BINNEY, JoAnne Buchanan, Mrs., age 53, the loving mother of Amy and Alison; and devoted daughter of Alice Wheeler Buchanan, died in Tucson, AZ early Saturday morning, February 26, 2000, after a lengthy illness. Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, from Oak Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. Jarrell Lillard officiating.
Mrs. Binney, a native of Americus, was born September 8, 1946, a daughter of Mrs. Alice Pauline Wheeler Buchanan of Americus and the late Alonzo Josephus Buchanan. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Americus. She had a BS in Education and taught elementary school in Incline Village, NV, later becoming an educational consultant for America's Clean Water Foundation in Washington, D.C. She was a member of the ECW for Episcopal Women and the Arizona Cowbelles Association. She served on the Board of the Santa Cruz River (Friends of the Santa Cruz River) and did environmental studies in Third-world countries, including Africa. She was a Realtor in Nevada and California.

The family will receive friends at Hancock Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 29. At other times, friends may call at the residence of Mrs. Alice Buchanan, 1313 South Lee Street.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, George Andrew Binney, III, of Crystal Bay, NV; two daughters Alice Ann (Alison) Binney and Amy Buchanan Binney, both of Crystal Bay, NV; two step-sons, Philip K. Binney of Maui, HI. and Peter A. Binney of Oahu, HI; a sister and brother-in-law, Alice B. Brown and Dr. Walter Brown of Spring Hill, TN; a granddaughter, Taylor Rea Binney of Crystal Bay, NV; two nephews, Kerry Brown and Kirk Brown, both of Spring Hill,TN; and several nieces and cousins.
her faith in God and living her days in His love was ever present during the months and years of her illness. She shared her faith with those who surrounded her, and will be remembered for her strength and her love of each of them. JoAnne has come home to rest in peacefulness alongside her father in the sunshine of Oak Grove Cemetery in Americus.

BUTLER, George Arthur, 80, died February 28, 2000. Husband of Geraldine Butler; father of Sherry Rupp of Elmhurst, Ill., Lynn Butler of Aurora, CO., and Brian Butler of Brookfield, MO; grandfather of 8 grandchildren. He was a WWII veteran serving in the US Marines as Staff Sergeant receiving the Purple Heart and a member of the Third Jasco Co. - U.S.M.C. COOK, James F., Jr., 52, died at University Medical Center February 28, 2000 as the result of an infection subsequent to his 1996 double lung transplant. Born at Baltimore, MD, August 14, 1947, he graduated from Rincon High School and the University of Arizona. In 1965 Jim led the only Rincon High School Mens Basketball team to ever win the State Championship. He served with the US Army 1st Calvary Unit in Viet Nam. Jim worked for Southern Pacific Railroad for 23 years. Mr. Cook is survived by his sister, Susan Cook Carlson and her husband Greg; son, James F. Cook III; daughter, Chelsea Renae Cook; and nephews, David J. and Jordan R. McKee. ESPOSITO, Thomas, 63, formerly of Danbury, Connecticut and resident of Tucson for 17 years, died on February 25, 2000 following a four-month illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Mary Lou; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Doug Lombardi, and granddaughters, Mandy and Kristin, all of Connecticut; brothers, Louis Esposito of Bisbee and Richard Esposito of Connecticut; mother-in-law, Josephine Costello of Connecticut; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Nelson, Tucson; Anita Regan and Barbara Esposito, Connecticut; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Esposito was predeceased by his parents and one brother.
Mr. Esposito was employed by the State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation for 15 years before moving to Tucson. He was semi-retired and most recently employed at Loews Ventana Canyon Golf Resort.

KURTZE, Reinhard "Red" H., 71, a resident of Tucson, for over 27 years, passed away February 29, 2000. Survived by wife of 38 years, Emily; his devoted children; sons, Raymond, Richard, and Christopher; daughters, Jackie and Denise; many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Red served in the Navy during WWII. He retired from Palisades Interstate Parkway Police in New Jersey and the Pima County Sheriff's Office, Corrections Department. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends who were blessed by his loving heart and joyful spirit.
