GENTRY, Ruth, 92, of Tucson, passed away May 20, 2000 in Tucson. One son, Lowell Keller of Tucson, survives her.

Mrs. Gentry was born September 18, 1907 in Chicago, Illinois to Robert Ewing and Olga (Nelson) Ewing. She worked for many years in Cleveland, Ohio, as a Supervisor of the Auditing Department for Sears Roebuck and traveled extensively on the company's behalf.
She was a member of Eastern Star and a long-time beloved member of Northside Christian Church.
LUMUS, Francis Berniece, has departed from our lives on June 12, 2000 at the age of 63. She was born to James and Ruby O'Dea Murphy on December 23, 1936 at St. John's Newfoundland, Canada. Frances became a naturalized citizen of the United States in the mid 1950's. She was a resident of Tucson, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roger Clint Lumus in 1995. She is survived by her daughters, Sandy and Cindy.
Francis you will be missed dearly by your Tucson family and friends. You will always be remembered. Thank you for the loving memories and the love that you left in our hearts. We love you and God Bless You. May You Rest in Peace.

PREDMORE, Ruby Jones, 84, of Tucson, AZ, passed away June 13, 2000. She was born October 12, 1915 in Milowest, Virginia. Ray O. Weaver, 80, died June 10, 2000. He was born on March 23, 1920, in Petrolia, Texas, near Wichita Falls. He attended several schools throughout the southwest, finally settling in Tucson in 1936. He attended Tucson High School and the University of Arizona, graduating in 1942 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He immediately went to work with General Electric in Schenectady, New York, and Ontario, California, where he met his future wife, Barbara Lee. Ray served in the Navy during World War II, 1944 to 1946, aboard the Landing Craft LST 715, which took part in the actions off Okinawa, Saipan and Iwo Jima. After the war, Ray was selfemployed in the family business until 1965 when he made a career change, becoming a stockbroker and working for a succession of firms, the most recent being PrudentialBache. He served on the Tucson City Council representing Ward 6 from 1958 to 1962. He retired in 1988 to spend time traveling and enjoying his favorite pastimes, reading, listening to classical music and studying and speaking the Spanish language. Ray was an armchair philosopher and loved a good conversation, always willing to learn something new.
Ray was predeceased by his parents and his brother Donald Weaver. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara, by his four children Steven, Joan, Jim and Joyce; and by his granddaughter Julia. Parents: Joseph B. Welborn and Edna Soulhard. Survived by loving wife, Jean Carpenter Welborn. Children: Denise Jensen (Tom), Larry Welborn (Karrie), Chris Welborn (Nora Rankin), Lea Clunie, Teresa Welborn (Dean Christoffel), Laureen Welborn, Michele Young (Jeff); four stepchildren, Victor J. Mergard (Hisa), Melinda Heald (Bartlett), Martha Freed (Neil), Cynthia Hofter (Lawrence); 19 total grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and one precious sister, Ednamary Gahafer of Oregon.
Joe's military career began as an Army Private in 1935, rapidly and honorably rising up the ranks to become a Lt. Colonel in the Air Force. En route he attended Yale University and M.I.T. He saw service in WWII in Algiers, Africa, singly survived a desert air crash, worked for Gen Eisenhauer and had several Pentagon tours. He replaced radio beacons in Newfoundland, had tours in Japan and on to Korea, in 1951, in charge there of all Air Force Communications in North Korea, including vital weather reporting. Upon higher military request he manned, trained, and equipped the 1803rd AACS Squad for tour in Alaska. While there, he installed all radar, radio, and telephone equipment where there had been no such communication. This made possible the surveillance of Russia and Siberia. He retired military August 1957 at Davis Monthan AFB. After owning/operating a radio and television store in Tucson for several years, he joined the city of Tucson, becoming Administrator of Tucson's Communication Division from 1967 to 1976. During this time he established Tucson's 911 system also becoming an Honorary Fire Chief. A wonderful human being, he will be sorely missed by his loving family and many friends.

Mary 'Auntie Mame – Tia Maria – Mamie' Molina Aguirre, 99, of Tucson, passed away June 14, 2000.
She was born in the Rincon Valley at the 'El Rincon Ranch', April 18, 1901. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luz and Fulgencio Molina; brother, Fulgencio Molina; sisters, Ruth Gallardo, Hortencia Aguilar, Alicia McCoy and Amalia Sainz.
Auntie Mary is survived by her brother, Manuel Molina of Lakewood, CA; sisters, Anita Salazar of Los Angeles, CA, Elvira Felix of Tucson; sister-in-law, Connie Molina and many nieces and nephews.
Tia Maria was sent to live in Tucson with her Aunt Maria and Uncle Albert Moreno because she was ill and needed care in the city. They raised her until she got married
. Auntie Mame was a proud alumni of Davis, Roskruge, and T.H.S. She attended many reunions of the class of 1919. Mary Molina married
Alberto Felix Aguirre on Christmas day, 1926. They were true and devoted lovebirds for 69 years. They were never separated for 69 years until Alberto died in 1995. Mary worked for Pima County for 40 years, first for Charles Taylor in the Assessors Office and with Grace Gibson O'Neal in the Clerk of the Superior Court Office. Tia Maria had no children but helped raise, counsel, and support over 67 nieces and nephews of the Molina, Pellon, and Aguirre families. Her special gift to nieces and nephews was to pay for their marriage licenses and then record them with the county. Auntie Mary was a special friend and a loving, caring Aunt and role model. On behalf of Aunt Mary and the Aguirre – Molina families we give Mil Gracias to Gilda and Louie Pellon for being her special guardian angels and we thank God for giving this special woman to us for 99 years.

RODRIGUEZ, Juanita M., passed away June 15, 2000. Born May 12, 1909 in Santa Ana, Sonora, Mexico to Justo and Refugio Montoya. After her mothers death, she was raised by Roman and Luz Duran in Duquesne, AZ and Tucson, AZ. After attending Safford Elementary and Junior High Schools, she graduated from cosmetology school and worked at that profession for many years. She lovingly cared for her ill mother and aging father until their deaths. She taught Catechism at Santa Cruz Catholic Church for 30 years and worked at the Salpointe Catholic High School cafeteria from 1963-67. She was a devoted wife to her husband of 56 years, Francisco (Pancho 'El Gordito') Rodriguez. Also survived by son, Xavier (Maggie); daughter, Refugio (Ruth 'Cookie'); grandchildren, Ana Cristal and Jose 'Joey'; sisters, Elena Alarcon and Rosario Monreal; brothers, Gilberto Montoya and Francisco Duran. Other survivors include many nieces, nephews, godchildren, relatives and friends whose lives she touched. Special thanks to close family friend, Grace Valenzuela, caregiver, Alma Gutierrez and the TMC Hospice staff for their help and kindness.
