Vannie Viola Upchurch

Vannie Viola Upchurch, 92, passed away in Hermiston, Ore., on Friday, Oct. 22, 1999. Mrs. Upchurch was born in Bismarck, Ark., on March 7, 1907, to A.E. Fendley and Molly Bryant Fendley.
In 1966 she moved to Bisbee, Ariz., where she lived until 1971 when she moved to California and stayed there until 1978, when she moved back to Bisbee following her husbands death. She had been living with her daughters in Oregon for the past four years.
Vannie was a homemaker and enjoyed her family and friends. She loved cooking and baking and was a longtime member of the Senior Center and Association.
Vannie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Hurshel Upchurch in 1978, three sons, William, James and Gene Upchurch, a daughter, Shirley Upchurch, and six brothers.
Survivors include her four sons and daughter-in-laws, Bud and Juanita Upchurch of Bisbee, Ralph and Winnie Upchurch of Reddington, Calif., Jerry and Geneva Upchurch of Thatcher, H.R. and Sharon Upchurch of McDougal, Ark.; six daughters, Kathryn Green of Deport, Texas, Frances Davis of Fort Worth, Texas, Patsy and James Philips of Hermiston, Ore., Rena and Charles Ledford of Hermiston, Ore., Sandra and Clay Widener of Hermiston, Ore., and Carolyn and Dorgan Stiener of Springfield, Ore.; three sisters, Telitha Gay of Longview, Texas, Rachel Lambert of Ector, Texas, and Lillian Kitchen of Longview, Texas; 34 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27, at the First Baptist Church in Bisbee followed by services also at the church at 11 a.m. Burial will follow services at Memory Gardens Cemetery also in Bisbee.

Maria Luisa Carabeo, Mary Lou a Bisbee, Ariz., native of 62 years, passed away Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, in Tucson, Ariz., after a long illness. She was born Feb. 3, 1937, in Bisbee. Her parents were Faustino and Agueda Encinas Carabeo. Mary Lou was handicapped throughout her entire life.
Survivors include brothers Herberto (Josephina) Carabeo, Frank (Maria) Carabeo, Ramon Carabeo, all from Bisbee, and Juan (Carmen) of Morenci, Ariz.; sisters Aurelia (Lorenzo) Gonzales and Angie (Don) Casillas, both from Bisbee; and many nieces and nephews.
Rosary was said at 9:30 a.m. today followed by the celebration of Mass on Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Father Stanley Nadolny will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Bisbee/San Pedro Funeral Homes have been engaged to provide services.
Patricia Ann (Cox) Dysinger
July 25, 1940 - Oct. 25, 1999
Patricia Ann (Cox) Dysinger died Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, at her home in Jerome, Idaho. She was born July 25, 1940, to Robert and Margaret (Wilson) Cox of Lockport, N.Y.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert, in 1987, and her son, Morris, in 1974. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Robert Victor Dysinger of Jerome, Idaho; a son, Robert Carl (Kelly) Dysinger of Tucson, Ariz.; a daughter, Patricia Ann Hammond of Humble, Texas; grandsons, Robert Lee Dysinger of Tucson, and Dallas and Matthew Hammond of Humble, Texas; a granddaughter Elizabeth Mills of California; three great-granddaughters, Angelica, Brittany and Arian of California; her mother Margaret Cox; sister Roberta Hare; brother Thomas (Mary Ann) Cox, all of Lockport, N.Y.; sister-in-law Joyce (David) Storey; brother-in-law David Simpson, both of Sierra Vista; and nieces and nephews in Arizona, Texas and New York.
Pat attended school in Lockport, N.Y., and graduated from Lockport Senior High School in 1958. She marriage Victor Dysinger on Aug. 2, 1958, in Lockport. She was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed being a homemaker and also worked at times as a bookkeeper for various businesses. She enjoyed art, crafts, genealogy and traveling. She and Victor had recently returned from a trip to Alaska.
They lived in Sierra Vista from 1970 to 1972 and had owned and operated Oliver Welding and Machine Shop.
There will be a viewing from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29, at Hove-Robertson Funeral Chapel in Jerome, Idaho. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, at the LDS in Ward 1 in Jerome, Idaho. Her ashes will be scattered on the California coast.
Lydia Lily Ybarra Miranda

Lydia Lily Ybarra Miranda, 63, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., beloved wife and mother, died Oct. 25, 1999. She was born in Superior, Ariz., to Tranquelino and Maria Ybarra on Sept. 4, 1936.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Ray Miranda of Sierra Vista; sons Ray Anthony Miranda (Anna Martinez) of Woodbridge, Va., Ruben Gilbert Miranda (Teresa Babbie) of Sierra Vista, Martin Matthew Miranda (Janelle Weiss) of Mt. Lemmon; daughters Roseanna Susan Lindley (James Lindley) of El Paso, Texas, Lilly Miranda Garland (Kelly Garland) of Sierra Vista, Elizabeth Lisa Luke (Brian Luke) of Tempe, Ariz., and Michelle Miranda of Darien, Conn.; 12 grandchildren; brothers Albert Ybarra, Jose Ybarra, Leopoldo Ybarra, and Richard Ybarra; and sister Gloria Ybarra Ogden.
Her kindness, caring and interminable strength and courage will be missed by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Thomas Robert Anderson

Thomas Robert Anderson died in an auto accident in Germany on Oct. 21, 1999.
Thomas was born in Levelland, Texas, on Jan. 23, 1962, to Richard and Drenda (Fietz) Anderson. Thomas is survived by his parents, Richard and Drenda Anderson of McNeal, Ariz.; his brother, Richard Anderson, Jr. also of McNeal; his maternal grandmother, Christine Kirkpatrick of Salt Lake City, Utah; and his paternal grandfather, Leonard Anderson of Lubbock, Texas. He is also survived by aunts and uncles, Betty (Johnny) Srygley, Myron (Janet) Fietz, John (Brenda) Fietz, Elaine (Bill) Christoffersen, Margaret (Bill Oldham, R.B. (Bernice) Fietz, Michael (Dellanne) Fietz, Phillip (Patti) Fietz, Bill (Peggy) Fietz, and their families.
Thomas graduated from Valley Union High School in Elfrida, Ariz. in 1980. He enlisted in the Army at Fort Huachuca in 1984. Thomas completed basic training at Fort Sill, Okla. At Fort Gordon, Ga., Thomas received the training for his avionics technical career. Thomas was a decorated veteran of Desert Storm. He was assigned to the Raytheon Aerospace program at the time of his death.
Services will be held at noon on Saturday, Oct. 30, in the Brown-Page Mortuary in Douglas, and burial will be at McNeal.
Victor F. Lewandowski
Nov. 15, 1930 - Oct. 27, 1999
Victor F. Lewandowski, 68, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, at the Sierra Vista Regional Health Center. He had been an area resident for the past eight years.
Victor was born Nov. 15, 1930, in Chicago to Edward and Jessie (Wojciechowski) Lewandowski. Victor later marriage Lois Ann Hoff in 1953.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Lewandowski; a son, Thomas Lewandowski, both of Sierra Vista; a sister, Geraldine Mayer of Antiock, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 800 N. Taylor Drive, in Sierra Vista.

Billy L. Pickett
April 14, 1926 - Oct. 27, 1999
Billy L. Bill Pickett, 73, of Hereford, Ariz., died at his home on Oct. 27, 1999, following a short illness. He was born April 14, 1926.
Pickett and his wife came to Arizona from Dayton, Ohio, in 1979 and eventually settled in Hereford.
Pickett was a master mechanic and worked in that field all his life for various automotive fires in Ohio and Arizona, including Star Chevrolet in Sierra Vista, Ariz., from 1979 to 1986. He was a combat veteran of World War II, serving with the 33rd Infantry Division in the liberation of the Philippines, where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9972 in Sierra Vista.
Pickett is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty J. Pickett; a daughter, Cheryl A. Geer of Sierra Vista; two sons, Steven A. and wife Debbie Pickett of Dayton, Ohio, and James C. and wife Valarie Pickett and their two children, James D. and Kayla Jean Pickett, of Coos Bay, Ore.
A memorial date and time will be announced later. Interment will be private.

Fred Henry Grill
July 1, 1929 - Oct. 27, 1999
Fred Henry Grill, born July 1, 1929, took his final trip to join his departed family and friends on a new adventure on Oct. 27, 1999.
Fred was born in Chicago, Ill., to Tillie and Henry Grill. He attended Chicago public schools and excelled at many sports.
He marriage Marianne Walsh on Feb. 16, 1952, and embarked on a 47-year marriage, which produced six children. They raised their children in the Chicago area where he worked as a landscape contractor and architect for the Chicago Park District.
Because of his love for the Southwest, the family relocated to Sierra Vista, Ariz., in November 1978. He affected whomever he met with his strong persistence and his never-ending sense of humor. He was affectionately referred to by his kids as the Dad-Man, and he was truly the King of Corn.
Fred and Marianne were fortunate enough to spend the last four summers in a home they purchased in Rigby, Idaho. There, he enjoyed fishing on his boat, drinking beer and traveling throughout Montana and Wyoming.
We love him more than anything and words cannot express how deeply we will miss him. Our only comfort is knowing he is no longer suffering and he will be watching over us always.
Fred is survived by his wife, Marianne of Sierra Vista; daughters Kathy (Matt) Wells of Palmer, Alaska; Terry (Tom) French, Jennifer (James) Gayton and Margaret Bruntz of Sierra Vista,;Mary (Van) Johnson of Rigby, Idaho; a son, Mike (Sam) Grill of Sierra Vista; a sister, Margie Cunningham of Manitowish Waters, Wis.; and a brother, John Hoogakker of Richmond, Va. Also left to forever miss him are four wonderful grandsons and four beautiful granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry, in 1947 and by his mother, Tillie, in 1992.
A rosary was recited at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, at Hatfield Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be at 2 p.m. today, Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 800 N. Taylor Drive, with the Rev. Gregory Adolf officiating. Interment will follow at Cochise Memory Gardens Cemetery, Charleston Road in Sierra Vista.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that donations may be made in Freds name to the Arizona Lung Association, 102 W. McDowell Road, Phoenix AZ 85003.

Erick Milton Anderson
March 5, 1909 - Oct. 31, 1999
Erick Milton Anderson, 90, passed away at his home in Bisbee, Ariz., on Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999. Mr. Anderson was born in Kasota, Minn., on March 5, 1909. He has been a resident of Bisbee for 83 years after coming from Minnesota. Milton worked as a hoist engineer for Phelps Dodge Corp. until his retirement. He was a member of Perfect Ashlar Lodge No. 12 F & A.M. Master for two terms and a member of the Douglas Elks and the Cochise and Sabar Shrine Clubs.
Anderson was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Anderson, on April 30, 1970.
Survivors include two daughters, Sugie Buchannan of Bisbee and Nancy Powell of Tucson, Ariz.; and 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at Dugan Funeral Chapel. Harry Mitchell will officiate. Burial will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Dugan Funeral Chapel.
Bobbie Jean Langston

Bobbie Jean Langston, 68, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., passed away Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, at Life Care Center. She had been a resident of Sierra Vista for 29 years.
Bobbie was born Aug. 10, 1931, in Amite, Tangipahoa Parish, La., to Cassie R. and Alice P. (Courtney) Conerly. She grew up in Kokomo, Miss. She met and marriage her husband, George Langston, in 1950 and followed him throughout his 20-year Army career to various locations around the world. George and Bobbie, along with their daughter Deborah, settled in Sierra Vista in January 1970, where Bobbie performed volunteer work at the Fort Huachuca Library for many years.
Bobbie is survived by her husband, George G. Langston of Sierra Vista; a son, Perry G. (Elizabeth) Langston of Atlanta; a daughter, Deborah D. (Al Chavez) Langston of Sierra Vista; a brother, Henry E. (Nan) Conerly of Poplarville, Miss.; three grandchildren, Robert D. (Dana) Langston, Melanie E. Langston, both of Atlanta, and Cameron L. (Jennifer) Chavez of Sierra Vista.
Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at the Hatfield Memorial Chapel, 830 S. Highway 92, with Pastor H. Lee Erwin officiating. Interment will be private.
The family requests that donations be made in Bobbie's name to Casa de la Paz Hospice, 302 El Camino Real, Sierra Vista AZ 85635.
