KOEHLER, ClaraBelle Braden, age 79, passed peacefully over on Saturday, April 20, 1996, after suffering a stroke on Thursday. Born March 27, 1917, in Spokane, WA, to Alfred and Helen Braden. Preceded in death by sister, Leah; and brothers, Richard and Gordon. Dearly loved by those remaining: her husband of 57 years, Mark L. Koehler, and daughter, Michal McKenzie, both of Tucson; her grandson, Thomas McKenzie of NJ; sister, Evelyn Woodruff of Spokane; brother, George Braden of Coeur d'Alene, ID; brother- and sister-in-law, Fred and Margaret Koehler of Hilo, HI; many nieces and nephews and their families; daughters of her heart, Patricia Youngdahl, Sue Ward, and Caren Smith; many loving friends, including her neighbors at the Country Club of LaCholla. ClaraBelle grew up in Coeur d'Alene and became a beautician after high school. She attended Whitworth College in Spokane where she met Mark. They spent their life together in the Presbyterian ministry, in Washington, Nevada, and Arizona, moving to Tucson in 1992 after 14 years in the Phoenix area. SPENCER, Stephen L., died in Tucson, AZ, April 20, 1996. Stephen was born in Upland, CA and grew up in Cochise, AZ, graduating from Willcox High School in 1940. He enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1942 and served as a sergeant in the Army Claims Department in Saltzburg, Austria until 1946, continuing there as a G.S. Civilian until 1949 in the Judge Advocates Office. After returning to Arizona in 1949 he earned his B.A. in German Languages from the University of Arizona, and later earned his PH D in German Languages from Hamilton State University. A lifelong passion for learning led him to continue his studies at such diverse places as Middlebury, Stanford and the University of Vienna. At the time of his death he was working on a second doctorate in jurist law. Stephen taught German at the University of Minnesota, Duluth and at Stanford University. His prime interests beyond his family, language and law were politics and economics. A man of wide-ranging activities, he practiced real-estate throughout his life, founded Fiberglass Labricators Inc., served on the boards of North Star Community Dev. Corp. and Pine Manor College, and as President of the Foothills II Homeowners Assoc. in Tucson. He was a member of the Republican National Committee, Presidential Task Force, Kiwanis Club, U.S. Power Squadrons and the Skyline Country Club (Tucson). He was a businessman and teacher. Survivors include: his wife of 47 years, Clara Congdon Spencer of Duluth, their children Charles and Susan Spencer, Guilford Spencer, Lisa Spencer and John Pekkala of Duluth, Helen Spencer and Larry Hatfield of Anchorage and grandchildren Jeffrey Smoger, Jessie Smoger and Clara Spencer of Duluth. Memorial Service at St. Phillips in the Hills Episcopal Church, Thursday, April 25 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Roger O. Douglas. Inurment will be in Duluth, MN. TIDMORE, Armon J., was born in Marshall County, Alabama on February 20, 1915. He passed away on April 21, 1996 in Tucson, AZ. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Doris; two sons, Phillip G. Tidmore of Arlington, VA, and Steve M. Tidmore (Denise); two grandchildren, Troy and Dana of Scottsdale, AZ; one brother, Haden Tidmore; sisters, Eunice Hudgins, Corene Hill, Lorene Tidmore, Vidamae Clotfelter, and Ruby Dean Clark; many nieces and nephews. Mr. Tidmore served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Jacksonville State University and a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Alabama. He taught school in Alabama, Tennessee, and in Tucson, AZ as a special education teacher. He had been a Tucson resident since 1958. Since his retirement he was active in retired teachers and the Catalina United Methodist Homebuilders Sunday School Class. JOHNSON, Garland O., Sr., 75, passed away on April 20, 1996 in Tucson. Mr. Johnson was born on September 23, 1920 in Hopewell, VA the son and Ed and Laura Johnson. He served in the US Army Air Corps in WWII and was a member of the 454 Bombardment Group. Mr. Johnson and his family moved to Tucson in 1963 from Richmond, VA. He later became co-owner of Allied Office Supply until his retirement in 1986. Christine J. McNabb 81, of Tucson, passed away April 17, 1996. Born June 29, 1914 in Irvine, KY. Christine grew up and married in southwestern Ohio, and moved to Tucson in 1951, where she raised her family. After returning to Ohio in 1965, she worked at the Middletown Public Library, serving as head of the audio-visual department. She retired to Tucson in 1979, remaining an active member of Broadway Christian Church until her death. Christine was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie (Michael E.) Harris of Tucson; son, William R. (Elaine) McNabb of Franklin, OH; five grandchildren, Shelley (Brent) Jaramillo of Scottsdale, AZ, James Harris of Tucson, Robert, Susan and Matthew McNabb, all of Franklin, OH; three brothers, William and Harold Ledford of Middletown, OH and Cale Ledford of Franklin, OH; as well as many nieces, nephews and loving friends. She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Edna Dingman in 1994, and Frances Stamper in 1993, and two brothers, Robert Ledford in 1978 and Cecil Ledford in 1942.
