BENNETT, Mary F., a long time resident of Tucson, died February 18, 1996. She was preceded in death by her husband, John K. Bennett, M.D. She is survived by her children, Roberta B. Gillilan of Kansas City, MO, Michael W. Bennett of DeKalb, IL and Christine A. Huie of Logan, UT; and two grandchildren. Mary was born and raised in Minneapolis, MN, and was graduated from St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in Rochester, MN. While practicing her profession at the Mayo Clinic, she met her future husband. After marriage, the couple moved to Tucson where John established his medical practice and they raised their three children. Mary was active in the Pima County Medical Auxiliary and the St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary, and served as President in both organizations. A private Memorial Mass was held at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church and innichment was at Holy Hope Cemetery.
BRISCOE, James Henry, II, was born November 3, 1928 in Washington, DC. He departed this life February 23, 1996 at his residence. He is preceded in death by his mother Maggie B. Briscoe, father James Henry Briscoe, Sr. and his sister Delores Frost. He served with the US Army from 1952 to 1955, educated in the District of Columbia, majored in music at the American University in Washington, DC and received his Bachelor of Arts degree. He was well known in the community for his volunteer work with several churches and various groups. Leaving to cherished fond memories are his loving wife, Gussie Darrow Briscoe; three sons, Derrick A. (Denise) Briscoe, Larry E. (Kathy) Briscoe of Tucson, AZ and James H. (Tiffany) Briscoe of Seattle, WA; one daughter, Terrie La Shea Briscoe of Tucson, AZ; five sisters, Carrie Morris, Margaret Walker and Constance Jennings, all of Washington, DC, Katheleen Latney and Lucille Briscoe of MD; five grandchildren, Jon, Aja and Angela Briscoe of Tucson, AZ, Kamaria Briscoe of FL and Ashley Moore of Tucson, AZ; and a host of other relatives and friends. Viewing of the body will be Tuesday, February 27 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at HEATHER MORTUARY, 1040 N. Columbus Blvd. Memorial Service will be Wednesday, February 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Prince Chapel AME Church, 602 N. Stone Ave, with the Rev. C. Jessel Strong officiating.
DICKINSON, Alethea, 82, passed away February 24, 1996. Preceded in death by her husband Glenwood, son David Kelley and daughter Patricia Sanford. Survived by brother, Robert Sample; daughters, Elaine Sciacca and Merna Pettinato; son, Darrell Kelley; 20 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren. DICKINSON, Leonard E., 81, died February 25, 1996. Leonard was born February 9, 1915 to Albert and Gertrude Dickinson in Velva, ND. He attended Jamestown College in that State, then did graduate work at the University of Wisconsin and Ohio State. He was a C.P.A. for many years with the firm of Ernst and Ernst in Minneapolis. He and his wife of 57 years, Carmen moved to Arizona in 1985. Leonard “Dick’ is survived by his wife, Carmen; three sons, Robert (Nancy) of Tucson, David (Lindsay) of Ogden, UT and Timothy (Mary) of St. Paul, MN; three grandsons and two great-granddaughters. Leonard was a member of the Spanish Trail Lutheran Church. Memorial Service 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 28 at Spanish Trail Lutheran Church, 8701 E. Beloved wife of 47 years of Thomas “Tommy’ Garcia; cherished mother of four children, Tom Garcia of Tempe, AZ, Marcia Garcia Tolomeo of Conway, AR, David Garcia and Michael Garcia of Tucson, AZ; also survived by six grandchildren, Mariana and Kati Garcia of Tempe, AZ, Renee Jackson, Eli and Maggie Tolomeo, Alex Garcia Mullins, all of Conway, AR; and two great-grandchildren, Robert and Alexis Jackson of Conway, AR. Survivors also include sisters, Lupita Yrun of Sierra Vista, AZ, Ramona Sotomayor and Armida Bravo of Tucson; surviving brothers, John Garcia of Phoenix, AZ, Albert Garcia and Jerry Garcia of Tucson. KRAMER, Cliff, 74, died February 23, 1996. Beloved husband of Anne and loving father to Lynn, Sandi, Barry, Keith and his extended family of Charlotte, Elizabeth and Megan. Grandfather of 13 and great-grandfather of one. Formerly of Chicago, Cliff served his country in WWII and moved to Tucson where he received his Masters degree in education from the University of Arizona in 1953. After 30 years of dedicated service as an educator and guidance counselor for Tucson Unified School District he retired in 1982. Affiliations and memberships include: Elks Club #385, Charter Member of the Southern Arizona Hiking Club, Nature Conservancy, Sierra Club, National Society – Sons of the American Revolution, Tucson Genealogical Society. PAZOS, Thomacine “Tomi’ Chellene, born February 21, 1978 in Phoenix, AZ went to be with the Lord on February 23, 1996. Preceded in death by her grandparents, Tomasa and Miguel Pazos and Florence Enos Rhodes. Survived by parents, John M. Pazos and Linda B. Rhodes; sisters, Naomi R. Pazos, Andrea (Daniel) Santo, Ann Marie Cooper; brothers, Jonathan (Alicia) Pazos, Ray M. (Erin) Pazos and Lonnie Cooper. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Thomacine was a Junior at Tucson High School. She had just turned 18, ready to begin her life and suddenly taken from us. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
