PEAK, Sally A., 72, of Tucson, died July 20, 1996. Survivors include: nieces, Carolyn Peak Extein, Laurie Peak Russo, Gary S. Peak and their seven children. Sally was born March 11, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from the University of New Mexico and received a masters degree from U.C. Berkeley in social work. Sally practiced social work in both the Bay area and Shasta County. She was one of the early practitioners of group therapy. She was a resident of Tucson for seven years and Prescott for six years. Sally was a long time supporter of social and environmental causes. She was the first president of the Southern Arizona Paddler’s Club and belonged to the Sierra Club Toastmasters and several other organizations. Sally died suddenly while volunteering on a trip with the Sierra Club Inner City Outings program. Sierra Club’s National Inner City Outings program is establishing a scholarship in Sally’s name. The Memorial Service will be held at the Tucson Botanical Gardens, August 10, 1996 at 9:30 a.m., 2150 N. Alvernon Way. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway).

TONA, Isabel G., 70, of Tucson, passed away August 4, 1996. Preceded in death by her mother Francisca G. Ruiz; and her two brothers, Juan and Manuel Gutierrez. Survived by husband, Alejandro C. Tona; daughters, Gloria A. (Eddie) Alderette, Yolanda T. (Juan) Alcantar, Maria Cecilia T. (Carlos) Valles, Alejandra G. (David) Tona, Margarita Tona, Ygnacia T. (George) Gomez, Sylvia G. Tona; sons, Alejandro Jr., Louis G. (Brenda) and Pedro F. Tona; sisters, Dora Gutierrez Spiller, Trinidad G. Felix; brothers Sisto and Gilbert Gutierrez, Ramon Borquez; 26 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many more friends and family. MORENO, Elena G., 80, lifetime resident of Tucson, died August 4, 1996. Preceded in death by husband, Frank F. and son, Frank G. Moreno. Survived by daughter, Maria Elena Benitez; son, Rosalino Moreno; sisters, Trinidad Moreno and Josephine Anaya, all of Tucson; 11 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. OBERMAN, Victor Edward, 78, of Tucson, born April 26, 1918 in Grand Haven Township, MI, died Monday, August 5, 1996. Mr. Oberman was a carpenter. ROBERTS, Blanche M., 84, of Tucson, died August 3, 1996. She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Gallagher; and son, Ronald Roberts, both of Tucson; sisters, Rosalie Simmons (Luther), Allene James, Mary Morgan (John), Betty Carpenter (Cleston), Donna Copley (Jim) Marie Daniels (Jim); brothers, John Pope (Millie), Russell Pope (Helen); also surviving are grandchildren, Daniel Gallagher, Steven Gallagher, Ronald Gallagher, Kathleen Gallagher, Linda Porter, Patricia Ponce, Calvin Moore, and Justine Stanton; as well as 15 great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren. Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her husband, Fletcher; and daughter, Juanita Moore. Memorial Services will be held at First Church of God, 3355 N. SARGENT, Helga R., passed away at home in Kirkland, WA on July 27, 1996 at the age of 53 after a long, courageous struggle with cancer. She is greatly missed by her husband, Murray; and her two daughters, Nicole and Tina. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend to many people. She combined great determination with an amazing sense of what to do, whether it be cooking an incredible meal, furnishing a home, bringing up her daughters or running the family business. A Memorial Service will be held at 5530 N. Camino Escuela at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, August 24, 1996. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to the Marsha Rivkin Ovarian Cancer Research and Treatment Center in honor of Helga Sargent (address: Swedish Medical Center Foundation, P.O. SINCLAIR, Gary Stephen, 36, of Tucson, died August 4, 1996. Survived by Joyce Sinclair; son, Scott Ryan Sinclair; daughter, Rachel Jeanine Sinclair; mother, Bonnie Jean Fain; father, Gary Wayne Sinclair; brothers, Robert Morris O’Guin III, John Patrick O’Guin; sister, Cassie Michele Valenicia; step-father, Robert Morris O’Guin II. BROWN, Mary A. ‘Skippy’, 64, a long time resident of Tucson, AZ, died on August 3, 1996 at University Medical Center. Mrs. Brown grew up in the Marana//Tucson area. Raised a family and worked for many years at the Public Defenders Office as a legal secretary until her retirement in 1994. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrel G. Brown and is survived by many. Survivors include her mother, Lillian Doyle of Tucson; her three sisters, Patricia Wayne of Tucson, Terry Cotee of Tucson, and Judy McKeever of Boyd, TX. She is also survived by her five children, Francis Brown an family (wife, Catherine, daughters, Sarah, Charlotte and Emily) of Milan, Italy, Blaze Brown and family (wife, Maryann, sons, Jake, Adam and Shane) of Anaheim, CA, Shawn Brown of Phoenix, AZ, Mary Brown of Tucson an Basil Brown with (wife Eiko) of Yuma, AZ. Mrs. Brown is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (Center Chapel), 240 S. HAMILTON, Margareta L. ‘Tommy’ (nee Thompson), 85, of Tucson, died July 30, 1996. Margareta and her late husband, John F. Hamilton lived in Poughkeepsie, NY and moved to Green Valley, AZ in 1971, and in 1979 to Tucson. She is survived by a brother, Thomas Thompson; and three nieces, Joan Ball, Carol Krebs and Ellen Lorensen. Memorial Service will be held in October at Fountain of Life Lutheran Church. HAWLEY, Belmont Jay, of Tucson, formerly of Lockport, NY. Beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away August 2, 1996 at age 74. He is loved and remembered by family, his wife of 54 years, Anna Belle; sister, Lucille Crafts of Gasport, NY; brother, Roger of Middleport, NY; four children, Marian (Larry) Bool of Tucson, Dan (Mary) Andrer of CA, Steve (Chris) Hawley of Tucson; 13 grandchildren, Mark, Jeff, Larry Lori, Kristi Bool (Dnead), Trevor, Skip, Ali Bool, Betsey, Meg, Lucke Hawley, Annette, Bobby, Andre; step granddaughter, Kellie Lindback and five great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, Kenneth, Hazel and son, Monty. LIAKOS, James T., 63, passed away August 2, 1996. Survived by wife, Margaret; daughter Kathleen Nevell; sons, Lawrence, Jim (Susan), Thomas (Roberta) Liakos and Wayne McFarland; sister, Marjorie Strand, Tinka Deas; and six grandchildren. Jim was born in Washington D.C. He received his bachelors degree in engineering from Clemson University. He served in the US Air Force, attaining the rank of captain. Jim is loved by all who knew him, and will be dearly missed. ‘Bye Boom Boom’. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 1996 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Lyons, M.D. of Philadelphia, PA, Sheila (Francis) Rollins of Tucson, Davina (Bill) Spencer of Bountiful, UT, Cynthia (Chris) Rummel of Satellite Beach, FL. Also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Kay had a lengthy career as a social worker in the states New York, Arizona and California. MAJUTA, Dalia Colores, 61, a long time resident of Tucson entered the gates of heaven to be with our Lord on August 4, 1996. She is survived by her husband, Jesus Majuta; and her children, Diane Carrillo, Denise (Randy) Buffalo, Cindy (Brian) Wright, Ben Carrillo (Sandy), Rodney (Esther) Carrillo, Walter Majata, Patti Carrillo, Arnold Majuta, Rocky Majuta, Chris (Robin) Majuta; brothers, Michael, Charles, Robert and Thomas Carrillo; grandchildren, Bianca, Alex, Devin, Ryan, Dylan, Ana Lisa, Nico, Loriana. Dalia was an active member and current President of the Marine Corp Womens Auxiliary League. STOWELL, Dorothy Amelia Duncan, 91, a resident of Arizona for 55 years, passed away August 3, 1996 in Tucson. Born January 13, 1905 in Woodward, IA. A longtime member of St. Marks Presbyterian Church in Tucson and A Daughter of the American Revolution. Survived by daughter-in-law, Emily Stowell; wife of Bill Stowell, deceased; grandson, David Stowell; granddaughters, Christine Snider and Gloria Hastie; grandson, Jonathon Stowell; daughter, Ruth Gene Bruner; grandson, Richard Bruner; granddaughter, Ann Bruner Welsh; 11 great-grandchildren.
