Woodard Carl Hall, 89, of Scottsdale, Ariz., passed away Nov. 19, 1999.
Hall was born in Shreveport, La. He moved to Arizona, from Shreveport, 72 years ago residing in Bisbee, Douglas and Yuma. He was a retired retail manager.
Hall is survived by his grandson, William C. Rogers.
Graveside service will be held at noon today, Nov. 24, 1999, at Paradise Memorial Gardens, 9300 E. Shea Blvd., Scottsdale.
Arrangements are being handled by Messinger Mortuary & Chapel, in Scottsdale.
John Robert Kraetz
John Robert Kraetz, 74, of Lake Montezuma, Ariz., retired plant manager for Mountain Bell, died Nov. 22, 1999. He was born in Bisbee, Ariz., and lived in Tucson and Scottsdale, Ariz. He was a World War II Navy veteran of the Normandy Invasion and Pacific Theater.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Marie; daughter, Karen Kraetz of Scottsdale; sons, John Kraetz of Cave Creek, Ariz. and Jerry Kraetz of Flagstaff, Ariz.; brother, Bill Kraetz and wife Barbara of Tucson; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by son James.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 26 at Montezuma Chapel, Lake Montezuma, Ariz.
Arrangements were handled by Westcott Funeral Home, in Camp Verde, Ariz.
Vernon Hugo Anderson
Vernon Hugo Anderson, age 72, passed away at his home on Nov. 29, 1999, after a long illness. He was a member of the Sierra Vista United Methodist Church. He and his wife Carole moved to Sierra Vista, Ariz., in 1997 from their New England home of 35 years.
He served in the U.S. Navy at the end of World War II and again in Korea.
Born and raised in Chicago, his love of the outdoors took him west where he obtained a bachelor's and master's degree in geology from the University of Wyoming. An avid sportsman, he worked with Rocky Mountain Rescue teams and served as president of the University of Wyoming Outing Club. During these college years, he honed his climbing skills on such peaks as the Maiden in Boulder, Colo., and Devil's Tower in Wyoming.
He served as chief glaciologist at Byrd Station, Antarctica, during the international geophysical year of 1957-58. He was the co-leader of an exploratory traverse of 1,500 miles across uncharted territory in the Antarctic. A 13,000-foot peak in the Sentinel Mountain Range bears his name, Mount Anderson.
He pursued a career as an air photo interpreter, first with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and later with his own private company, Photographic Interpretation Corp.
He is survived by his wife, Carole; his daughters, Suzanne Anderson of Mt. Airy, Md. and Carolyn Jones of Santa Barbara, Calif.; his sister, Vivian Lindquist of Libertyville, Ill.; a niece in Illinois; three nephews; a grandnephew; and two grandnieces in Alaska.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1, at the Sierra Vista United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Community Services Home Health Care, or Sierra Vista Regional Health Center Hospice, Casa de la Paz.
Charlotte Alma Bane
Feb. 4, 1927 - Nov. 29, 1999
Charlotte Alma Bane, 72, passed away Monday, Nov. 29, 1999. She had been a resident of Sierra Vista, Ariz., for the past 10 years.
Charlotte was born Feb. 4, 1927, in Kingston, N.H., to Joseph and Mae Murphy. She graduated high school in Connecticut. Charlotte met Vernon Bane in 1945, and they marriage that same year. Charlotte had traveled all over the world. She loved bingo and playing the slot machines in Las Vegas and Reno, Nev. She is also an avid baseball fan and enjoyed the sport above all others. She will be greatly missed and loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Vernon Bane of Sierra Vista; three sons, Joseph Bane of Las Vegas, Danny L. (Rosa) Bane of Ft. Bliss, Texas, and David (Janet) Bane of Sierra Vista; seven grandchildren, Michelle, Janelle, Vernon, Joseph, Kristina, Victoria and Keith; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 1, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hatfield Funeral Home, 830 S. Highway 92. A private family interment will be at a later date.

Eula Nee Hunt Reis

Eula Nee Hunt Reis, born in Huntsville, Ky., Dec. 19, 1901, passed away Nov. 30, 1999, in Oregon. She had been a Sierra Vista, Ariz., resident for 10 years.
Eula marriage George Reis on June 30, 1920.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 29, 1966.
Survivors include daughters, Melba Vickery of Sierra Vista, Norma Breidenbach recently of Sierra Vista and currently in McAllen, Texas; and chosen son, Verlan (Mike) Ward of Las Vegas; two sisters in Indiana; five grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are being made in Huntsville, Ky.
Inez Marie Nichols

Inez Marie Nichols, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999. She had been a resident of Sierra Vista, Ariz., for more than 24 years.
She was born to Edward Deschler and Elizabeth Nilles Deschler in Hilbert, Wis., and was raised in Appleton, Wis. She graduated from Appleton High School and received her bachelor of arts degree from the University of Arizona. In 1990, she retired with more than 24 years in Civil Service, which included working as a communications management specialist at Fort Huachuca from 1975 to 1983.
Inez was the widow of Douglas Nichols, a retired U.S. Air Force master sergeant. She is survived by her three children, Ann, Edward and Mary, all of Sierra Vista; her brother, Edward Deschler, of Appleton, Wis.; sisters, Lois Krueger and Donna Van Domelen, both of Appleton, Wis., Marie Manzagol of Detroit, Ruth Furnal of New Milford, Conn., and Dorthy Belongea of Toledo, Ohio.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. with rosary services at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2, at the Hatfield Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at noon on Friday, Dec. 3, at the Main Post Chapel with Father John Kastigar officiating. Burial will follow at the Post Cemetery.

Paul F. Opitz

Paul F. Opitz, 77, a six-year resident of Sierra Vista, Ariz., passed away at home Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999. He was born April 18, 1922, in Neenah, Wis. to Frank and Ruth Opitz.
Paul graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1943. He served his country and retired from the U.S. Navy after seeing action in both World War II and Korea.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years. Carolyn Opitz of Sierra Vista; son Frank A . Opitz (Susan) of Little Rock, Ark.; daughters, Elizabeth W. Mitchell of Carson City, Nev., Sarah L. Entwistle (Mikel) of Reno, Nev., and Annie O. Olsen (AL) of Dallas; sister, Marjorie Burridge of Libertyville, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 13, at the Four-Square Gospel Church, Celebration Chapel, 4701 E. Highway 90, Sierra Vista, with Pastor Jim Fogarty officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Jensen's Sierra Vista Mortuary LLC.
Anne Medigovich

Anne Medigovich, 89, of Amarillo, Texas, died on Friday, Dec. 24, 1999.
Mrs. Medigovich was born in Bisbee, Ariz. Her parents emigrated to the United States from Serbia at the turn of the century. She graduated from Arizona State Teachers College in Tempe, Ariz., where she earned her bachelors and masters degrees. She was a retired English teacher and taught for many years in Holbrook, Ariz., Miami, Ariz., Whiteriver, Ariz., Bisbee and Reno, Nev. She was marriage to Lee M. Medigovich for 31 years. He preceded her in death in 1960.
She was baptized in the Serbian Orthodox faith and attended Presbyterian Church in Bisbee since early childhood. She had faith in God, in herself and in her fellow man, which she sought to inspire in others through her teaching.
She is survived by her sister, Olga Joy of Amarillo, Texas; three nephews, Gerald Joy of Amarillo, Texas, Dr. Michael Joy of Cheyenne, Wyo., and John Kulinovich of Tucson; four nieces, Maxine Tovrea, Ana Hamilton and Stana Ismay, all of Tucson, and Joan Williams of Moreno Valley, Calif.; several grand nephews and nieces; several godchildren; and many former students.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Bisbee Funeral Home in Bisbee. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Bisbee. The family requests that memorials be donated to your favorite charity.
Walter Lasuk
July 21, 1923 - Jan. 3, 2000
Walter Lasuk, 76, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., passed away on Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at his home. He had been an area resident for the past 41 years.
Walter was born on July 21, 1923, in Philadelphia to Nestor and Agnes Lasuk. He marriage his wife, Susan Berry, in 1950.
He received his bachelors degree from the University of Arizona and his masters degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, N.Y. He served in both World War II and the Korean War and was always proud to be a Marine. He retired in 1988 after 42 years in the civil service.
Walt, a longtime member of the Sierra Vista Beautification Commission, and his volunteers planted the trees along Fry Boulevard and in Veterans Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Susan Lasuk of Sierra Vista; daughters, Tanya Lasuk (husband Bruce Bernacki) of Layton, Utah, and Susan Coyner (husband Robert Coyner) of Enterprise, Ala.; two grandchildren, Steven and Heather Coyner; a sister, Helen Spangler of Fort Richey, Fla.; and one sister-in-law, Barbara Connahan of Philadelphia.
A private memorial service for the family will be held at the Hatfield Memorial Chapel.

John A. Dill

John A. Dill, 73, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999. He was an area resident for the past five years.
John was born on April 20, 1926, in Lawrence, Mich., to Warren P. and Clara Dill. He served his country in both the Navy and the Army. He moved to Sierra Vista in 1994 with his wife Winnie.
He is survived by his wife, Winifred (Winnie) Dill of Sierra Vista; five children, Mike Dill of Columbus, Ohio, Patrick Dill of Redford, Mich., Kathy Trafton and Molly Dill, both of Grand Junction, Colo., and Danny Dill of Englewood, Colo.; three stepchildren, Jerry Douyard of Melvindale, Mich., Sherri DAnna of Northville, Mich., and Raymond Douyard, serving in the military in Germany; and four sisters, Alice Wallace of Columbus, Ohio, Dot Molly of Washington Court House, Ohio, Betty Byrd of Culloden, W.Va., and Shirley Bachman of Columbus, Ohio.
Private memorial services were held at their residence in memory of their loving husband and father.

Pauline Carrie Pradeau

Pauline Carrie Pradeau, 79, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., passed Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at the Sierra Vista Regional Health Center. She had been an area resident for the past three years.
Pauline was born in Ruston, La. to Leonard and Carrie McLeod. She met and later marriage Al Pradeau while working in Indio, Calif. at the Greyhound depot as Al was returning from overseas after World War II. She was an avid reader as well as a collector of American Indian artifacts. She was known for her excellence in cooking.
Pauline is survived by her husband of 54 years, Al Pradeau of Sierra Vista; one son, Rick (JoAnn) Pradeau of Sierra Vista; one daughter, Dolores Garcia of Oracle, Ariz.; one brother, Don McLeod of Oracle; sister-in-law, Laura McCandless of Palm Springs, Calif.; grandchildren, Shari and Jason Garcia, and Doug and Hillary Pradeau; and great-grandchild, Riley Urkov.
Services will be private at a later date.
