BRYAN, Edwin J., II, born September 5, 1925 in Elizabeth Township, PA, died June 8, 1996 following open heart surgery. Mr. Bryan had lived in Houston, TX for 18 years prior to moving to Tucson in 1992. He was an active member of the Sabino Canyon Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, a caring husband, a beloved grandfather, an alumnus of Mount Union College, and a Veteran of WWII. He is survived by his wife, Thelma T. Bryan of Tucson; his mother, Cora Bryan of Greenville, SC; sons, E.J. Bryan III (Cathie), and Joel G. Bryan (Christine), both of Tucson; and his, daughter, Mrs. Lynn Hewitt (Russell) of Perth, West Australia. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Cox of Whittier, CA; his brothers, Bill Bryan of Pittsburgh, PA, Tom Bryan of Greenville, SC, Bob Bryan of Petersburg, FL; and 11 grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at the Sabino Canyon Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 5643 E. Lee St., Tucson, Friday, June 14, 1996 at 7:30 p.m.

HANNLEY, Vincent Paul “Doc’ Col., U.S.A.F., ret., 80, of Tucson, died Monday, June 10, 1996. He is survived by his wife, Agnes; children, Dr. Maureen Hannley, Michael F. (Ruth) Hannley, Elizabeth (Greg Bogard) Hannley, Patricia (Ron) Sable, James P. (Sandy) Hannley, Heather K. (Mark) Minder, Gregory P. (Andrea) Hannley, Robert B. Hannley; seven grandchildren; and three sisters. During his Air Force career, Col. Hannley was stationed at Davis-Monthan from 1949 to 1955 and was Vice Base Commander from 1958 to 1961. He retired from the Air Force and moved back to Tucson in 1967. After retirement he was a representative for Equitable Life Ins. and went back to school and received a B.S. from the University of Arizona in 1975. Guy Ivan Hill beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, fosterparent, uncle and friend, passed away June 9, 1996. Guy Hill was born in Lowell, Arizona, May 11, 1931, the fifth child of six children born into a Arizona pioneer ranching family. He owned numerous ranches; served in law enforcement, and owned and operated a livestock trucking and rodeo contracting business, throughout his life. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Juanita Hill; his four sons; Kenneth (Annette), Larry (Kathy), Tommy (Debbie), and Bobby (Sherri), his two sisters Gracie Case and Margie Bell, 17 grandchildren and other family members too numerous to list. Although, Guy Hill has left this earth, his lighthearted humor will be in our hearts always, and many a young man will be telling stories about their adventures with Guy Hill for years to come. HUMPHREY, Mary Margaret, 70, died June 9, 1996, after a long and valiant battle against cancer. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 47 years, John Julius; two children, George and Laurie, both of Tucson; four grandchildren, Jocelyn, Tyan, Nicole and Trevor; son-in-law, Rick Strauss; and daughter-in-law, Kathleen. Prior to her retirement in 1990, Mrs. Humphrey served for 12 years as conference coordinator at the Arizona Cancer Center. At her retirement, Sydney Salmon, M.D., Center Director, said, “You’ve been a long-term and very loyal employee of the Arizona Cancer Center. In fact, You’ve seen it grow from being based in a tiny office in the Hospital through a temporary building and now to being a freestanding major facility. Our conferences are recognized as being outstanding and you’ve been at the center of that effort.’ Prior to joining the Cancer Center, Mrs. Humphrey served for five years as editorial assistant at the Journal of Chemical Education at the University of Arizona Department of Chemistry. Before that, she worked at the Arizona Regional Medical Program. Born in 1926 in Los Angeles, CA, Mrs. Humphrey graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1947. For 19 years she served as Vice President of the J.J. Humphrey Co., Inc., of Laramie, WY, Wyoming’s largest television and appliance dealership. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, as well as a trusted and loyal friends to many, Mrs. Humphrey will be remembered for her graciousness, keen wit and remarkable compassion. She will be dearly missed. Graveside services will be held 8:30 a.m. Friday, June 14, 1996 at East Lawn Cemetery. John Jannetto Born October 3, 1913, in Spring Hill, (Mobile) Alabama. Died June 8, 1996, in Tucson, AZ after a short illness. Preceded in death by parents, Cologero and Santuzza Giannetto; and eight brothers and sisters. Survived by wife of 55 years, Ruth Petta Jannetto; daughter, Susan of Tucson; and son, John C. (Eleni Sakellar) of Nelson, New Zealand. Also survived by five grandchildren, Stephen (Tina), Amy-Susan, Abram, Alexandra, John; one great grandchild, Stephen; and sister, Jenny Pipia of West Allis, WI. Moved to Tucson from Milwaukee, WI in 1951. After moving to Tucson, Mr. Jannetto became a real estate broker and developer, general contractor, and insurance executive. Mr. Jannetto developed residential subdivisions throughout Southern Arizona including the cities of Nogales, Benson, Kearny and Tucson. TROWBRIDGE, Peter, 70, of Tucson, died June 3, 1996. He is survived by his son, Peter Randall; and daughter, Candis Marie; and their mother, Linn. Born in Hoboken, NJ, Mr. Trowbridge lived in Noroton, CT, then came to Arizona in 1939. He resided on a ranch in Oracle, owned by his mother, Emily, called the Lazy ET. After attending Fresnal Ranch School and Southern Arizona School, Peter served in the US Navy in the Pacific during WWII. Mr. Trowbridge originated Tucson Radio and TV Sales and Service. He built and managed KEVT, Tucsons first Spanish language radio station and originated Greenway Lanes and Iceland Bowl. ANDERSON, Roger Bunton, 74 of Lakeside, AZ, passed away after a lengthy illness at home in Las Vegas, NV on May 19, 1996. He was a lifelong resident of Arizona, born in Tucson on January 26, 1917. He began his career in the newspaper service in Tucson at the Tucson Citizen in 1936. In 1943 he moved to Phoenix to work for the Phoenix Gazette where he was a stereotypist foreman in the platemaking department for 35 years. He retired in 1978 and moved to Lakeside, AZ in 1980. In spite of his having had polio as a child he was active in softball, golf and bowling and was manager of his high school football team. He graduated from Tucson High School in 1935 and attended the University of Arizona. He served on the board of directors for the Republic and Gazette Credit Union for many years. He was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling and working crossword puzzles. He was a Methodist and attended the United Methodist Church in Show Low, AZ. He leaves his wife, Katie Lynn of Lakeside, AZ and Las Vegas, NV; one brother, James E. Anderson of Lakewood, CA; two daughters, Janet Gail King of Glendale, AZ and Cheryl Rae Morean of Phoenix; one step-daughter, Peggy Hanna-Jones of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Desert Memorial of Las Vegas handled arrangements. A Memorial Service was held on Thursday, May 23rd at First Untied Methodist Church in Phoenix at 10:30 a.m. Memorials may be sent to the charity of your choice.
BRENT, William Wray, 85, died June 3, 1996. A funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 7th in Ross Hollywood Chapel. He was born March 15, 1911 in Bermingham, AL. He moved to Portland in 1995. He was a painting supervisor at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson. Retired in 1973 after 34 years of service. He is survived by wife, Pauline; daughter, Marsha Freyer of Portland; two sisters, Joe Brent and Eloise B. Buck of Seattle; and two grandchildren. Interment will be later in Arizona.
