TOMPKINS, James Marion, 93, originally from Camden, SC, died July 28, 2001 at the Leisure Living Assisted Living Home, he was a 28 year resident of Tucson. James received a BS from UCLA in business and went on to enlist in the Navy during WWII serving in Washington, DC until his retirement as a commander in 1967. He continued his career in the naval reserve as well as with NASA. During his life he was an active member of the order of Masons. He is survived by his only daughter, Patricia Tompkins; and his only grand-son, Cristopher Canizares. His wife of 42 years, Mary Kay, died in November of 2000. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 13th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 750 W. Chapala Drive with the Reverend Carla Williams officiating. THOMPSON, Arthur Calvin "Cal", Colonel, USAF (Ret), 89, died Friday, July 27, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Hagius Thompson; daugh- ter, Suzanne (Larry) Craig; three grandchildren; and two great-grand- children. Cal came to Arizona when he was quite young and regarded it as his home state. He attended school in Jerome, Arizona, and is a graduate of the University of Arizona, where he was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity. He was a member of Aztlan Lodge #1, F&AM for over 50 years. During a career in the U.S. Air Force in excess of 30 years, he served overseas in Europe, Japan and Newfoundland. Since retirement he has been active in the Tucson Gem and Mineral Society, the Arizona Historical Society, and the Postal History Foundation. At his request, no services are planned. SHOOK, William L., Jr., 73, of Mira Loma, CA died August 2, 2001. Born September 10, 1927 in Tucson. He was the owner of Yellow Cab in San Francisco for 30 years. He served in the US Army during WWII. Survived by son, Billy Roles of Mira Loma, CA, daughter, Virginia O'Brian of Aurora, CO; sister, Maxine Elder of Tucson, AZ; and eight grandchildren. DAVIS, Clayton Louis, U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sergeant (Ret), 64, of Tucson, died Friday, July 27, 2001. Husband of Renate Davis. Father of U.S. Army Sergeant David M. Davis of Texas; brother of Clark (Rosa) of South Dakota; Darlene of Florida; and Lee of Iowa; stepbrother of Ethel (Stan) of Texas; Mavis (Harold) and Edith of South Dakota; and Bud of California; nephew of Ella of California. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mr. Davis attended numerous schools throughout his military career and prior to his retirement served as a computer specialist. Mr. Davis' family would like to extend appreciation and gratitude to their many friends and neighbors, the Veterans Hospital Home Care nurse and doctor and special thanks to longtime caregiver Jerry and caregiver Mary. BERKOWITZ, JOSEPH 81, passed away on March 30, 2001. He is survived by two daughters, Alma and Hannah; two grandchildren, Zalman and Aurelia; and loving partner, longtime companion, and dear friend, Pearl Fessler.
He was a highly intelligent and deeply compassionate man, he will be remembered with love and respect.

MONTGOMERY, Edward "Ted" Warren, born September 5, 1915, died January 31, 2002 in Tucson, AZ. He was born to Almaria Maria (Keen) and Russell Banks Montgomery in Lookingglass, Douglas County, Oregon. He attended schools in Lookingglass and Oregon State University. He is survived by his wife, Peggy E. "Poage" Montgomery; sons, Errol L. (Ann) and Edward Gerald "Jerry"; grandchildren, Jennifer McDowell and David, Michael, and Susan Montgomery; great-grand- children, Maran Montgomery and Randal McDowell; sisters, Grace Smith Allman and Martha Gurney Karstens Montgomery; brother, Charles Robert Montgomery; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were a sister, Kathryn Hutto, and brother, John R. Montgomery. Ted was a longtime resident of Oregon and moved to Tucson in 1996. He was a fireman and locomotive engineer for Southern Pacific Railroad, Portland Division for 39 years. He was a member of Masonic Laurel Lodge #13, AF-AM, Roseburg, Oregon. At his request there will be no Service. Ted will be missed by family and friends.
Agnes E. Dailey
Daughter of Bernard and Mable Sweeney Dailey, Agnes was born May 12, 1919 in Green Bay, WI. She peace-fully left this world January 31, 2002 in her home in Tucson surrounded by dedicated caregivers and family. Agnes graduated from St. Norbert's College in DePere, WI and obtained a M.A. in Education from the University of Indiana in Bloomington. She lived the majority of her life in South Bend, IN teaching elementary grades in the South Bend School District until retirement. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in South Bend and was an active volunteer in numer-ous charitable organizations. Agnes traveled extensively in the U.S. and the world, experiencing new cultures and enjoying the companionship of family and friends during her adventures. In August 1999 she moved to Tucson to be closer to family. Interment will take place in Amberg, WI in a family plot next to her parents. A memorial mass will be held in Tucson at a later date. She is survived by cousins, including Maureen (Jack) Elliot of Tucson. Memorials may be sent to St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 309 S. Taylor, South Bend, IN. 46601. DISHAW, Beth A., born April 27, 1966 in South Carolina, passed peacefully in California on January 27, 2002. Beth is preceded by beloved mother, Inez Ellen Dishaw. She is survived by her father, Wendal; brother, Matthew; and her precious son, Jonathan Sebastian Centurion-Dishaw. Memorial service pending.

Beverly M. Collins, 81, of Apache Junction, passed away August 13, 2000. Mrs. Collins, born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, was a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter Nancy Valenzuela, 5 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Apache Junction Mortuary handled the arrangements.
