SMITH, Agnes T., passed away March 10, 1996. Born June 6, 1924 in Mortier, Belgium, she was married to Don L. Smith, October 20, 1945 in Belgium. They later moved to Detroit, MI and then to Tucson. Following a long recovery from a near fatal auto-pedestrian accident in 1962, she became a respected and successful associate in the D.L. Smith Real Estate firm, until her retirement in 1975. Her husband Don passed away in 1985. She was active in French social and cultural groups and was a thoughtful and caring supporter of many local and national rehabilitation, environmental, musical, museums and cultural organizations. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Paul Smith of Tucson; nieces, Suzanne Trappman and Rebecca Bingham, both of CO; sister, Marie-Jeanne Simon Bourbuet; nieces, Jacqueline, Marcelle, Marie-Jeanne and Eve; nephews, Jean-Pierre, Pol, Jean-Marie and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews. Services were private. Contributions in her memory may be made to The Beacon Foundation for the Mentally Retarded, Inc., of Tucson, AZ. Arrangements were by EVERGREEN MORTUARY and CEMETERY.

WORTHINGTON, Mona, 74, of Tucson, passed away March 13, 1996. Mona is survived by husband, Ed; daughters, Sharon Nesseth and Casey Worthington; son, Michael; three grandchildren; and sister, Jean Markley. Mona was born April 21, 1921 in Seven Lakes, NM. As a child she moved to Chaco Canyon where her father worked for the Indian Service. Mona moved to Flagstaff, married raised her family and worked as an LPN at Flagstaff Hospital until her retirement in 1963. Mona and her husband moved to Tucson in April 1995. REDONDO, Luis D. Jr., Age 74, passed away March 16, 1996. Preceded in death by parents Luis L. and Maria D. Redondo and by wife of 49 years Margaret Hale Redondo. Survived by wife Pauline and son Robert L. Murray. Also survived by daughters, Irene (Bill) Churchward of Whittier, CA and Gloria (Louis) Lopez of Tucson; sons, Louis (Mary) Redondo of San Jose, CA and Rene (Alice) Redondo of Tucson; grandchildren, Tami (Dan) Gifford, Randy (Kim) Churchward, Mindy Churchward, Lisa, Louie and Rennie Lopez, Steve (Christina) Redondo, Irene (Dave) Donnelly, Lea (Matt) Canepa, Rick (Lorrie) Redondo, and Stacy and Jeanne Redondo; great grandchildren, Steven and Zachary Redondo; sisters, Charlotte Vega, Mary Robles and Esther Anaya; brothers, Edward, Henry, Danny and Charlie Redondo; 92 year old aunt Maria Louisa Castellanos of Globe; and by a multitude of nieces, nephews and friends. Born in Nogales on April 5, 1921, Luis was a proud member of the pioneer Redondo family. He started working at age 12, first as a ranch hand then later as an electrician, construction worker, long haul truck driver, a short stint in the Army during World War II, and ultimately retired from a 40 year railroad career as a diesel mechanic and instructor at Pacific Fruit Express Company and the Southern Pacific Railroad. He was awarded the Wise Owl Safety Award which exemplified his philosophy of teaching, by example, safety in concert with his tremendous work ethic and was a lifetime member of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen. He was a 15 year member and Vice Mayor of the South Tucson City Council. He was a former member of the National Association of Latin Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) and of the Arizona Historical Society. Luis received many honors from various dignitaries including President Jimmy Carter, Senator Dennis DeConcini, Congressman Mo Udall, and Supervisor Danny Eckstrom. Luis was an active member of the Latin American Club, American Legion Post 68, and was intensely involved with his beloved South Tucson Lions Club, whose motto was “We Serve’ reflected his dedication to helping others less fortunate. Luis served many years as Santa Claus during children’s events sponsored by the Latin American Club and the City of South Tucson. He would ride the fire truck to distribute goodies to kids throughout the community. Besides the tremendous fellowship, his favorite activities with the South Tucson Lions Club included the Children’s Christmas Event, the Mariachi Conference for La Frontera Center and the Norteno Festival. He was very supportive of the Santa Ana, Sonora Lions Club and was honored for his efforts. Luis took his role as patriarch of the Redondo family very seriously and his legacy will be his unwavering love of family, his uncanny ability to focus on each member when they were in need, his passion for life and hunting, and his incredibly keen sense of humor which put all of life into proper perspective. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 18, 1996 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. ABENDANO, Robert “Bobby’, 37 years young, went to be with our Lord Saturday, March 16, 1996 in a one car accident on an icy road in MN, where he had lived for the past several years. He leaves his wife Sharri and two daughters, Danielle nine years of age, Amber Sue three years of age, of Detroit Lakes, MN; his parents, David and Jenny Abendano; a sister, Margaret; and brothers, Gabriel (Colleen), George; and niece, Tanya of Catalina, AZ; brother, Daniel Abendano of Superior, AZ. DUCHEMIN, Besse Sherrill, died peacefully in Phoenix Sunday, March 10 following a brief illness. She was born in Toledo, OH in 1909 and spent her childhood in Findlay, OH and Chipley, FL. For many years Besse sang professionally in the Chicago area, where she met and married William F. Sherrill. Upon his death she moved to Phoenix and married William Glenn DuChemin, who preceded her in death. Over the past 30 years, Besse also lived in Green Valley and in Tucson. She is survived by her sons, William N. Sherrill (Marjorie) and Donald M. Sherrill (Donna) and her step-son, Robert P. DuChemin (Julia); her grandchildren, Diane C. Ogle (Jack), Karen S. Haas (Allan), William J. Sherrill (Sharon) and Benjamin P. Sherrill. She is also survived by step-grandchildren, Richard DuChemin, Jeffrey DuChemin and Amy DuChemin.
