ENSDORFF, John Lt. Col. USAF Ret., 76, died May 7, 1996. Survived by wife, EvelynS. Ensdorff. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy E. Ensdorff. Survived by children, Judith (Stephen) Stapleton, Richard (Denise) Ensdorff, Victoria (David) Milani, Debra (Ronald) Tornberg; grandchildren, Steven Butcher, Kimberly Fama, Kelly Milani, Nicholas Milani, Kelsey Tornberg, Justin Tornberg and Taylor Ensdorff; and one great grandchild on the way. Born March 8, 1920 in Denver, CO, attended Colorado School of Mines, University of Illinois BS and Texas Tech University MS in the Industrial and Civil Engineering. Served 30 years in the United States Air Force as a navigator and engineer, a WWII, Korea and Vietnam veteran. Served as director of environmental health for Pima County until his retirement in 1984. Memorial Service 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 11th at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway and Interment to follow at TMP East Lawn.

HUDAK, Sophie, 89, died May 8, 1996. Mother of Diane A. Callaghan of Tucson and Rudolph Hudak of NJ; seven grandchildren; and one great grandson also survive. Memorial Service 7:00 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 1996 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 7651 E. Pima with Fr. Richard Kingsley officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Community Hospice, 4330 N. KAYE, Eleanore V., 83 years old, died Wednesday, May 8, 1996. She was an area resident for 10 years. Survived by daughter, Cynthia E. Bass of Tucson; sons, Arthur and Michael of CA. The family suggest any contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.

LANGSTON, Elizabeth W., 77, died May 8, 1996. Graveside Services 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 11 in Eunice Cemetery, Eunice, NM. A Memorial Service will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday, May 12 at Christ Church Untied Methodist, 655 N. Craycroft with a reception to follow. McLEAN, Charles Ralph, 65, of Phoenix, died May 5, 1996. Survived by adopted sons, Arnold McLean and Sidney Dennis; sisters, Dorothy McGladrey and Pearl Horn. O'LEARY, Modesta Marie, 85, passed away May 8, 1996. Survived by daughter, Donna M. Richardson and her husband Edward; granddaughters, Shannon Terwedo and Shauna Wright; great grandchildren, Joshua Luckow and Jillian and Patrick Terwedo; and brother, Cletus Snyker. PARKHURST, Harriet V., 75, a frequent Tucson visitor, sister of Fred L. (Joan) Vance and the late Robert (Anne) Vance, both of Tucson, died May 7, 1996 in Peoria, IL. Survived by her husband of 50 years, John C. Parkhurst, Peoria attorney; six children and 11 grandchildren, all of Peoria area. Attended University of Arizona where she affiliated with Kappa Alpha Theta. Memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 13 at First Federated Church of Peoria. Memorials may be offered to the Susan G. SCHMIDT, Dorothea J., 76, died May 8, 1996. Survived by her daughter, Joan (Thomas) Suess of Tucson; sons, Ted Schmidt of CA and Philip Schmidt of Tucson; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild also survive. SCHUMACHER, Clarence William, 85, of Tucson, died May 9, 1996. Survivors include wife, Betty Milburn Schumacher; daughters, Tish Robinson (Dr. Peter), Pam Gradinger (Gary); step-daughter, Lisa Milburn Walton (Whip); grandchildren, Gretchen Kyle and Hanne Gradinger, Elizabeth and Emily Robinson and Elisabeth Walton. Mr. Schumacher was an avid golfer, he belonged to Tucson Country Club and Skyline Country Club. He was a founding member of Catalina Evans Seniors. A member of the Southern Arizona Seniors, Tucson Foothills Forum and the Garden of the Gods Club in Colorado Springs. He was a Paul Harris Fellow of Tucson Rotary Club, a member of the Tucson Economic Club, American Society of Heating and Cooling Engineers and American Society of Military Engineers. Before moving to Tucson in 1970, he lived in Kansas City, MO, where he was active in the March of Dimes, United Way and served as chairman of the board of trustees of the Villiage Presbyterian Church. Memorial Services will be at St. Philips in the Hills Episcopal Church 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 1996 with the Rev. Dr. Roger Douglas officiating. Donations may be made to Evans Scholarship Foundation, Golf, IL or the Tucson Rotary Scholarship Fund. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway).

SUTER, Frances E., of Tucson, passed away on May 5, 1996 at home. Preceded by her lifelong friend and devoted husband, Walter. Survived by brother, Charles (Gloria), sister, Betty (Thurston); children, Gary of Lincoln, NE, Dale (Sandy), Craig (Diane), and 10 grandchildren. Frances served as a W.A.C. during WWII, where she met Walter while stationed at Davis-Monthan A.F.B. Together, they traveled with the military around the U.S. and Japan, finally settling in Tucson in 1959. Frances was extremely active in many church and community organizations including the American Cancer Society, Neighborhood Watch, and as a volunteer nurse for the public school district. She also devoted time as the family historian. A memorial service is scheduled for 4 p.m., May 19, 1996 in the Chapel at Christ Church United Methodist. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to the charity of your choice.

TURNER, Charlotte Wilda, age 79, passed away May 8, 1996 in Tucson. Born May 27, 1917 in Geneva, NY. Survived by her brother, Leonard (Eleanor) Brown; step-sons, Alfred (Barbara) and Jack Jr. (JoAnne) Turner; step-daughter, Jane (Art) Chapman; seven nieces; two nephews; many great-nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Jack R. Turner. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 11, 1996 from 8:00 to 9:15 a.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave. Graveside Service will follow at 9:30 a.m. at South Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gospel Rescue Mission, 312 W. 28th St. or Hospice Family Care, 3443 E. Ft. Lowell.

WATSON, Loraine Grace, 76 years old, died Wednesday, May 8, 1996 in Tucson. Survived by husband, Charles C. Watson of Tucson; two daughters, Charlotte Carroll and Maxine Newman, both of Tucson; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Services for Mrs. Watson will be held Friday, May 10, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway. Friends of Mrs. Watson may call from 10:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Mortuary.

BORTLE, Donald E., Lt. Col. USAF, Ret., 69, died May 6, 1996. Survived by his wife, Martha Louise Bortle; children, Don (Doreen) Bortle, Jr., John Bortle, Carol (Dennis) Steiner, Mike Bortle and Martin (Mickie) Bortle; brother, Walt (Norma) Bortle; grandchildren, Samantha, Jacob, Andrew, Alexis and Alexzandria. Mr. Bortle attended Oneida High School and St. Lawrence University and Cornell University, all in New York. He was fighter pilot for 31 years, a WWII veteran, two tours of duty in Korea and Vietnam. He flew F80's, F84's, F86's, F100's, F5's and F4's. He was a member of the DAV and Elks, Retired Affairs Office at DMAFB, VITA, TCE and Rolling Hills Golf Course. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Assoc., 5325 E. Pima, Tucson, 85775. Funeral Service 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 10 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL and Graveside Service 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 10 at Ft. CARTER, Weldon Roy, 59, died May 6, 1996. Husband of Patricia; father of Marnita and Joseph Carter; brother of Carrie Jameson, Ruby Moore, Virgil Lynn Knox, Mittie Carter, Sylvia Mireles, Don Carter and William Richard Carter, Jr.; grandfather of Teakshia Marie Carter, Anthony Martin, and Reanna Jade Carter. He was a member of Desert Trail Golf Club. Memorial Service 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 10, 1996 at DMAFB Chapel 1 with Chaplin Gerald Beilstein officiating. COLLINS, John Peyton, Retired Superior Court Judge went home to be with his Lord and Savior May 5, 1996. He was born August 15, 1927 in Eastland, TX and raised in Marana, AZ where he played basketball for the Marana High School Tigers. He was student body president and valedictorian of his class. He served in the Navy. He graduated from the U of A College of Law where he was student body president and received his L.L.B. in 1956. He practiced law privately until his appointment to the bench as Judge of Superior Court January 4, 1965. In his later years, he retired in southern California and in 1990 helped son, Jim open his California law practice. Preceded in death by his parents, James Elmer and Rose Collins and brother, Bill. He will be dearly missed by his former wife, Rose Cracchiolo Collins of 28 years and mother of his three children: Marianne Collins-Powell, James Peyton Collins and Andrea 'Andy' Joseph Collins. His six young grandchildren: John Peyton Collins, II, Dana James and Michael Joseph Collins (Littlerock, CA), Peyton Christine and Jake Henry Collins (LaCanada-Flintridge, CA) and Donald John Powell (Tucson, AZ), were his inspiration and pride and joy. He leaves behind his seven brothers and sisters, James 'Buddy' Collins (Phoenix, AZ), Jack Collins (Tucson), Zelma Campbell (Farmington, NM), Inez Cleveland (Tucson), Ruth Quarelli (Tucson), Gaynell Robinson (Tucson) and Patty Swanson (Tucson). Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins will sincerely miss him as well. He was highly respected among his peers, colleagues, the citizens of his community, and wherever he went. He was a genuine classic humanitarian and truly a legacy, whom everyone loved and admired. He loved kids-they were his life. He thoroughly enjoyed his hobbies of genetics, raising many species of birds and had fun gardening. In his spare time he wrote poetry and published his all-time favorite 'Twenty Poems of the Beach and Sea, ' by Jon Peyton. He also was a volunteer little league baseball coach for his sons' team. His family appreciated the care he received at Good Samaritan Hospital (Los Angeles, CA). A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in his honor at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 1946 E. Lee, Tucson, (where he and Rose were married) on Saturday, May 11 at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Casa De Los Ninos Crisis Center, 347 E. Speedway, Tucson, in memory of Judge John Peyton Collins.

DE GRAZIA, Frenck Samuel, 79, of Florence, AZ, died Sunday, May 5, 1996 in Phoenix, AZ. Survived by sisters, Giselda Canaday of San Pedro, CA and Virginia Lien of Long Beach, CA; eight nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife for over 40 years, Angiolina. He was a high school teacher in Florence for many years, taught music at Arizona State Prison in Florence. Well known member of the Florence Community and the brother of the late artist Ted De Grazia. Visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. and services May 10th at 9:00 a.m. at The Assumption Catholic Church, 306 E. 8th St., Florence, AZ with Rev. Bryan Sherry. EDSON, Edith E., 85, of Tucson, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 1996. Survivors include loving daughter, Lorraine Hilbert; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brother, Robert. Mrs. Edson was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur in 1980 and her son, Arthur Jr. in 1986. Eight siblings also preceded her in death. Memorial Services will be at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 1996 with Rev. Bob Kien officiating.
