He was a member of Royal Rangers, Eastside Assembly of God, 20 years of military service and a firefighter at DMAFB for over 20 years. Funeral Service 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 14 at Eastside Assembly of God Church, 1930 S. Wilmot Rd., with Rev. Dave Stevens officiating. Interment to follow at TMP East Lawn. BAKER, Martena, 77, died March 12, 1996. Survived by her husband, Tim Baker; children, Calvin (Nancy) Baker of Tucson, Roxine (Raymond) Geerdes of IL, Linda (Richard) Buns of NC and June (Robert) Gudeman of FL; sisters, Helen Dekam of MN, Alma Spront of MN and Esther (Esdred) Spront of CO; 16 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren also survive. CASTRO, Gilbert A., 66, died March 11, 1996. Survived by his wife, Carol Castro; sons, Eric J. Castro of Tucson, Gary Castro of CA; daughter, Christal Castro of CA; stepsons, Brian Petho and Eddie Petho; stepdaughter, Sharon (Carlos) Pruitt of MO; six grandchildren also survive. Mr. Castro was preceded in death by a stepson, Mark Petho. He retired from the USAF, two tours of duty in Vietnam and is a retired letter carrier. CAUBLE, Vernette Cedarleaf, 80 years old, died March 12, 1996, Tuesday, in Tucson. She is survived by her husband, Brig. Gen. Gordon B. Cauble (U.S. Army ret.) of Tucson; two sons, Thomas G. Cauble of Richmond, VA and Kenneth D. Cauble of Tucson; two daughters, Nancy Terrill of Richmond, VA and Kathleen Matalone of Great Falls, VA; two brothers, Rev. Douglas Cedarleaf of Minneapolis, MN and Rev. Wallace Cedarleaf of Scituate, MA; 11 grandchildren, Arian, Beau, Caley, Stephanie, Darren, Matthew, Sarah, Nicholas, Gina, Rigo, and Ryan. Vernette was a devoted wife, a loving mother and nurturing grandmother. She lived a life of love in Christ for her family, friends, and the less fortunate. Vernette contributed her time, efforts, and energy to help and care for others in many ways. She regularly volunteered at five local nursing homes. Vernette was active in her Sunday School, church, and its programs. She actively supported many charities, including the Officers Christina Fellowship, the Red Cross, Christian Children’s Fund, Team Challenge, the Crisis Pregnancy Center, and others. Vernette loved music and played the piano and organ everyday, she loved God, life, beauty, joy, music, family and friends. Vernette lived a life full of purpose fulfilled everyday. Her family and friends celebrate her ascension into Heaven. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 15, 1996 in the First Evangelical Free Church, 4700 N. Swan. CECIL, Martha E., 86 years old, died March 13, 1996, Wednesday in Tucson. Graveside Services, Thursday 1:00 p.m. March 14, 1996 at Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 N. Oracle, Tucson. Arrangements by WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 881-0338. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Cecil.

DAVIS, Geraldine Regina “Gerry’, died at home surrounded by family on March 10, 1996 after a short bout with cancer. Gerry was born in Chicago on December 14, 1929 and moved to Tucson shortly after her marriage to Mike on April 7, 1951. She is survived by Mike, her loving husband and best friend of 44 years; her daughter, Kathy (Mike) Ball; sons, Michael and Jay (Cecilia); grandchildren, Lindsey Kate, Kyle and Ryan and numerous other relatives. She has now joined her parents, Casey and Regina Wiet, in eternal peace. Gerry worked as a secretary for several companies until 1960. She then helped Mike start an accounting practice where she was office manager. Throughout her life, Gerry was a devoted mother and daughter who cared for her children and parents. She was extremely talented and enjoyed music, painting, fishing and traveling. Visitation Services will be held at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, on Friday, March 15 between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday morning, March 16 at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Hope Cemetery Mausoleum, 3555 N. Oracle. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House or a charitable foundation of choice. Funeral Services arranged by VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2545 N. FOSTER, Fannie Lou, 61, of Tucson, died March 10, 1996. She is survived by children, Pam, Cheryl, Charles, Clifford, Vella and John; grandchildren, Phil, Addy, Heather, Cole, Samantha, and Cassandra; sister, Betty Sue, Elaine; and brother, Gale; brother-in-law, Harry; and son-in-laws, Paul and Wayne. HUGHES, Marvin Max, 76, of Tucson, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 1996 at his home. He is survived by his wife, Neva; daughters, Marlene (Paul) Harrison of Dolores, CO and Arlette (Don) Mendenhall of Hereford, AZ; one grandson, Jeffrey (Audra) Harrison of Tucson; three granddaughters, April, Amanda and Tiffany Mendenhall, all of Hereford; one step-granddaughter, Janet Brooks of Tucson; four sisters, one brother and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside services 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 18 at East Lawn Palms Cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Rd. A Visitation will be held at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, Sunday, March 17, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

JOHNSON, Norman W., 68, passed away March 11, 1996. Resident of Tucson, AZ and Brunswick, OH. Beloved husband of Martha A. (Kekic); loving father of Christopher of Cape Coral, FL, Susan Tolle of Spokane, WA, Matthew of Grand Rapids, MI and Peter of N. Bonneville, WA; grandfather of Rachel Gerk, Paul Johnson, Ryan Farrant, Nicki Albers, and Nate Von Snyder; brother of Rita Lisowski, George (Alice) Hasfurther of Cleveland, OH, LeRoy of Leesburg, FL, and Carl of San Jose, CA. Preceded in death by his father, Claus and mother, Anna of Cleveland, OH and sister, Mary Voegerl. Longtime employee of East Ohio Gas in Cleveland, OH, a member of St. Melany Byzantine Catholic Church in Tucson, , AZ. He was an avid golfer, bird watcher and loving family man and will be greatly missed. A Divine Liturgy Service at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 15, 1996 at St. Melany Byzantine Catholic Church, 1212 N. MEINHART, Gladys S., 92, of Tucson, passed away March 11, 1996. Survived by daughter, Marilyn G. (David F.) Johnson; son, Frederick Earle “Fritz’ Meinhart, Jr., both of Tucson; granddaughters, Eileen (Erik) Anderson of Modesto, CA, Dawn Johnson of Phoenix; great grandchildren, Daniel Anderson and Alice Anderson; several nieces and nephews, including John Allen and Robert Allen. Predeceased by husband Frederick E. Meinhart, Sr. on January 7, 1983. Services are to be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the name of Gladys S. MULLER, Edward Nicholas “Nick’ Jr., born March 22, 1915 in Staten Island, NY, the son of Edward Nicholas Muller and Flora Jean Clark Muller, died Monday, March 11, 1996 in Tucson. He was preceded in death by his son, Professor Edward Nicholas “Ned’ Muller. He is survived by his wife, Mary Clay Muller; sons, Richard Clay Muller, Samuel C. Muller; sister, Elinor “Nora’ Muller; and three grandchildren. Nick had an unusual friendly disposition, and was always interested in his family and friends. We will always miss him. Memorial Service 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 15, 1996 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Inurnment will be at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Philadelphia, PA.

NEUSTADTER, Matthew “Chewy’ to his friends, born March 21, 1959, died March 10, 1996, 36 years old. Survived by two sons, daughter, sister, brother, brother-in-law; three nieces, two nephews; and many relatives in Wisconsin. Family and friends get-together on Sunday, March 17, 1996 from noon to 3:00 p.m. at Rainbow Bar, Benson Highway.

PUNCER, Evelyn H. (nee Lietz), 84, of Tucson, formerly of Wauwatosa, WI, was born to eternal life on March 11, 1996. Mrs. Puncer was a graduate of Milwaukee Hospital School of Nursing in 1932 and Menninger Foundation in Topeka, Kansas in 1933. She worked over 10 years as a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Tucson and was a member of Order of Eastern Star. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank L. Puncer and survived by daughter, Vicki L. Kurt and son-in-law, Dr. Kenneth J. Kurt of Franksville, WI; son, Frank W. Puncer of Tucson; grandson, Jason F. Kurt of Franksville, WI.; and sister-in-law, Mildren Hannon of Hubertus, WI. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 14 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd., where visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Entombment will follow in East Lawn Palms Mausoleum.

SHIPMAN, Winfred R., Lt. Col. USAF Ret., 78, died March 11, 1996 in Tucson. Born in Cullman, AL. Resided in Tucson for 25 years. Survived by wife, Shirley M. Shipman of Tucson; and nieces and nephews. After retirement from the Air Force he was active as a Real Estate Broker for several years. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers family suggest donations to Masonic Burn Center. Arrangements by WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway, 881-0338.

WARNER, Ruth E., 76, passed away March 9, 1996. Born in Owosso, MI on March 8, 1920, she was a Tucson resident since 1968. Survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Donald; sons, James Warner of Groveland, FL, Robert Warner of Tucson; and daughter, Mary Saubert of Tucson. She leaves her brother, Bill; and two sisters, Louva and Peg; as well as her three grandchildren, Rachel Saubert, Randy Warner and Robyn Warner. Mrs. Warner was a respected employee of the Arizona Daily Star until her retirement in 1985. We will miss her gentle love. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made to the American Heart Association. Private Services were held. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

WHATTON, Richard James, 46 years old, died March 11, 1996 Monday in Tucson. Survived by his ex-wife, Judith Chapman of Tucson; three sons, Richard Whatton of VA, Michael Whatton and Anthony Whatton, both Tucson; two daughters, Karlista Brennan and LaShel Hornberger, both of VA; two brothers, Larry Whatton of CO and Joseph Whatton of FL; one sister, Dorothy Stelling of NJ; four grandchildren. BUCKMASTER, Frances Foster, 95, died in her sleep March 13, 1996. Mrs. Buckmaster has lived the past 10 years at Villa Campana retirement residence in Tucson and was previously a homeowner for 10 years in Sierra Vista. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bruce MacNeill Buckmaster (1967) and survived by son, Robert B. Buckmaster and daughter-in-law, Marion Buckmaster of Sierra Vista; granddaughters, Lynn Buckmaster and Ellen Buckmaster, both of Tucson; great grandson, Joseph R. Griffin of Tucson; sister, Ruth Littlepage; and niece, Ellen Wilson, both of Redding, CA. At Mrs. Buckmaster’s request there will be no services. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY. Interment will be at a later date in Rock Creek Cemetery, Washington, D.C.

CRUTCHLEY, Roy F. (Bud), age 75, a 45 year resident of Tucson, passed away March 13, 1996, after a long illness. Mr. Crutchley was a member of operating Engineers Local #428, a member of the Forresters and D.A.V. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Katherine; sons, William (Carla) Crutchley and Robert Crutchley; daughters, Pamela (Terry) Yehling and Mary Jerew; six grandchildren; one great grandchild. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 1996 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Ave. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice Family Care Foundation, 1920 W. Rudasill, Tucson, AZ. 85704.

CURRIER, Guy, Jr., 52, of Tucson, died March 13, 1996. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Cathy; daughters, Kimberly and Darcy; son-in-law, Darren McAdams; aunt, Mrs. J. Chase Scully, Jr, of Peoria; aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. J. Arthur Houle, Jr., of Santa Fe; Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Gaub and family and Mrs. Cindy Bartley and family as well as other wonderful family members and numerous friends. Guy was born in Tucson, a Tucson High School graduate and U of A graduate. He was Vice President of CB Commercial Real Estate. Memorial Services will be held at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 9071 E. Old Spanish Trail at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 1996. A reception will follow at the Currier home. Memorials may be sent to St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church or the Arizona Cancer Center. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.
