Norman Yoshpa
Norman Yoshpa died Friday, June 25, 1999 in Kingman. He was 77.
Mr. Yoshpa was born August 23, 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, and later was a salesman.
Mr. Yoshpa is survived by his wife, Ruth (Schwendemann) Yoshpa of Kingman.
No service is planned for Mr. Yoshpa. Sutton crematory is handling cremation.
Dr. Maurice B. Ruland
Dr. Maurice B. Ruland died Saturday, June 19, 1999, in Las Vegas. He was 82.
Dr. Ruland was born September 8, 1916, in Glen Ulin, N.D. He was retired from a career as a psychiatrist at the Mohave Mental Health Clinic.
He was a graduate of Bowman Grey Medical School and moved to Golden Valley, where he lived for 29 years, from Phoenix. He served as a major in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
Dr. Ruland was a member of various organizations including the American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, the Animal Welfare League, the Humane Society and Adopt-a-Burro.
He is survived by: two daughters, Nancy L. Strong of Fayetteville, N.C., and Kelly M. Moul of Mesa; four sons, Ross R. Ruland of Seabrook, Texas, Stephen M. Ruland of Texas, Michael J. Ruland of Portland, Ore., and Boyd H. Ruland of Phoenix; onesister, Joyce Brendemuhl of Florence; one aunt; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 28, 1999, at American Legion Post No. 22 on North Verde in Golden Valley.
Hector Lionel Gibbons
Hector Lionel Gibbons died Sat., June 19, 1999 in Kingman. He was 82.
Mr. Gibbons was born on April 19, 1917 in Green Point, N.Y. He was a longtime resident of California, coming to Kingman one year ago.
He worked as a plumber until his retirement 20 years ago. He was a veteran of World War II.
Mr. Gibbons is survived by: his wife of 62 years, Della June Gibbons; four daughters, Nancy Brolliar of Kingman, Joan Saxby of Wellington, Nev., Merry Walker of Lake Camanche, Calif., and Charlotte Hansen of Bozeman, Mont.; sister Lil Barnes of Bandon, Ore.; two brothers, William Benjamin Gibbons of Corona, Calif, and Robert Gibbons of Newport Beach, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Lloyd George Farnsworth, Sr.
Lloyd George Farnsworth, Sr., died Saturday, June 19, 1999 in Kingman. He was 73.
Mr. Farnsworth was born Feb. 14, 1926 in Hannibal, N.Y. He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II, and in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a retired employee of the city of Phoenix.
Mr. Farnsworth is survived by: son Lloyd Farnsworth of Kingman; two daughters, Belinda Farnsworth and Cynthia Farnsworth, both of Kingman; brother Charles Farnsworth of New York; four sisters, Edna Richards, Evelyn Timiggi, Patty Allen and Cecil Wells, all of New York; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bessy and Edward Farnsworth; brother Howard Farnsworth; and two sisters, Charlotte Farnsworth and Minnie Carpenter.
No services are planned. Sutton Crematory will handle cremation.
Ilah Marie Farinelli
Ilah Marie Farinelli died Saturday, June 19, 1999, in Kingman. She was 69.
Mrs. Farinelli was born May 21, 1930, in Detroit, Mich. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Farinelli is survived by: her husband, John Farinelli of Kingman; two daughters, Tina Jo Kalstad of Kingman and Toni Murray of California; one son, John M. Farinelli of Riverside, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Brea Memory Gardens in Brea, Calif., at a later date. Sutton Crematory is handling cremation.
Ned L. Halen
Ned. L. Halen died Thursday, June 17, 1999 in Kingman. He was 74.
Mr. Halen was born on June 11, 1925 in Freeport, Ill. He worked as a navigator for the U.S. Navy for 30 years. He was a member of the Cross of Christ Church in Kingman, Fleet Reserve and the National Rifle Association. Mr. Halen served in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War with the rank SMC E-7. He was awarded the China Service Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Untied Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), World War II Victory American Campaign Philippine Liberation Asian-Pacific.
Mr. Halen is survived by: his wife, Carol P. (Fanning) Halen of Kingman; daughter Terry Young of Florida; two sons, Kenneth Halen of Reno, Nev., and Manuel Romero of Kingman; sister Donna Wall of Ocala, Fla.; brother James Halen of Cedar City, Utah; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, 1999 at Cross of Christ Church. Sutton Crematory will handle cremation. The family asks that memorial donations be made to the Cross of Christ Church.
Raymond Leon Wanamaker Gross
Raymond Leon Wanamaker Gross, a former resident of Kingman, died Sunday, June 13, 1999 in Provo, Utah. He was 88.
Mr. Gross was born April 8, 1911 in Helena, Mont. to Jacob Wanamaker and Mary DeBorde Wanamaker. He grew up in Helena and graduated from Helena High in 1929, having participated in track and baseball.
Mr. Gross marriage Eudessa Gunn Evans on May 13, 1940 in Cordova, Alaska. They were sealed in the Arizona Temple in 1962.
Mr. Gross was a businessman in Alaska. He started the first supermarket in Fairbanks in 1953. He was one of the founders of Midnight Sun Council of the Boy Scouts of America and received the Silver Beaver Award. He helped build the first skyscraper in Fairbanks and helped found the Alaska National Bank.
In 1961 Mr. Gross moved to Prescott where he founded a chain of grocery stores. He joined the LDS Church in 1962. From Prescott, Mr. Gross moved to Kingman where he lived until his retirement in 1975. At that time he moved to Provo, Utah where he worked in the Provo LDS Temple on genealogy and in the name extraction program.
In his church he served as Sake missionary, High Councilor, Ward Mission Leader and in the Stake Sunday School Presidency.
Mr. Gross is survived by: his wife, Eudessa Gunn Evans; three sons, Gary Gross of Las Vegas, Nev., Bruce Gross of Pleasant Grove and David Wanamaker of Orem; two daughters, Gayle Agla of Orem, and Barbara Hammond of Provo, Utah; sister Doris Wanamaker of Helena Mont.; brother Richard Gross of Walla Walla, Wash.; 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 1999 at the Edgemont 20th Ward Chapel in Provo, Utah. Interment will be at Orem City Cemetery.
John Everett "Ted" Gilmer
John Everett "Ted" Gilmer died Monday, June 14, 1999 in Kingman. He was 72.
Mr. Gilmer was born on Feb. 7, 1927 in Hundred, W. Va. He came to Kingman from California 14 years ago.
Mr. Gilmer was retired. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post NO. 4111 in Lisbon, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Saratoga CV3 during World War II.
Mr. Gilmer is survived by: two daughters, Vicki Goodell Ewing of Kingman and Marcia Brenneman of Berlin Lake, Ohio; one son, Ted Gilmer of Bird-in-Hand, Pa.; three brothers, Don Gilmer of Chloride, Tom Gilmer of Fort Worth, Texas, and Richard Moore of Lisbon, Ohio; three sisters, Jean Dowd, Betty Gallaher and Shirley Goddard, all of Salem, Ohio; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his wife of 33 years, Mary D. Gilmer.
Funeral services, officiated by his son Ted Gilmer, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 1999 at Kingman Christian Church, 2830 Gordon Drive. Interment will be in Lisbon, Ohio.
Warren G. (Bud) Black
Warren G. (Bud) Black died Friday, June 11, 1999 in Kingman. He was 78.
Mr. Black was born Feb. 1, 1921 in Hartford, Ark. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was a conductor for the Santa Fe Railroad.
Mr. Black is survived by: his wife, Ruth M. (Orr) Black of Kingman; one son, Steven Black of Colton, Calif.; one sister, Grace Stevens of Kingman; one brother, Billy Ray Black of Payson; one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, 1999 at Desert View Funeral Chapel. Cremation is being handled by Sutton Crematory.
Mary Jane (Janie) La Londe
Mary Jane (Janie) La Londe of Golden Valley died Monday, June 14, 1999, in Golden Valley. She was 56.
Mrs. La Londe was born Feb. 20, 1943, in Willows, Calif. She was self-employed as an office manager.
Mrs. La Londe is survived by: one daughter, Mary Rose Maloney; two brothers, Charles Fulton and Lonnie Fulton; two sisters, Dixie Dixon and Tommie Love; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
There will be no services. Cremation is being handled by Sutton Crematory.
The family has requested that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1599 Clifton Road N.E., Atlanta, Ga. 30329.
