SPENCER, Helen McGinnis, born February 8, 1916 in Mena, Arkansas, in Tucson since 1941, passed away April 5, 1996. She was a bartender, and waitress. She worked at the Santa Rita Hotel Tap Room and Passion Pit, the El Conquistador Hotel, Saddle and Sirloin, Pago Pago, Paulo’s, Redwood Gay 90s, the El Con Club and the El Con Bar. She is survived by her daughter Laquita Turner Siqueiros of Tucson, and a son Everett Hoyt Turner of El Paso; stepdaughters, Lauren Spencer and Diane Miller of Overland Park, Kansas; her sister Olivia Sebesta of Richmond, Texas and a brother, Bill McGinnis of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Shawn Sigueiros Murray and Trent Siqueiros of Tucson, Lincoln Hoyt Turner of Phoenix, Layne Turner and Lacey Turner Leyva of Chandler, and Lance Turner of San Diego; also six great-grandchildren. Services will be Saturday, April 13 at 11:00 at St. Paul’s Methodist Church at 8051 E. Broadway.

HERNDON, Charles Henson, age 66, of Tucson, AZ, formerly of Northfield, IL, died April 11, 1996 in Tucson. He is survived by his wife, Priscilla; his four children: Meredith Whitten of MA, Charles Herndon, Jr., Susan Connelly and Jennifer Mackey; all of IL; and nine grandchildren. He was born in Springfield, IL and was a graduate of Iowa State University. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a staff Child Psychologist at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL for over 25 years before taking early retirement in Tucson. TURNER, Arthur Francis, 89, died April 3, 1996. Preceded in death by his wife, Margarete K. Turner. Survived by his children, Francis Rudolf Turner of Bloomington, IN and Gretel Susan Turner of Tucson. Dr. Turner graduated from MIT in 1929 and received at Ph.D. from the University of Berlin in 1935. He joined Bausch and Lomb in Rochester, NY in 1939 and remained with said company until 1971 at which time he came to the University of Arizona as a professor in the school of Optical Sciences. WOODMANSEE, John Preston “Woody’, 72, of Lakeside, AZ, passed away on April 11, 1996. Formerly of Tucson, John was a Navy veteran of World War II and a retired Network Manager for Mountain Bell. Survivors include his loving wife, Betty; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Gloria of Tempe and Tim and Gail of Grand Junction, Co; grandchildren, Monique, Billy, Casey and Jaime; one brother, Landon; four sisters, Pearl Bales, Helen Grabe, Mildred Williams and Hazel Peterson; two sisters, Jane Murphy and Ruby Hodges are deceased. John was a master wood worker and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports, especially baseball and softball. HALL, Dorothy Mae, 81, died April 13, 1996. The angels of the Lord came to take “Nanny’ to be with her husband Clarence E. Hall in paradise. She was born October 24, 1914 in PA and is survived by one brother, Melvin Javens of CA; and one sister, Lauretta Welles of PA; and by her three children, Clarence E. (Doris) Hall Jr. of San Antonio, TX, Viola “Dolly’ Bailey of Tucson and David L. (Jenny) Hall of Lisbon, OH; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren also survive. KLAR, June Engstad, 65 of Tucson, passed away on April 12, 1996. Born in Onalaska, WI on June 22, 1930 to Orris and Hulda Engstad. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Lawrence. June had a great love of life. She was very active in her church and community. Her caring ways touched many lives and she leaves behind a large circle of friends from all over the world. June was a member of Spanish Trail Lutheran Church, Norseman Federation and Vasa Club. She held many positions within the church including president of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Grand Canyon Synod and president of the Church Women United of Tucson. She is survived by her husband, Jack of Tucson; three daughters, Victoria of Lead, SD, Rebecca of Guilford, NY and Elizabeth of Beattie, KS; three granddaughters, Felecia, Rachel and Heather; and four brothers, Wayne, Gerry, Bill and John Engstad of WI. A memorial service will be held at Spanish Trail Lutheran Church, 8701 E.
