CARPENTER, Linda Morse, age 70, of Tucson, AZ, died Tuesday, June 20, 2000 at her home.
She was born on May 20, 1930, in Long Beach, CA, the daughter of Elmer D. and Dorothy (Ducetta) Morse. Linda attended Lawrence College in Appleton, Wisconsin. She married
William H. Carpenter in 1950.
She is survived by her son, William (Mary Christine) Carpenter of Rochester, NY; grandchildren, Kelly (David) Mor, Joseph, Lisa, Mary, and Thomas Carpenter; and two sisters, Dorothy Mae Rothwell and Mary Kay MacNeil.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 30, 2000, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Green Lake, Wisconsin, where she was a former member. Father John R. Dowd will officiate. Interment will be in Dartford cemetery, Green Lake, Wisconsin.

Clifton H. Lee - Beloved husband of Virginia. Clifton was born August 2, 1924 in Red Boiling Springs, TN and died June 24, 2000 in Tucson. A disabled veteran of WW II, he was a Japanese prisoner-of-war for three years and nine months in the Philippines. Mr. Lee retired in 1983 after 33 years of federal civil service. Harry E. Spaulding, 82, of Tucson, passed away on June 20, 2000. Survivors include his two sons, Phil (Nancy), Larry (Kathy), both of Tempe; five grandchildren, Jeffrey, Lee-Ann, Laura, Jason, Wendy; and one great-grandson, Anthony. Harry was active in Masons, Scottish Rite, and the Sabbar Band. He was chairman of the board of Pima County Federal Credit Union. Harry taught in the Science Department at Flowing Wells High School for 25 years. He was a member of Catalina United Methodist Church for over 40 years, being involved in Homebuilders Sunday School Class. NORMA AZALEE BECKER - A Tucson resident since 1958, went to be with her Lord on Monday, June 26, 2000. She was born in White County, Illinois on June 22, 1910 and just celebrated her 90th birthday.
She is survived by daughters, Norma Sue Clark, Mary Lou (Johnny) Austin; son, John (Mary) Becker; brother, Lewis (Gladys) Gowdy; six grandchildren, Jim, Tammy, Greg, David, Jennifer, Jeffrey; and two great grandchildren, Chad and Cody.
She was a member of Northwest Baptist Church and a memorial service will be held there on Saturday, July 1 at 11:00 a.m. The address is 2926 W. Curtis Rd.

Noel Carter, age 77 passed away on June 24, 2000 after a short illness, at the home of his daughter, with his family at his side. Mr. Carter resided in Tucson since 1959, having only recently relocated to Tempe. He was employed by Pima Mine for 18 years, retiring from Tanner Companies in 1986. He was a member of Operators and Engineers Local #428 out of Tucson. Mr. Carter is survived by his loving wife and constant companion of 54 years, Roene; daughter Noel Ann Davis of Tempe; sons, John (Paula) Carter of Tucson and Hal (Karen) Carter of Mesa; also seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. CONTRERAS, Mariano V., 60, of Phoenix, AZ, was a hard working, loving dad and grandfather. He entered into eternal rest June 24, 2000. He was born July 26, 1939 in Tucson, AZ. He is survived by his loving wife of forty years of marriage, Christina Contreras; two sons, Mariano, Jr. and Gabriel (Maby) Contreras; five daughters, Deniza A. Contreras, Yvonne Millett, Lisa M. (Francisco) Macias, Abigail (Edward) Estrella, and Rosela Contreras; three brothers, Manuel, Jr., William, and Rene Contreras; three sisters, Julia Contreras, Carmen Godoy, and Rosie Herrera; eighteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. deCOOK, Christine Torrey, 87, of Peoria, AZ, passed away on June 24, 2000.
Christine was born in Rogersville, TN and spent her childhood among the hills and wildflowers of eastern Tennessee, before the dam, before electricity, before welfare and Social Security, where 'everyone was poor but they were all good and honest people.'
Upon graduating high school she accompanied one of her sisters to the more healthful climate of southern Arizona and began her new life among the sand and prickly pear, the tall palms and towering Catalina Mountains.
Admitted to the University of Arizona in Tucson, she graduated with distinction in 1934. She always maintained close ties with her Alma Mater and remained a very loyal Wildcat fan.
Christine Torrey met at married
William deCook, raised three children, and had a long, rewarding career in social services, working for the court system in adoption placement and juvenile issues. In 1979 she received from the mayor's office the title of 'Outstanding Citizen of Tucson' in recognition of her 33 years of service to children and families in the city.
After retirement, while helping at a center for the blind, she became interested in pottery making, and created many beautiful pieces painted with authentic designs of the Ildefonso peoples and the ancient Mimbres of New Mexico.
Mrs. deCook was a published poet and at the age of 85 she wrote her first novel. She used her life experiences, her observations and interest, and her childhood memories to celebrate the simple honesty and goodness in people.
She is survived by her daughter, Ann Lanese (Robert); son, Jim DeCook (Rosemary); eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Sergio (Ada) Montero, Joey Pascual III, Edward and Lisa Pascual, Herminia Elias; forty-one great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren.
