STEBBINS, Annie, 88, of Tucson, died March 20, 1996. In loving memory, survived by her daughter, Nancy Tyson of Tucson; her son, Peter Stebbins; and daughter-in-law, Ellen Walker Stebbins of Hollis, NH; granddaughters, Karin Stebbins Lloyd of Malden, MA; brother, Robert Wallin of Boston, MA; several nieces and nephews and many friends. She was raised in Hyde Park, MA and resided in Melrose, MA for 60 years before moving to Tucson in 1993. She was predeceased by her husband, Everett Stebbins. While living in Melrose she worked at the local hospital and volunteered much of her time to several youth organizations, church activities, the Red Cross, and the Senior Citizen Transportation Program. ULSH, Joseph E. Jr., 74, died March 9, 1996. He was a quality control supervisor. Mr. Ulsh was born March 28, 1921 in Newport, PA to his parents Joseph and Sarah Kapp Ulsh Sr. He married his wife of 47 years, Mildred Brice Ulsh in 1948 and moved to Fort Worth in 1950. He worked a number of years with General Dynamics and retired in 1973 from Hughes Aircraft in Tucson. After retirement he resided in Lipan in Galveston before making his home in Tucson for the past three years. He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred in 1990. He is survived by his daughters, Bonnie (Donald) Steinman of TX and Pamela (Robert) Henrichsen of PA; brother, Dick Ulsh of PA; five grandchildren; and one great granddaughter; and friend, Linda Wolff of Tucson; and several nieces and nephews. GOLDMAN, Rose O. (Jerri), age 84, died March 16, 1996, at her home in Tucson Estates where she lived since 1968. A graduate of William and Mary, Mrs. Goldman was a member of the first women’s class of the New York City Police Department and served with the force until her retirement. Before her illness, she was a long time docent at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum, was a member of the Audubon Society, and for many years was a Tucson Adult Literacy Volunteer, teaching English as a second language. She was inveterate reader, an enthusiastic birder, and traveled extensively. She is survived by Maxine Heiman and Lucy Copestake, friends of many years. She will be cremated and her ashes scattered. GOODWIN, Mary Anderson, 78, a resident of Tucson since 1937, died March 24, 1996. Survived by son, Eugene Goodwin; daughters, Phyllis Linson and Rosemary St. Aubin; sisters, Frances Ostanock of Youngstown, OH and Lucy Salars of Silver City, NM; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband, LeRoy A. Goodwin. She was a charter member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, as well as a volunteer for Casa de Los Ninos, Meals on Wheels and Department of Corrections Youth Services. She drove a school bus for the Marana School District and worked in the cafeteria for both the Marana and Amphitheater School Districts. WOODS, Matthew Paul, age 19, of Tucson, AZ passed away peacefully at home on March 22, 1996. His 13-year battle with a brain tumor was an inspiration to all who knew him. He is survived by his mother, Peggy Woods; father, Loren (Teri) Woods; brother, Daniel Woods; grandpa, Ray Himes; and half-brother, Jerry Woods, all of Tucson. Also survived by his grandpa, Meade (Jackie) Woods of Sierra Vista, AZ; grandma, Catherine Woods of Victorville, CA; half-sister, Laura (Josh) Young of Portland, OR; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandma, Violet Himes. Matthew was a student in the Amphitheater High School Special Education Program and worked in the Amphi High School Cafeteria. He will always be remembered for his bubbly personality, his love for all living things and his radiant smile. His family would like to thank the faculty and staff of Amphitheater High School for all of their support, the doctors of Western Neurosurgery for giving Matt as many quality years as possible, and the staffs of El Dorado Hospital/Rehab Unit and Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospital for their loving care and support.
