LINDSEY, William J., 74, of Tucson, AZ died Saturday, July 15, 2000. MACKEY, John (Jack) P. Beloved husband and father died July 18, 2000. Born October 20, 1923 in Cumberland, MD, and moved to Tucson in 1956.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patricia B.; brother, Henry A. (Margaret) of Phoenix; sons, Jack (Betsy) of Kansas City and Paul (Diane) of Tucson; daughters, Anna Mary of Tucson, Josephine (Matthew) Geyer of Mill Valley, CA, and Nora (James) Encinas of Venice, CA. Jack was blessed by ten grandchildren.
Jack graduated from Georgetown University and served in the American Field Service as an ambulance driver during World War II.
Jack retired in 1988 after a career in real estate appraisal and trial research and preparation.
Over the years Jack volunteered with St. Vincent de Paul, and Primavera Shelter.
Memorial mass will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2000, 3:00 p.m. at Newman Catholic Center, 1615 E. 2nd St.

RAYMOND J. OGLETHORPE
Born July 3, 1917 in Dunbar, PA and passed away July 17, 2000 at Tucson Medical Center Hospice. He was the son of Nora C. and Joseph Oglethorpe. A veteran of the Army, Raymond retired as a Major in the Signal Corp in May 1960 after 20 years of service. He served in the CBI Theater, during WWII and also the Korean War where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He then worked for the US Postal Service for 34 years as a plant manager for the Main Post Office and retired November 1994. Raymond was a member of the VFW, Elks, Moose, and Lapidary Club of Tucson.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha; sons, Terry of Hickory, NC and Raymond Jr., of Great Falls, VA; and sister, Betty Veights of Connellsville, PA. Raymond donated his body to the U of A. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in his name to Tucson Medical Center Hospice.
SWANCUTT, Charles E., 62, of Tucson, passed away on July 17, 2000. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elby and Mary Swancutt; two sisters, Lois and Donna Mae; and two sons, Daniel and Duane. He is survived by his loving wife, Ellen; two sons, Randy (Deva) and Larry; two daughters, Nancy (Todd) and Tanya (Cory); three brothers, Neldon (Della), Maynard (Dorothy) and Niles (Pat); one sister, Shirley; eleven grandchildren and many other loving family members and friends. He was a member of Santa Cruz Lutheran Church and was an avid train collector. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. at Santa Cruz Lutheran Church, 6809 S. THOMPSON, William B. 78, head groundskeeper for University Hospital for 27 years, died Sunday, July 16, 2000.
Loving husband of Carmen; and loving father of RoseMary Jones (Robert), Patty Cheselka (Chuck), Suzanna Varela (Tony), Steven (Ofelia), and Michael (son). He is survived by ten grandchildren, Denise, Bobby, Chris, Tony Jr., William, Sandra, Vanessa, Michael and Bryon; one great-grandchild Dominic; sisters, Johanna Equrrola and Lupe Eckstrom; numerous nieces and nephews; two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by Peter Thompson (father), Guadalupe Thompson (mother), Peter Thompson Jr. (brother).
He served in the Army during World War II having attained the rank of PFC. He earned the Silver Star and the Purple Heart.
Visitation will be held at MARTINEZ FUNERAL CHAPEL, on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 20, 2000 at 9:00 a.m. at Santa Cruz Church. Burial will be in South Lawn cemetery.
WILSON, Charles R., 79, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2000. He was born in Wingate, Texas, August 12, 1920. Charlie served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was one of the few survivors of the 'D-Day' attack on Omaha Beach, July 6, 1944. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Emily; his two children, John Wilson and Jerilyn Ciacci, both of Colorado; and his loving furry friends, Boots and Daisy. Services have been held.
