DUITS, Rosie L., 92, passed away March 6, 1996. The daughter of Harry and Daisy Hufford. Born in Carroll County, Indiana January 26, 1904. One sister Lottie Minthorn of Lucerne, IN; two brothers and one sister preceded her in death. married Mack Sparks on April 29, 1922. He passed away August 22, 1960. She had nine children of which two sons are deceased, Duane and Ronald of IN. She is survived by two daughters and five sons, Almadean Brown, Walker Sparks and Patricia Hamacher, all of Tucson, AZ, Clarence, Don and Jerry of Monticello, IN and Bob of Tampa, FL; 24 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren also survive. No services are planned. Arrangements by BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

HAMILTON, Mary E. Hamilton, 65, of Tucson, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 1996. Survivors include loving daughter, Yvonne Pitts; loving son, James Pitts Jr.; grandchildren, Jessica, Andre and Michael Pitts, all of Tucson. Mrs. Hamilton was preceded in death by her husband, James Pitts Sr. in 1973. Sisters, Flossie Colleton, Rosa Chisolm, Janie Williams; brothers, Louis and Rev. Freddie Hamilton also survive. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, March 9th. Funeral Services will be at Catalina United Methodist Church, 2700 E. Speedway Blvd., 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 1996 with Rev. Ravin Gaston and Rev. Hal Cowart officiating. Burial will take place in South Carolina. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.

HARKINS, Betty, 75, of Tucson, died March 4, 1996. Born in Akron, OH, resided in Tucson for 10 years and was previously of Denver, CO. She was preceded in death by her husband, George L. Harkins. Survived by daughter, Susan Harkins of CO; son, James Davis Harkins of NV; sister, Phyllis (Marvin) Seese of Tucson; brother, Robert (Mitchko) Davis of Santa Ana, CA; aunt, Dorothy (Ralph) Daniels of Akron, OH; and her close friends of Tucson, Evelyn and Rose. Interment to be held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY and CEMETERY.

HARLEY, John Wilson, 85, of Tucson, AZ, died March 3, 1996. Survived by loving wife, Charlotte; one brother, Richard of MI; devoted daughter, Calla Hudos (Philip); and four grandchildren of Plant City, FL. Mr. Harley was a lifetime member of the Masonic Temple, Scottish Rites, Royal Order of the Jesters and 28 year member of the Oriental Band. Love and remembrance services will be held at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 9th with a gathering of friends following. Rev. Richard F. Rowley (Ret) will officiate. KENNEDY, Judith Ann, found her peace and rest after a lengthy illness on March 6, 1996. We, her family, will miss her great wit, beauty, style and grace. Beloved by her mother, Mrs. Frank L. Kennedy; her father, the late Frank L. Kennedy; her son, Mark Stanoch; her daughter, Amy Stanoch Yang; son-in-law, Jeoff Yang; treasured granddaughter, Megan Yang; sisters, Kathie Branson and Penny Wortham; brother, Michael Kennedy; stepchildren, Jennifer, Herbert, Alison; and nieces and nephews. All who knew her were privileged. A Memorial will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 1996 at the Tucson Museum of Art Courtyard. LAINE, Deborah Hinton, 44, died in her sleep March 3, 1996. Survivors are husband, Roger; daughter, Kimberly; son, Aaron; granddaughter, Monique; sisters, Dee Ann Woods and Carol Hinton; brothers, Richard and Michael Bradford, Shawn Vivian, Barry and Gregory Hinton; parents, Rhea and Margie Hinton. Funeral Services will be at Best Funeral Home, 9380 W. Peoria Ave, in Peoria at 10:00 a.m. Friday. Rev. Mark Harmon will conduct a Memorial Service at Central Church of the Nazarene, 404 S. Columbus, Tucson at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 9.

MALDONADO, Eleanor, wonderful mother, beloved wife and faithful witness of her Lord Jesus Christ went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 6, 1996. Known as “The Christmas Lady, ’ she used her job as a Sun Tran Driver to spread love and holiday cheer throughout Tucson. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Castorino; mother, Prudencia Aragon; and sister, Socorro Pacheco. Survived by her loving husband, Arturo Maldonado; children, Elizabeth (John) Farley, Theresa (Brent) Garrett, Janine Robison; grandchildren, John, Jimmy and Crystal Tarazon, Hayley Von Holten, Kylee and Taylor Garrett; sister, Frances Smith, all of Tucson; brothers, Charles, Thomas and Chris Castorino of CA. She was a member of Teamster Local #104 and Fuente De Vida Church. She will be greatly missed as she was loved so dearly by all whose lives she has touched. Services held Saturday 11:00 a.m. Del Norte Baptist Church with Pastors Carl Vereen and A. B. Blair officiating. Interment to follow Evergreen Cemetery. Mother of Maurine Paluszek of Tucson; sister of Kayoupetwa Dorkas of AZ; grandmother of Katherine Rodriguez, Richard (Debbie) Paluszek and Terry (Eva) Paluszek; great grandmother of Tisha, Adam, Alexander, Brittany and Brandon. She was preceded in death by husband, Ralph Tawangyawma and son-in-law, Richard Paluszek. Friends may call from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 8, 1996 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. Burial will take place on the Hopi Indian Reservation in Hotevilla, AZ. ZAHNISER, Rodney Kirk, 51, died March 6, 1996 at the Veterans Hospital. Zahniser, a local musician was known to his many fans as Rodney Kirk. He is survived by his brother Richard; daughter Monica and sister and brother-in-law, Maura and Morey Fernandez. A Memorial Service will be held at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Chapel at 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 8. Remembrances to the American Heart Assoc.

REDONDO, Florentino L., 88, of Globe, AZ, died March 5, 1996. Survivors include wife, Adeline Redondo; daughters, Mary Garcia and Alice Ruiz; sister, Maria Luisa Castellanos; four grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 1996 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 201 S. Broad, Globe, AZ. Visitation will be 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Friday, March 8, 1996 at Miles-Damron Funeral Home, 237 S. Joseph (Joe) C. Salcido 72, died peacefully in Tucson, March 6, 1996. Wonderful father and loving husband, is survived by his wife, Mary; and four children, Erma Garcia (Rudy), Linda Ayala (John) Ralph Salcido (Marcella) and Joe Jr. (Michelle); six grandchildren; sisters, Mary Rico, Rosario Leonardi; and one brother, Jerry Salcido. He is preceded in death by his parents, Geronimo and Faustina Salcido and brothers, Jesus, Edward. Viewing will be March 8th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with Rosary from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at BRING’S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott. Mass will be held at St. Monica’s Catholic Church, 212 W. SKUBIZ, John Joseph, 82, died March 4, 1996 at his home in Oro Valley of Lung Cancer. He was born December 4, 1913 in St. Louis, MO to John and Mary (Premrn) Skubiz. Graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 1939 and married Grace Ethel Treece on November 20, 1940 in St. Louis. Served as an Ensign in the Navy in WWII and was a partner in Monarch Hardwood Lumber Co. in Chicago from 1945 to 1976, when he retired as chairman of the board. He was President-Elect of the National Hardwood Lumber Association and lifetime honorary director. He was also past president and treasurer of the National Lumber Trade Association and a founder of the Oro Valley Club in Tucson. He is survived by his wife, Grace Skubiz of Oro Valley; daughter, Carol Ann Bemis of Eugene, OR; son, John Skubiz Jr. of Steamboat Springs, CO; grandchildren, Scott Savidge of Santa Barbara, CA and Beth Savidge of San Diego, CA; great granddaughter, Ashlyn Savidge of San Diego, CA; sisters, Alma Skubiz of St. Louis, MO and Lillian Mahuar of Tucson; and brother, Raymond Skubiz of St. Louis, MO; and six nieces and nephews. Services will be Saturday, March 9 at 4:00 p.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave., Tucson. TAYLOR, James A., 81, retired rancher died March 5, 1996. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carrie D. Taylor; his daughter-in-law, Lee Taylor (Don) Johnson and son, John (Marilou) Apodaca; grandchildren, Kim (Steve) Freeze, Kena Taylor, Kelly (Carl) Taylor and Kenneth J. (Amy) Taylor; and great grandchildren, Carrie, J.D., Billie Jo, Clark, Taylor, Leona and Kaitlin. He was preceded in death by son, Kenneth D. Taylor in 1991. BANHOLZER, Neva Lea, 60, of Tucson, died March 2, 1996. Survived by husband, Carl; daughters, Alyse De Prieto, Tyia Arnoult, Marika McCue; son, Bowen Johnson; mother, Melba Darling Paulson; sister, Ardis Paulson; one grandchild, Jacque Arnoult. She was an autoharpist and teacher, was employed in the Tucson school systems. She formed “Simple Gifts’, a performing duet (oldtime music) and also played native American flute. Service Private. Carroll; son, James Carroll of Mesa; adopted son, James Christie of Warrenton, MO; brother, James See of Iowa Falls, IA; and sister, Betty Whitney of Maplewood, MO. A resident of Tucson since 1957 former hometown of Laurens, IA. Mass was held Friday, March 8, 1996 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. HARRIS, George Thomas, 92 years old, died Thursday, March 7, 1996. He was an area resident for 79 years. He drove a truck for San Xavier Rock and Sand Material. He was member of Eagles Lodge 180. Survived by wife, Betty of Tucson; daughter, Shirley Taylor of TX; daughter, Judy Parks of Tucson; daughter, Patti Mather; son, Jim Parks, both of IN; four grandchildren; several great grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Kenneth (Cean) Hollenbaugh of Columbus, OH, Eileen (William) Duhey of San Diego, CA, Wayne (Eloise) Hollenbaugh of Plymouth, IN; brother, Howard Hollenbaugh; sister, Dorothy Schoonover, both of IN; and nine grandchildren.
