daniel (Renee), Elizabeth (Larry), Chris (Scott), as well as his precious grandchildren, Andriana, Anthony, Janae, Rachael, Ryan, Kendall, Andrew, Kayla, Jason, Brian and Kyle.
He is further survived by his sister, Phyllis (Jack); sisters-in-law, Rosemary, Dorothy, Betty; and brothers-in-law, Junior (Dorothy), Ken (Susie), Ron (Alice), David (Ingrid), Tom (Marsha); several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Preceding Dick in death were his parents, Grace and Bert; sister, Donna; and brothers, Paul, Talmadge, Gene, Gilbert and Carl.
God has blessed our lives by sharing with us this beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend.
We give special thanks to his doctors and staff, the Carondelet Hospice staff, with special gratitude to Carolyn and Mary, and to Rev. Billy Still and staff of the St. Paul Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dick's memory to the U. of A. Cancer Research Center or the Carondelet Hospice.
Memorial services will be at the EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant on Saturday, June 17, at 10:00 a.m., with graveside services immediately following.
