Dona Carol Fisher

Dona Carol Fisher, 60, of Silver City, N.M., passed away Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at Gila Regional Medical Center. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Bisbee, Ariz., with Bishop Tommy Shelly officiating.
Dona was born Dona Carol LaRue on Dec. 1, 1938, in Tempe, Ariz. Her family moved to Bisbee in 1941. She attended Lowell School and Bisbee High School. She marriage Clarence Coleman Fisher on Sept. 9, 1955, recently celebrating 44 years of marriage. Her oldest son Michael was born in October 1963, followed by Richard in 1968. In 1970 the family moved to Silver City. Donas life was marked by her service to others, through her church activities and genealogy and through participation in the scouting program. She was employed by Dr. Deming and later by the Hester House. She will be missed as a devoted wife, loving daughter and sister, wonderful mother and caring grandmother. We love you.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence; two sons, Michael Coleman Fisher of Washington, D.C., Richard Stephen Fisher and Eileen of Silver City; a brother Dean (Pat) LaRue of Safford, Ariz.; two sisters, Patsy (Ed) Farwell of Duncan, Ariz., and Linda (Howard) Gardner Howard of Bisbee; her mother, Ruth Holly and stepbrother Ed (Martha) Holly both of Bisbee; five grandchildren, Jessica and Kyra Fisher both of Laurel, Md.; Kristen, Justin and Troy Fisher, all of Silver City.
She was preceded in death by her father, Isaac; two brothers, William LaRue and Larry Holly; stepfather, Arthur A. L. Holly; stepbrothers, Pee Wee Holly and Smokey Holly; and an infant son.
Brothers, sons and nephews will be pallbearers. Family and friends will be honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Silver City.
Arrangements are by Bright Funeral Home in Silver City.
Madaline Conelly Covert
Dec. 21, 1921 - Feb. 2, 2000
Madaline Conelly Covert, 78, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, in Tucson. She had been a Sierra Vista resident for seven years.
Madaline was born in Macomb, Ill. in 1921, and moved to San Diego, Calif. in 1962. She moved to Sierra Vista, in 1993, where she worked at the Bella Vista Motel, until she became ill in 1996.
Madaline was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, in 1970 and her daughter, Lois, in 1976. She is survived by her daughter, Carole Covert McWhorter (Eldon) of Bedford, Texas; three granddaughters, Janet Myers (Dennis) of San Diego, Calif., Jody Eaton (Warren) of Sierra Vista, Jill Jones (Jimmy) of Tucson; one grandson, Jared Schotanus (Tiffany) of San Diego, Calif.; and nine great-grandchildren, Daryl and Chelsea Myers, Erich and Emma Eaton, Stephanie, Kimberly, Gavin and Lindsay Jones, and Jordan Schotanus.
The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Walshaw, and the staff at Gambro dialysis for their concern and care given to her during her illness.
Warren Herman Mangels
July 23, 1922 to Feb. 23, 2000
Herm Mangels passed away Feb. 23, 2000. He was born July 23, 1922, in Davenport, Iowa, to Herman Henry and Ruth Hokinson Mangels. He was schooled at the Western Military Academy and Roosevelt Military Academy, both in Illinois.
He was a pioneer in computer science and technology. He began his civil service with the Department of the Navy, moving later to the private sector as director of research and development for American Airlines, his most proud achievement.
Before moving to Sierra Vista, Ariz., he spent a year as general manager of Aircraft Supplies in Nutley, N.J.
He was a World War II veteran and retired at Fort Huachuca with 30 years of federal service.
Herm is survived by his wife, Sally of Sierra Vista; sons, Gary W. Mangels of Redding, Calif., and Kurt H. Mangels (Sue Ann) of Woodbridge, Va.; grandchildren Steven, Ryan, Gary, Danny, and Kristine; sister-in-law Helen M. Marvin of Sierra Vista; two nephews; and niece Lisa (Leslie) Halsey of Sierra Vista.
Memorial services will be conducted by the Masonic Lodge Huachuca No. 53 at noon Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at Jensen's Sierra Vista Mortuary, a block east of Highway 92 at Ramsey Road.

Leilani Lois Cherpak

Leilani Lois Cherpak, 61, of Caballo, N.M., entered eternal life on Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, in William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. She was born, Oct. 28, 1937, in Puyallup, Wash. Mrs. Cherpak had been a resident of Caballo for the past five years after coming from Huachuca City, Ariz. She retired from civil service as an accountant on Fort Huachuca.
Survivors include her loving husband, Ronald A. Cherpak of the family home; two sons, Robert Soll and wife Jeannie of Clearlake, Calif., and Greg DeMerit Sr. and wife Debbie of Tucson, Ariz.; four daughters, Marla DeMerit of Tucson, Melissa DeMerit of Vacaville, Calif., Tanya Smith of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Deanna Montgomery of Midland, Texas; a brother, Earl Rice of Puyallup, Wash.; and 13 grandchildren, Glen, John, Aubry, Greg Jr., Jason, Tia, Ryan, Danielle, Amy, Levi, Brigett, J.J. and Kayla.
At Mrs. Cherpak's request, cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held at a later date in Caballo.
Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels and Baca's Mimbres Crematory in Las Cruces, N.M.
Rosemary Aldrich
Dec. 19, 1919 - Sept. 19, 1999
Rosemary Aldrich, 79, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., passed away Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at her residence. She had been a local resident for the past six years.
Rosemary was born Dec. 19, 1919, in Tulare, Calif., to Otto and Ida (Green) Parlier. She traveled the state of California extensively while growing up. She attended Mills College in California and obtained her degree. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by Lee, her husband of 47 years, in 1990. She is survived by her only son, Steven (Mary) Aldrich of Sierra Vista; four grandchildren, Kristen, Stephanie, Frederick and Kenneth; and three great-grandchildren, William, Sam and Byanca.
At the request of Rosemary, no funeral services will be held. Her desire is to have her spirit free as the wind to meet in heaven with her spouse.

Bobby N. Phillips
May 1, 1930 - Sept. 18, 1999
Bobby N. Phillips, 69, of Whetstone, Ariz., passed away Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at the Sierra Vista Regional Health Center. He had been an area resident for more than 40 years.
Bobby was born May 1, 1930, in Daranelle, Ark., to Neil and Modene Phillips. His family moved to the Phoenix area at an early age where he grew up and attended school. After high school, he spent four years in the Navy as an electrician in a construction battalion. He started work at Fort Huachuca in January 1957, working at Raymond W. Bliss Hospital and also at Greely Hall before becoming chief of the electrical section. He retired from civil service after 29 years.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Norma Phillips of Whetsone; a daughter, Linda Currier of Dexheim, Germany; a son, Rodrick Phillips of Whetstone; a sister, Nancy Marshall of Goodyear, Ariz.; a brother, Harry Phillips of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; and eight grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Friday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m. at the Hatfield Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. H. Lee Erwin officiating. Interment will be private.

Donald Paul Carter

Donald Paul Carter age 65, a nine-year resident of Huachuca City, Ariz., passed away at home Saturday morning, Sept. 18, 1999. He was born Nov. 18, 1933, in Table Rock, Neb., to JP and Margaret Carter.
Donald served his country in the Navy during the Korean War and also as a Merchant Marine. He is a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9972 of Sierra Vista. He also enjoyed golfing the 19th hole on Fort Huachuca when health permitted.
His brother George Carter precedes Donald in death. He is survived by his daughters, Donna Phillips (David) of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Diana Dittmar (David) of Austin, Texas; sisters, Patricia Carlson of Arkansas, Ethel Mosher of Washington and Joann Sommerkorn (Martin) of Arkansas; grandchildren, Cynthia Phillips and Michael Phillips (Laurie); and great-granddaughter Shanee Marie Phillips.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 24, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at Jensen's Sierra Vista Mortuary (One block east of Highway 92 at Ramsey Road). Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. with Pastor Robert Drake officiating. Interment will take place Tuesday, Sept. 28, at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.

Mary Peck

Mary Peck, 69, of Carlisle, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, at Hospice of Dayton, Ohio.
She was born in Wolfe County, Ky., on April 14, 1930, the daughter of Courtney and Elizabeth (Culbertson) Tolson.
Preceding her in death were her parents and husband Clayton Peck In 1990. She is survived by her son, David Peck and wife Ruth of Eaton, Ohio; daughters, Brenda Karns of Miamisburg, Ohio, and Susie Rice of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; brothers, William Tolson of Franklin, Ohio, Fred Tolson of Las Vegas, Porter Tolson of Middletown, Ohio, and Emerson Tolson of Miamisburg, Ohio; sisters, Maxine Wilson, Garnet Neal, Opal Bolin and Ada Shackleford all of Middletown, Ohio; and four grandchildren Beth, Michelle and Travis Peck and Nicholas Rice.
Funeral services will be Monday, Sept. 27, at 1 p.m. at the Unglesby Anderson Funeral Home, 1357 E. Second St. Franklin, Ohio. Burial will be at the Springboro Cemetery, Springboro, Ohio. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420.
Jeanette M. Wohlfarth

Jeanette M. Wohlfarth, 69, a 13-year resident of Sierra Vista, Ariz., passed away at home Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999. She lost her battle with cancer, but she can now rest in peace. She was born Jan. 10, 1930, in El Reno, Okla., to Jasper Dewey and F. (Hahn) Crawford.
Jeanettes ambitions included golfing, traveling and supporting various animal rights groups.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. We love you.
Jeanette is survived by her husband of 46 years, Howard of Sierra Vista; son, Keith Wohlfarth of San Diego; daughters, Susan Call (Gene) of Sierra Vista, Ann Hecht (Mike) of Timberlake, S.D., and Jane Wohlfarth of Los Alamitos, Calif.; sister, Pat Farris of Milan, Mich.; and grandchildren Steven, Troy, Valerie, Aaron, Nathan Rachael.
At her request she will be cremated. No services will be held. No flowers please, but if you desire to make a donation send it to your favorite charity in her memory.

Debbie Burnside

Debbie Burnside, 38, a 13-year resident of Sierra Vista, Ariz., entered into Gods embrace Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at the Sierra Vista Regional Health Center.
She was born March 12, 1961, in Limestone, Maine, to Ira and Viola Burnside.
She was preceded in death by her son, Frankie. Debbie is survived by sons Sean Burnside, Bryan Burnside and Seth Burnside of Sierra Vista; daughter, Tiffany Burnside of Sierra Vista; parents, Ira and Viola Burnside of Newport News, Va.; sisters, Kim Gleave of Sierra Vista and Madelyn Blue of Richmond, Va.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and special friend, Sue Bailey.
Private family services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at Jensen's sierra Vista Mortuary.
