79, of Glendale, passed away peacefully June 2, 2003. Kay, a philanthropist and prior business owner, dedicated endless years and resources, volunteering countless thousands of hours towards causes including but not limited to the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Catholic Charities, Catholic Women of the Chapel, Family Services, Red Cross and USO. For years she fed the hungary and clothed many of the poorest children in Africa. In spite of a massive cerebral hemorrhage she suffered in 1990, she continued to reach people and change lives, always for the better. She and her love of mankind will be very greatly missed.
Prior to moving to Arizona in 1983, Katherine and William, her husband of 51 years, now deceased, resided in upstate New York, where they successfully owned and operated a community store. This woman truly lived her "dash", (1924-2003).
She is survived by two sons, Bill Lechowit and wife, Ramona (Dayton, TX), John Lechowit and wife, Nancy (Tucson, AZ); four daughters, Lori Cortright (Glendale, AZ), Linda L. Connelly and husband, Patrick (Glendale, AZ), Sandi Mueller and husband, Dan (Cypress, TX), Andrea L. Cater and husband, Bill (Lakeside, CA); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, John Frein and wife, Flossy; three sisters, Sister Irene Frein of the Franciscan Order, Gertrude May and husband, Edward, Joann Heimer and three in-laws, Anna (Lechowit) Kapler, Marie Lechowit and Ernie Loecher, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She leaves behind one god-child, Melvin Mullenbach.
A viewing and celebration of her live will be held on June 6, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 59th Ave & Northern, Glendale. A Funeral Service will follow on Saturday, June 7, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Raphael's Church, 55th Ave & Acoma, Glendale.

Loving father, grandfather, and brother - passed away on the morning of June 9, 2003. Preceded in death by his loving wife Marguerite. Father of Theresa (Jeffrey), Bobby (Gail), Kevin (Donna), Brian, and Justin (Erin). Is also survived by his mother Catherine, brothers Timothy, Edward, and Mark and sister Teresa, and five grandchildren. Originally from Frostburg, Md. Graduated from Beall High School. Enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and proudly served his country for 22 years including several tours of duty in Vietnam. Worked as a salesman at Sears for 20 years before retiring in 1998. He was a caring and giving man who volunteered many hours to help others. He had a great zest for life and a wonderful sense of humor. He will be
deeply missed by his family.

TOBIN, Caroline Boumstein
age 77, beloved daughter of the late Nathan and the late Fannie Boumstein passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2003.
Mrs. Tobin taught pre-Kindergarten at the Jewish People's Institute, on Douglas Blvd., Chicago, Illinois during WWII while attending National College of Education. Upon receiving her degree she taught primary grades at the Chicago Hebrew Parochial School and Junior High School at the Chicago Jewish Academy. She was the appointed Principal of Akiba Day School under the auspices of the Associated Talmud Torahs of Chicago.
Mrs. Tobin subsequently joined the Chicago Public School System as a Master Teacher and Counselor at the Marshall Elementary School and Faraday Grammar School. Thereafter, she was appointed as an Administrator at the William T. Sherman Elementary School and then Jensen Elementary from where she retired and moved to Tucson, Arizona. While living in Tucson, she was a substitute teacher for the Tucson Unified School District.
She is survived by her husband, Sol (married 55 years); daughter, Neala (Bill) Sillman, an American Sign Language Teacher, Tucson, Arizona; son, Myles (Carol), an attorney specializing in transportation law, Chicago, Illinois; granddaughter, Kayli (Marco) Rivera; great-grandchildren, Tony and Cami, Tucson, Arizona; brother, Sidney, Chicago, Illinois; sister, Jessica Singer, Chicago, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Abraham. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2003 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd., Tucson, Arizona. EPPINGER, Maybelle Aline (Personius)
95, formerly of Tucson died peacefully Monday, June 2, 2003, at Mary Washington Hospital, in Fredericksburg, VA. Mrs. Eppinger was a 60 year resident of Tucson, attended Catalina Methodist Church for 50 years and worked as a teacher in Tucson for 22 years. Her first few years teaching were spent in North Dakota and Wyoming before she moved to Tucson in 1942, where she taught at Davis Elementary for ten years and at Lizzie Brown Elementary (now Dodge Middle School) for 12 years. Last year due to failing health she moved to Fredericksburg, VA to live with her grandson and family. She is survived by a step-son, George Eppinger and wife, Susan; a grandson, Marc Personius and wife, Coleen and a granddaughter, Melody Personius; step-granddaughters, Robyn Fowler and husband, Harry, Lynn Fehrenbach and husband, Greg and great-grandchildren, Laura Personius, Kasey Personius, Marc Personius; step-great-grandchildren, Bobby Chapman, Dawn Gray, Crystal Davidson and by many loving friends. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Myron H. Personius and Russell A. Eppinger and son, Myron E. Personius. A Funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 16, at Catalina United Methodist Church Chapel on Speedway Blvd. Tucson, with Rev. Raven Gaston officiating. 93, passed away on July 14, 2003 leaving behind a loving legacy, for she was and always will be loved by everyone she met. Born on April 16, 1910 in Winona, Mississippi, she was the youngest of four children born to Harry and Mary Jane Hart. Mary, the daughter of a minister and lover of music, sang in choirs and various choral groups since high school. She earned graduate teaching degrees from Chicago Normal College and Chicago Teacher's College with an emphasis on music. Mary also attended Northern University, Chicago, and The American Conservatory of Music. As a teacher at Chicago's Tennyson Elementary School, she taught elementary, upper center (7-8) grades, the choir and headed the music department. Her class was always the best! Mary married William Lewis July 3, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois. The couple traveled extensively before moving to Tucson in 1971, where they retried. She belonged to Christ Church United Methodist, The Chanel Choir and United Methodist Women since 1971. Mary loved people, playing the piano/organ and cards, and good food! She was witty, had a great sense of humor and was a living testimony to perseverance, strong will and the joy of life. She is presided in death by her parents, husband and siblings. Survivors include many nieces, nephews and friends. Rosemarie Rivera Mendoza
Rosemarie Rivera Mendoza, cherished mother, daughter, sister and friend, was taken by our Heavenly Father July 17, 2003 at the age of 35. She was born in Tucson, Arizona on February 21, 1968. She graduated from Sunnyside High School in 1986. She then worked as a Special Education Teacher's Assistant for the Sunnyside School District for many years. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Education and graduated with honors from the University of Arizona in May 2002. She recently worked at Mission Manor Elementary School as a first grade teacher. Rosemarie was a loving, outgoing person who made many close and lasting friendships. She was always devoted to her parents, her son, her sisters, nieces, nephews, and many friends. Many will miss her beautiful smile and outgoing personality. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Hortensia and Genaro Rivera and Luis and Rosa Melendez. Rosemarie is survived by her son, Anthony Mendoza; parents, Carlos and Celia Rivera; sisters, Elizabeth (Phillip) Nunez of Tucson, Gloria (Sergio) Cota of Mesa, Arizona, and Clara Rivera of Tempe, Arizona; many nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, and friends.
