WARD, Lillie Mae, died peacefully February 23, 1996 at age 87. Mae was a loving mother to Gail (Eileen). Grandmother of Steffan (Anne) Crone and Molli Anne Sowell. Great-grandmother to Spencer and Evan Crone and Angeleen and Benjamin Sowell. The family wishes to give heartfelt thank and gratitude to her caregivers at Balmoral Care Center who took care of her physical needs, and to St. Alban’s Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEM) who administered to spiritual needs the last six years. ARTHUR, Elizabeth, 43, died March 1, 1996. Survived by her husband, Michael Arthur; daughters, Kristen and Sara Arthur, all of Tucson; brothers, William Babbit of Denmark, James Babbit of FL; sister, Mary Alyce Yates of FL. Mrs. Arthur received her BA in Psychology from Florida State. She was very active in the New Life Weslyen Christian Center, especially in AWANA and Children’s Christian Ministries. She was a member of the Tucson Quilters Association and was one of the leaders of CHET SE Home School Support Group. Liz was a devoted mother and wife and will be sadly missed by the many hearts she has touched. James graduated from Columbia High School in Tiffin, OH, also served in the U.S. Air Force and loved planes. Retired from TMC as a buyer and served as a volunteer scurry driver, member of TMC Alumni. Volunteered at the Pima Air Museum. Member of the Photographic Society of America and active in Desert View Finders Camera Club of Tucson. He loved life, people and nature; enjoyed the actives of Jarden Del Sol Club. Jim and Dot were active in square dance community for 30 years, current members of Western Whirlers Square Dance Club. Jim will be cremated, requesting no formal services. MOODY, Earl D., 87, of Tucson, AZ, passed away February 28, 1996. Survived by loving wife, Marie of eight years; son, Arly Moody of Tucson; daughter, Carol Pulver of Provo, UT; and step-daughter, Nellie Motes of Provo, UT; 18 grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his first wife of 52 years Velma Moody and a stepson Everett H. Brink. Earl was a carpenter and millwright by trade. He loved playing music and his animals and dancing. CALEFFIE, Virginia, passed away February 28, 1996 in Tucson, AZ. She was born February 8, 1920 in Charleroi, PA., a daughter of the late Colombo M. and Elisa Bigi Caleffie. She attended Charleroi schools graduating with the high school class of 1937. The family moved to Tucson, AZ., that year due to health problems. When her health permitted, she served as a volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital in the auxiliary office and pastoral care. A brother, John Caleffie, preceded her in death in 1976. Survivors include a niece, Virginia Lee Carey, of CA and a nephew, Christopher Caleffie of NC. She was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. A visitation will be held Monday, March 4, 1996 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at ARIZONA MORTUARY, 7 East University Blvd. Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Margaret Catholic Church. HOOGTERP, Henry H., 80, died March 1, 1996 in Tucson, AZ from a lengthy illness. Survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth C. Hoogterp; four daughters, Mary Jane Clement of Lawrence, KS, Judy DiClemente of Media, OH, Kathy Henderson of Nassau Bahamas and Margo Black of Tucson, AZ; six granddaughters and five grandsons; sister, Eleanor Johns; brother, Carlton Hoogterp; niece, Marian Fawcett. Preceded in death by one sister, Hazel Hoffert. Born August 22, 1915 in Hospers, IA and moved with his family soon afterwards to Rapid City, SD and resided there until 1990. Henry served in World War II as a combat engineer, and was owner of Holly’s Tobacco Shop and West River Monument Co. in Rapid City, SD. Henry was an avid stamp collector for many years. TUNIS, Pastor Paul Charles, 53, of Sierra Vista, formerly of Tucson, passed away February 29, 1996. Survived by mother, Clara M. Tunis of Sierra Vista; brothers, Ralph W. (Mildred) Tunis of Tucson, Robert (Dorothea) Tunis of Berrien Springs, MI, Herbert Wayne (Judy) Tunis of Snow Flake, AZ; sisters, Betty Reamus of CA, Myrtle Hilton of Flint, MI; several nieces and nephews. Pastor Tunis was ordained in 1968 by Assembly of God. Among his many assignments he had served as Associate Pastor of Victory Assembly of God, Tucson for twelve years, later as Pastor of First Assembly of God, Coolidge, and had recently became Pastor of Mt. View Assembly of God, Sierra Vista. Through the years he also served as an Evangelist. Services Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. Victory Assembly of God, 2561 W. Ruthrauff Rd., with Pastor Virgil L.
