Owen Bernard "Barney" Platel
Owen Bernard "Barney" Platel, a former Kingman resident, died Sunday, July 4, 1999 in Laughlin, Nev. He was 79.
Mr. Platel was born in Woolwich, England. He grew up in India and returned to England as a young adult. He served in the Royal Air Force during World War II. He came to Canada in 1947 where he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and contributed to the development of NORAD.
Mr. Platel moved to Kingman in 1965 from Ottawa, Canada. While in Kingman, he was employed at Wright Electric. He was a resident of Laughlin, Nev., where he worked as an electrical engineer, since the mid-1970s.
Mr. Platel is survived by: his wife, Shirley Platel; two daughters, Lynn Nichols of Tucson and Penelope Platel of Toronto, Canada; one stepdaughter, Patricia Mitchell of Austin, Texas; one stepson, Michael Lewis Golden of Booneville, Ark.; and five grandchildren.
Ashes will be interred at a later date in Montreal, Canada. The family suggests memorial donations to the Humane Society.
Adela T. Chavez
Adela Chavez died Tuesday, July 6, 1999 in Kingman. She was 85.
Mrs. Chavez was born May 31, 1914 in Soham, N.M. She came to Flagstaff in 1942 and moved to Kingman in 1994 to live with her daughter.
She is survived by: her children, Emma Roberts of Flagstaff, Bernice Martinez of Kingman, Phillip Chavez of Flagstaff, Leroy Chavez of Flagstaff, Flaviano Chavez of Phoenix, Vera Tapia of Kingman and Margie Tiede of Flagstaff; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Jacob Chavez; one daughter, Phyllis Chavez; and one son, Ralph Chavez.
Rosary and vigil services were held Thursday, July 8, 1999 at the St. Pius X Center. Mass of the Christian burial was held on Friday, July 9, 1999, also at the church. Burial was at Calavay Cemetery.
Dolores Murillo
Dolores Murillo died Thursday, July 8, 1999 in Kingman. She was 65.
Mrs. Murillo was born October 8, 1933 in Kingman. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and of the Teamster Retirees.
She is survived by: two daughters, Patricia Murillo Lewis and Becky Turner, both of Kingman; three sons, Manuel Murillo, Steven Murillo and Robert "Bob" Murillo, all of Kingman; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Frank E. Murillo.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with Rosary at 6 p.m. July 11, 1999 at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 12, 1999 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery.
Mildred Cunniff
Mildred Cunniff died Friday, June 25, 1999, in Kingman. She was 77.
Mrs. Cunniff was born March 29, 1922, in Joplin, Mo., and was a self-employed seamstress for 40 years. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge.
Mrs. Cunniff is survived by: two daughters, Dovey Wacker of Kingman, and Virginia Ostrander of Richmond, Calif.' two sisters, Mazie Hall of Ridgecrest, Calif., and Dorothy Hutchinson of Tacoma, Wash.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five nieces; and seven nephews. She was preceded in death by: her husband, John Cunniff; and her parents, James and Dove Lyster.
Visitation was held on Sunday, June 27, 1999 at Desert View Funeral Chapel. Services were on Monday, June 28, 1999, also at Desert View. Burial is in Mountain View Cemetery.
Robert Lee Spear Sr.
Robert Lee Spear Sr., of Kingman, died Sunday, July 4, 1999. He was 66.
Mr. Spear was born on October 10, 1932 in San Andreas, Calif. He worked as a police officer for the Mohave County Sheriff's Office for 15 years until his retirement in 1995. He also worked as a driver for Ford Motor Company. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Spear is survived by: daughter Lei Nelson of Kingman; two sons, Robert Lee Spear, Jr., of Yucaipa, Calif., and Charles Arthur Spear of Las Vegas, Nev.; two brothers, Ed Spear of North Carolina and Paul Spear of California; five grandchildren; two nieces; five nephews; two aunts; one uncle and one godson.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., Friday, July 9, 1999, at Desert View Funeral Chapel. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, July 17, 1999, also at Desert View.

Henry Ellison Tyree
Hentry Ellison Tyree died Saturday, July 3, 1999, in Kingman. He was 38.
Mr. Tyree was born May 13, 1960, in Williams, Ariz.
He is survived by: his wife, Lisa Tyree; two sons, Troy E. and Trey E. Tyree; one daughter, Tedra L. Tyree; one sister, Robin Medlin of Kingman; one brother, John Tyree of Green Bay, Wisc.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by: his mother, Alva Mae Sanderson; one brother, Benjamin S. Tyree; and his father, Benjamin F. Tyree.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 1999, in Prescott. Cremation was handled by Sutton Memorial Funeral Home.
Noreen A. Overson
Noreen A. Overson died Tuesday, June 15, 1999, in Phoenix. She was 33.
Miss Overson was born June 25, 1965, in Norwalk , Calif. She came to Arizona from Oregon six years ago.
Miss Overson is survived by: her mother, Elaine Ferch of Kingman; one sister, China Billings of Kingman; and one niece.
Cremation was handled by Camino del Sol in Sun City, Ariz.
Roland Joseph Laramee
Roland Joseph Laramee of Wilmington, Calif., died Sunday, June 27, 1999, in Bakersfield, Calif. He was 81.
Mr. Laramee was born June 21, 1918, in St. Etienne de Bolton, Quebec, Canada. He moved to the United states as a youth and grew up in Pawtucket, R.I. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Laramee and his family moved to California in 1952 and worked in the aerospace industry. He worked for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica, Calif., and retired in 1980.
After retiring, he and his wife of 56 years, Rita Desautel, moved to Kingman. He moved back to California after his wife died several years ago.
He is survived by: one son, Robert Laramee of Bakersfield; one brother, Bernard Laramee of Pawtucket; two sisters, Fauvette Choiniere of North Attleboro, Mass., and Yolande Lepine of Pawtucket; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Josephat and Victoria Robitaille; his wife, Rita Desautel; one daughter, Elaine De La Vega; and one brother, Claude Laramee.
Services were held Tuesday, July 6, 1999, in the Mausoleum Chapel of the Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary in Bakersfield, with interment following.
The family of Mr. Laramee asks for donations to be sent to the American Cancer Society or a favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
Arthur Lee Finch Jr.
Arthur Lee Finch Jr. died Wednesday, June 30, 1999, in Kingman. He was 75.
Mr. Finch was born Jan. 21, 1924, in Kingman. He was employed as a security guard for the Ford Motor Co. at Yucca. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II.
Mr. Finch is survived by: three sons, Kenneth L. Finch of Kingman, Larry A. Finch of Kingman and Marty D. Finch of Kingman; two brothers, Owen Finch of Kingman and Chuck Finch of Scottsdale; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Finch.
A visitation was held today Tuesday, July 6, 1999 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services followed at 10 a.m., also at Sutton. Burial is in Mountain View Cemetery in Kingman.
Clarence "Ron" Stuerke
Clarence "Ron" Stuerke died Thursday, July 1 in Prescott. He was 50.
Mr. Stuerke was born July 29, 1948, in Brawley, Calif., to Clarence Edward and Edna Elgin (Stumpfe) Stuerke.
Mr. Stuerke was a social worker for Narcotics Anonymous in Kingman and a volunteer at the Mohave County Museum. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, and mother, Edna Elgin (Stumpfe) Stuerke of Kingman. He was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Ann Marie Stuerke.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Bank Street in Kingman. Pastor John E. Jaster will officiate.
There was cremation. Memory Chapel Mortuary of Prescott is in charge of arrangements.
