Patricia Ann Casson
Patricia Ann Casson died Saturday, May 12, 2001, in Kingman. She was 73. Mrs. Casson was born March 8, 1928, in Wallace, Idaho. She moved from Idaho to Oatman in 1930. Mrs. Casson worked as business manager for the Mohave Unified High School District. She was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church. Mrs. Casson was also a member of Soroptimist International of Kingman, Hostess Club, Daughters of Mohave County Pioneers, Ladies Auxiliary of Kingman Elks Club, was a board member of Kingman Regional Medical Center for over ten years, was past president of Kingman Fire Ladies Auxiliary, Mohave County Historical Society and treasurer for 13 years, and 1993 Women of the Year volunteer. Mrs. Casson is survived by: four sons, Timothy A. Casson of Kingman, Michael Casson of Cottonwood, Robert Casson of Kingman and Charles Casson of Kingman; two daughters, Sandra Anderson of Flagstaff and Susan White of Kingman; sister Betty McBrayer of Kingman; ten grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband, William L. Casson, preceded her in death in 1973. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2001, at Saint Mary's Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2001, at the same location. Father James Alling will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Leonard Jerome Seabeck
Leonard Jerome Seabeck died Saturday, May 12, 2001 in Kingman. He was 68.
Mr. Seabeck was born July 8, 1932, at Omaha, Neb. He worked 32 years for the U.S. Post Office in California as a postal clerk prior to moving to Kingman. He was also a member of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Mr. Seabeck is survived by: his wife, Ruth M. (Keeman) Seabeck of Kingman; five daughters, Susan Seabeck of Denver, Colo., Cynthia Rauch of Glendale, Colo., Sandra De La Cruz of Lancaster, Calif., Teri Goffredo of Sunland, Calif., and Karen Dropulic of Bullhead City; one brother, Joseph Seabeck of Wenatchee, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and two nephews and two nieces.
Visitation will run from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home with a Rosary being said at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2001, also at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home, with Deacon Jose Rodriguez officiating. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery.
Jack C. Chandler
Jack C. Chandler of Kingman died May 5, 2001, in Las Vegas, Nev. He was 62.
Mr. Chandler was born Aug. 8, 1938, in England, Ark., and came to Kingman 39 years ago from Yuma. He worked for the Duval Mining Corp. for 14 years and also worked for the Mohave County Road Department and Pilot Oil Co. as a truck driver. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Tri Lakes Bass Club. He served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Chandler is survived by: his wife of 35 years, Judy Chandler of Kingman; his mother, Hazel Chandler of Winterhaven, Calif.; and one sister, Frances Brown of Ceres, Calif.
Edgar James Wilson
Edgar James Wilson died Saturday, May 5, 2001.
Mr. Wilson was born and raised in San Diego County, Calif. He was a bridge builder employed by Peter Kiewit Sons and a member of Union No. 383. He was also an avid fisherman and guitar player.
Mr. Wilson is survived by: his wife, Rena Wilson of Kingman; one son, Paul Arias of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Barbara Burke; two nieces; one nephew; and one aunt.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2001, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Services will follow at 3 p.m.
Philip Thomas
Philip Thomas, a Kingman resident, died Friday, May 4, 2001, in Barstow, Calif. He was 50.
Mr. Thomas was born Sept. 26, 1950, in Marion, Ohio. He moved to Kingman from Phoenix. He worked as a truck driver for ABF Trucking in Kingman. Mr. Thomas was a member of Teamsters union local No. 104. He served in the U.S. Air Force in the Vietnam War.
Mr. Thomas is survived by: his wife, Mary Thomas of Kingman; one son, Henry Thomas of Phoenix; his mother, Lavern Thomas of Marion, Ohio; one brother, Gary of Marion, Ohio; and three sisters, Cindy and Sherry, both of Marion, Ohio, and Barbara of Rockline, Calif.
A memorial service will be held today, May 8, 2001, at Hualapai Baptist Church. Graveside service and burial will be Saturday, May 12, 2001, at Veterans Cemetery in Phoenix.
Sharon Lea Adkins
Sharon Lea Adkins, a Valentine resident, died Monday, May 7, 2001, in Kingman. She was 58.
Mrs. Adkins was born Aug. 17, 1942, in San Diego, Calif. She moved to the Kingman area 57 years ago. She worked for Mohave County Sheriff's Office detective and for Crumb Crushers Daycare.
Mrs. Adkins is survived by: her husband of 42 years, Jerry Adkins of Valentine; two daughters, Sharue Johnson of Kingman and Jerrine Bruce of Kingman; two sons, Chance Adkins of Kingman and Rusten Adkins of Valentine; and six grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2001, at College Park Baptist Church.
Charles E. Waalkens
Charles E. Waalkens died Saturday, May 5, 2001, in Kingman. He was 83.
Mr. Waalkens was born July 31, 1917, in Lowry, S.D. He worked as a punch press operator for Rockwell International in California for more than 25 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Waalkens is survived by: two sons, Tommy Waalkens of Kingman and Phillip C. Waalkens of Escondido, Calif.; three daughters, Norma Clarke of Phoenix, Shirley Isslieb of San Diego, Calif., and Francis Bellerue of Tucson; four sisters, Annie Jewson of Fond De Lac, Wisc., Rose Johnson of Combined Locks, Wisc., Kate Erickson of Kenosha, Wisc., and Margaret Anderson of Rhinelander, Wisc.; three brothers, Hilco Waalkens and Alfred Waalkens, both of Rhinelander, Wisc., and Willie Waalkens of Argone, Wisc.; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren. His wife, Lora C. Waalkens, preceded him in death in Nov. 1988.
Services will be held Thursday, May 10, 2001, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home; visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. Pastor Norman Taylor will officiate. Burial will be at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Riverside, Calif.
Glorie Marie Vanderplaats
Glorie Marie Vanderplaats died Saturday, May 5, 2001, in Kingman. She was 64.
Mrs. Vanderplaats was born March 31, 2001, in Leonard, N.D. She worked as a senior office assistant for more than 15 years. Her last employer was the Mohave County Treasurer's Office.
Mrs. Vanderplaats is survived by: one daughter, Ranee Grimes of Kingman; two sons, Randy Vanderplaats of Kingman and Trevor Vanderplaats of Fayetteville, N.D.; one sister, Sharon Buchholz of Tacna; two brothers, Gerry Schossow of Roanoke, Va., and Maynard Schossow of Pelican Lake, Minn.; and four grandchildren. Her husband Charles Vanderplaats preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2001, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Rev. Ronald Fair will officiate. Sutton Crematory will handle cremation.
Robert Wesley Wilson
Robert Wesley Wilson died Tuesday, May 1, 2001, in Golden Valley. He was 86.
Mr. Wilson was born Feb. 23, 1915, in Santa Monica, Calif. He moved to Mohave County 16 years ago from Covina, Calif. He retired 1976 from a career as a cement mixer. He was a member of Local No. 923 Plasterers and Cement Masons Union and the American Legion. He served in the U.S. Navy as a flight engineer and tail gunner on a PBY2 Coronado during World War II. He attended Golden Valley Baptist Church.
Mr. Wilson is survived by: one brother, Norman Wilson of Glendora, Calif.; one sister, Millie Ferm of Baldwin Park, Calif.; one son, Richard Wilson of Golden Valley; one daughter, Judy Smith of Golden Valley; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2001, at Golden Valley Baptist Church.
Ina Mae Kornmeyer
Ina Mae Kornmeyer, a Kingman resident, died Thursday, April 26, 2001, in Lake Havasu City. She was 100.
Mrs. Kornmeyer was born May 14, 1900, in Liberty Township, Osborne County, Kan., to George Washington Case and Myrtus Mable (Rudy) Case.
Mrs. Kornmeyer came to Kingman in 1965. She worked as a quality assurance inspector for Boeing Aircraft, was manager of the PX restaurant at Beale Air Force Base and was a housewife.
Mrs. Kornmeyer is survived by: two brothers, Paul Case of Wichita, Kan., and Ralph Case of Independence, Mo.; one son, Roy Kornmeyer of Kingman; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Her husband of 71 years, Roy Kornmeyer Sr.; six sisters, Violet, Matilda, Maude, Vesta, Peggy and Anna; two brothers, Elmer and Horace; and many nieces and nephews preceded her in death.
Pastor Dennis Colvig will officiate a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2001, at Kingman Christian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kingman branch of the Salvation Army.
