SAGI, Lois (Alberta), 70, died on March 8, 1996 after a prolonged illness. Mrs. Sagi was born in Utica, IL and moved with her husband, Joe from Ottawa, IL to Arizona for health reasons in 1952. Mrs. Sagi worked for over 20 years in the retail industry and served as assistant manager in Sears children’s department prior to retiring. Mrs. Sagi is survived by her husband of 49 years, Joe; and sons, Sam (48), and G.J. (38). Also mourning her loss are daughters-in-law, Angela and Linda; grandchildren, Natalie, Natasha, Brett, Stephen, Kara, Shannon and Geri; and great grandchildren, Dacion and Jarrett. She took great pride, prior to her illness, in introducing youth to the out of doors, a heritage she proudly passed on to the entire family. A Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, and friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, March 10 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. Mrs. Sagi will be buried in Ottawa, IL on Wednesday next to her parents.

SHARP, Sophia, passed away February 10, 1996. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 10th at Sabbar Shrine Temple, 450 S. Tucson Blvd. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Transportation Fund for Crippled Children Sabbar Shrine Temple.

SMITH, Philip Hawley, 72, died at home on March 7, 1996 after a long bout with cancer. he was born and grew up in Fairfield, CT and graduated from the Taft School, Williams College and Yale Law School. During World War II he flew Corsairs as a Naval pilot. He practiced law in Connecticut where he was active in the Community, primarily for the Boy Scouts and the Episcopal Church. Mr. Smith moved to Tucson in 1973 where he became president of the Tucson Museum of Art and the Yale Club of Tucson and was active in the Tucson Community Foundation. He was a member of the Tucson Country Club and the Catalina Evans Golf Association. He retired from practice of law in 1973 and the firm Duffield, Miller, Young, Adamson and Alfred. He is survived by his wife, B.J.; sons, Putnam of Loganville, GA and Peter of Peapack/Gladstone, NJ; and daughter, Sarah Peterson of Edmonds, WA; as well as seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, David of Fairfield, CT; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, March 15, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Philip’s in the Hills Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be sent to the Tucson Community Foundation which is insuring the strong future of Tucson arts and charities. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

WILLIAMS, Virsie Lee, 85, of Tucson, died March 7, 1996. Survived by children, Alice Haynes, Tucson, Rosetta Bullock, CA, Jonnie Hopkin Mathe, Tucson, Clyde B. Williams, Tucson; 12 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchildren. Mrs. Williams has resided in Tucson for over 50 years. Funeral Services 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 1996 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, with Rev. Keith Graham of Southside Baptist Church officiating. Interment South Lawn Cemetery. GERSTENFELD, Joanne E., 67, of Tucson. Died March 9, 1996. Survived by husband, Melvin Gerstenfeld Lt./Col, USAF Ret.; children, Renee (Larry) Goldstone of NM, Jack (Leslie) Gerstenfeld of VA, and Tracy Nyman of MT; eight grandchildren; and her mother, Madeline Rogers of Phoenix. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Burial will follow in East Lawn Palms Cemetery. MILLER, Merlin (Bud) Kenneth, 70 years old, died Friday, March 8, 1996 in Tucson. Survived by his wife, Nola Miller of Tucson; three sons, Michael K. Miller of Urbana, OH, Stephen R. Miller of Lake Bronson, MN, Bryan D. Miller of Parker, CO; sister, Clara Sweeney of Madison, WI; 13 grandchildren; one great grandchild. Memorial Services for Mr. Miller will be held Tuesday, March 12, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. John on the Desert Presbyterian Church, 2695 N. Houghton Rd. Family suggest memorials may be made to the Cancer Fund. Arrangements handled by WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 881-0338.

OBREGON, Maria Delia R., 70, died March 9, 1996. Mother of Jesus (Elsa) Obregon of Douglas and Richard (Margaret) Obregon of Tucson. Sister of Martha Rivera, Alice Garcia, Carmen Flores and Julian Rivera. Grandmother of Gregory Obregon. PRIESTMAN, Charles Kent, 99, of Tucson, passed away March 6, 1996. Survived by wife, Madaline; step-son, John W. Riley, III; and his family, brother, Fred; children, Jo Anne Gino, Patricia (George) Winter; grandchildren, Maureen, Stephen, William, Cathleen, Elizabeth, and susan; great-grandchildren, Donna, Keri Lynn, Katie, Emmett, Lisa, Erin, Robin, Anneliese, and Devin. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles V. Grigsby. Cryptside Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 1996 at South Lawn Mausoleum, 5401 S. Park Ave. Arrangements by ARIZONA MORTUARY.

ROUSE, Evelyn G., 87, died March 7, 1996. Sister of Darlene (Thomas) Gray of Tucson, Dorothy (Clarence) Mills of CA and Warren Rouse of WA state. Numerous nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews also survive. Arrangements by BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

TERRY, Grace S., 90, of Tucson passed away at Carondelet Family Center on March 7, 1996. She is survived by son, Ronald J. (Wava) of Dubuque, IA; four grandchildren, Ann (Gene) Mitchell, Rebecca (Naval) Horch, John (Karla) Terry and Sarah (Milton) Koons. Also survived by 8 great grandchildren and one great great-grandson. Mrs. Terry was born SD on May 21, 1905. After the death of her mother, she was taken in by the James Sanders family of Fort Madison, IA. She was educated at Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, and taught school in Missouri Valley until her marriage to Arthur B. Terry in 1926. She was a homemaker in Ida Grove, IA and an accomplished pianist who played for church services for a great many years. Mrs. Terry and her husband moved to Tucson in 1952 where he passed away in 1959. She became a practical nurse and was employed at The House by the Side of the Road Care Facility until her retirement in 1975. After experiencing a stroke, Mrs. Terry resided at Carondelet Holy Family Center for the past five years. She was a longtime member of the PEO Society where she made many dear friends. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 12 at ARIZONA MORTUARY, 7 E. University Blvd. with Rev. Martin Abraham of Trinity Presbyterian Church officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Interment at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Carondelet Holy Family Center, 1802 W. WITCZAK, Walter J., 87, died March 8, 1996. Survived by his wife, Wanda Witczak; children, Barbara (Randolph) Monroe, all of Tucson; sister, Mary Karwoski of IL; grandchildren, Kimberly and Barbara. Mass will be offered at 9:00 a.m. Monday, March 11 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 1375 S. Camino Seco, with interment to follow at Our Lady of the Desert Cemetery. CASTLE, Michael A., 39, of Tucson, died March 8, 1996 in Maryville, TN. He is survived by his wife, Terri; and children, Leah Michelle, Michael Don and Amanda Mae. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, March 13, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. at HEATHER MORTUARY, 1040 N. Columbus. Interment will follow at South Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

CRONICAN, Josephine (Jean), died March 9, 1996. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, John G. Sr. Loving mother of Jean-Marie (Donald) Bushell, John G. (Flo) Cronican, Jr and Richard A. (Dana) Cronican; beloved grandmother of 16 and great-grandmother of 14. Mrs. Cronican was active at St. Francis de Sales Parish for 26 years. She was a member of the choir and the Young at Heart Group. She was a member of Our Mother of Sorrows Golden Agers for many years. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 12 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. GAVITT, Elizabeth, was called to the presence of her Lord Jesus on March 10, 1996. She was born November 16, 1921 in Monclova Coahuila, Mexico. She is survived by her husband, Burton S. Gavitt; sons, Paul H. and Edwin C. Gavitt of Tucson; and daughter, Marian E. Lumpkin of El Paso; also son-in-law, Larry L. Lumpkin; and grandchildren, Taylor, Jennifer, Amy and Philip Lumpkin; also surviving are her brother, Horacio Castro-Ramos of Phoenix; and sisters, Bertha C. Kelley and Ofelia Almanza of Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico. Elizabeth enjoyed a career as a medical doctor. She began in 1946 doing social service medicine in the town of Gitila near Matamoros, Mexico. She later completed internship and residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, achieving board certification in anatomic pathology. She served as Director of Laboratories for Pima County General Hospital from 1961 to 1974. Her last years were invested as a clinic physician with Pima County Health Department. She loved her co-workers dearly and was proud of their professionalism. She was a faithful wife and mother who took her family’s needs as her own desires. Most of all she loved her Lord Jesus and sought to serve Him with all her heart. She invited all who knew her to do the same. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 13 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Memorial Service will be held Thursday, March 14 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1825 N. Alvernon Way. Burial will follow in East Lawn Palms Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Emmanuel Baptist Church.

GOSS, Karl L., 87, of Tucson, died March 10, 1996. Survivors include daughter, Mary Ann Schultz; three grandchildren, Laura Sellman, Robin Thompson and Scott Schultz; nine grandchildren; and a brother, Harry Goss also survive. Services will be private. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

HOPKINS, David Edward, 23, of Tucson, died March 8, 1996. Survived by parents, Tom E. and Sheila E. Hopkins of Tucson; sister, Michelle of Tucson. KLEMINSKI, Frank Peter, 106 years old, died Sunday, March 10, 1996 in Tucson. Survived by his son, Frank Kleminski, Jr. of Gordon, WI; one daughter, Ruth Botkin of Tucson; AZ; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Mass for Mr. Kleminski will be held Thursday, March 14 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 215 S. Craycroft, with burial in Clavary Cemetery at Lake Station, IN. MARZANO, Albert Rocco, 43, longtime resident of Tucson, died Saturday, March 9, 1996. Mr. Marzano was the Top Producer for Holmes-Tuttle Ford Dealership. He was also owner of “Marz Unlimited’ Company, manufacturers for Giftware Industry. Survived by his wife, Linda Marzano; son, Daniel Marzano of the family residence; his parents, Dr. Daniel and Victoria Marzano of Deal, NJ; brothers, Paul Marzano of IL, Joseph Marzano of Philadelphia, PA; nephew, Nicholas Marzano of Aurora, IL; grandmother, Regina Paolini of Maplewood, NJ; step-children, Rene Ehlers of San Diego, CA, Curtis Ehlers of Tucson; step-grandchild, Natalie Nunez. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 12, 1996 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Scripture Service scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. at Magee. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, March 13, 1996 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. OTTO, Victoria A., beloved wife of Dr. T. M. Otto, passed away March 8, 1996 at the age of 82. She is survived by her husband; son Ted, his wife Louise, and their children, Justin and Devin; son Tom and his wife, Jean; son David, his wife, Iona and their son Seth; son Jon, and his wife, Carrol, and their children, Sam and Joe; daughter, Vicki Ann Danen and her children, Nikki and Bill; her sister, Grace G. Scholz. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Clara Scholz, her brother Ralph and her son-in-law Tom Danen. The body will lie in state at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 830 N. 1st Ave., in Tucson, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 1996.
