Nevida Milton went home to be with her Lord on November 6, 2001. She was presently living in Phoenix, AZ. Nevida was born July 10, 1914 and had resided in Yuma from 1952 until 1995. She was employed by Braden Machinery for approximately 20 years. Nevida also was a secretary for Farm Bureau Insurance until her retirement.
Nevida’s husband of 57 years, R. E. “Pete” Milton preceded Nevida in March of 1999. They leave three sons, Phil (Shelly) of Palmer, Alaska and Jim and Gary (Nancy) of Flagstaff, AZ, along with six grandchildren and one great grandson.
Any memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014-5656. The family will be hosting a memorialcelebration on Saturday, November 10, 2001 at 2:00 PM at 4209 W. Orchid Lane in Phoenix, in honor of their parent’s memory.
Hobart E. Lewis
Hobe Lewis, 84, passed away on November 2, 2001 at Yuma Regional Medical Center. He was born on May 20, 1917 in Grant County, Indiana. He received his BAdegree in Education at Tarkio College, Tarkio, MO and did graduate work at Ball State University in Munice, Indiana. He was a teacher and a coach in Missouri and Michigan and worked in broadcasting, radio and television in Yuma. He was a charter member of the Caballeros de Yuma, Inc. and a long time member of the SPEBSQSA and the Masonic Lodge. He served in the Rainbow division field artillery in the European Theater of Operations during WW II. He served in the U.S. Army and received a Bronze Star Medal.
Survivors include his wife, Annette Carter Lewis, of Yuma; daughters, Melinda Lewis Farnsworth, Jane L. (Chuck) Johnson and Daena K. Walker, all of Yuma; brother, George E. Lewis, of Yuma; grandchildren, Cary (Shelly) Farnsworth, Cindy (Adam Moore) Farnsworth, Scott (Alvina) Johnson, Sam (Bambi) Johnson, Matt Walker, Chris (Jenny) Walker and Nolan Walker; great grandchildren, Anvil Moore, Tatyana Johnson, Colton Walker and Brody Walker and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Hobe is preceded in death by his parents, Scott and OpalLewis, sister, Neota Millspaugh and grandson, Curtis S. Farnworth.
Kammann Mortuary is handling cremation. Funeral services will be held at Sierra Vista Presbyterian Church on Saturday, November 10, 2001 at 10:00 AM. Rev. Bill Watkins and Bill Esmeier will officiate. Family and friends will gather for a reception immediately following the service at the Johnson home, 7762 Pritchard Ave., Yuma.

M. June Osborne
M. June Osborne, 95, passed away on Wednesday November 7, 2001 in Salem, OR. She was born June 2, 1906 in Grants Pass, OR.
June grew up in Prizeville, OR. She lived in Geryais from 1962-1972. June wintered in Yuma, AZ and summered in Salem, OR for the past 30 years. She followed the fruit and was a fruit picker for over 50 years. June loved picking cherries, grapes and olives. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading.
June was preceded in death by her husband John “Jack” Osborne. She is survived by her daughter Helen Ward of Salem, OR; sons Burt Hoover of Bremerton, WA, Robert Disney of Woodland, CA and Allen Hoover of Spokane, WA, along with 11 Grandchildren, 12 Great- Grandchildren and 3 Great-great-grandchildren.
Nellie Melissa Snider Wright
Nellie Melissa Snider Wright of Yuma, Arizonadied on November 5, 2001 at Life Care Center. She was born on November 14, 1915 and raised in Aurora, Missouri.
In 1936 she left Missouri for employment opportunities in Pasadena, California. While in California she met and married Eugene M. Wright and gave birth to her three children. Eugene and Nellie became one of the pioneering families of the small town of Desert Hot Springs, California.
In early 1951 they moved their family and settled in Yuma, Arizona. Nellie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, providing a strong Christian influence for her family. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.
Husband Eugene and brothers Arthur and Freal preceded her in death.
She is survived by her brother Joseph, her three children E. Morgan Wright, Jr., (Beverly), B. Elyse Reed, Robert B. Wright (Jayne) and her six grandchildren.
Pastor Paul Killingsworth of First Assembly of God Church will officiate at a graveside service at Desert Lawn Memorial Park on Saturday, November 10, 2001 at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to First Assembly of God Church or a favorite charity.
Roger T. Ogden

Devoted son, loving husband, proud parent, dedicated friend, died in his home in Yuma, Arizona on November 6, 2001.
He is survived by his family: Dorothy Ogden (wife), Sheriff Ralph E. Ogden, Patty Ogden, Margaret Cummings, Dr. Stephen D. Cummings, Peggy Hampton (all of Yuma), Lynn O’Brien, Paul Michael O’Brien (Attleboro, MA), Brett O’Brien, Jessica O’Brien (New York City, NY), Darcy O’Brien (Boston, MA), Beatrice Reed (Durango, CO) as well as other nephews, nieces and friends across the country.
Roger spent his life making music, furniture, paper and laughter.
The stepping stones he built are strong enough to support us all.
They are made of love, faith, honesty, integrity, truth, dignity, hope, self-worth, devotion, humility and dedication.

Robert Leon "Pete" King
Robert Leon (Pete) King passed away on November 10th, 2001. He was born July 14th 1923 in Lakeview, TX. He retired from the Bureau of Reclamation in 1984.
One of 7 siblings, Robert is preceded in death by all but one, a 90 year old sister, Audra Leflar of Mesa, AZ. He is survived by his wife Betty King, daughterand son-in-law Katherine and Robert Mc Daniel of Yuma, AZ and sonand daughter-in-law Clif and Teresa King of Slaton, TX. He has 2 Grandchildren, TJ Ann King and Robert Allen King of Slaton, TX.
Services will be held at Kammann Mortuary on Thursday, November 15th at 11am. Paul Bearers will be Danny Green, Chuck Green, Bill Koretz, A.J. Underwood, and Francisco (Poncho) Valencia.
Elizabeth Zilpah Johnston
Elizabeth Zilpah Johnston, 83, passed away on November 3, 2001. She was born May 2nd, 1918 in Carter, Oklahoma. She came to Yuma at age five. She graduated from Yuma High in 1936 and attended the University of Arizona. She served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. She was stationed in San Diego at the Naval Hospital and later in the Officers Separation Club in Los Angeles and later Long Beach, CA. Elizabeth worked at Sears in Yuma before opening the Treasure Shop with her late brother, Vade Long. She later worked many years and retired from the Yuma County Water Users Association. She was a member of the Yuma Little Theater, Assistance League, Historical Society, Woman’s Society, and the Trinity United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Johnston. Two daughters Marcia Pease of Scottsdale, Az., Brenda Johnston of Monterey, Ca.; three grandchildren and one great grandson survive her. Elizabeth had numerous friends and loved life. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service held Friday, November 16, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 3030 South 8th Ave. in Yuma. The family suggests that any memorial contributions be made to the Yuma Assistance League or the Trinity United Methodist Church.
Jack Jones
Jack Jones, 67, of Wellton, passed away on November 12, 2001. He is survived by his children: Donna Moleman, Beverly Jones, Benjamin Jones and Rosetta Hammond. Mother: Ruby Jones, brothers: Mack Jones, Elmer Jones, Ira Jones, Clifford Jones, Ralph Jones and Eddie Jones. Sisters: Bernice Jones, Vernie Jones Jenkins and Lucricia Jones and Barbara Fletcher. Nine grandchildrenand two great grandchildren also survive.
Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2001 at Sunset Vista Funeral Home, 11357 E. 40th St.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 16, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Vista Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Vista Cemetery. Mr. Jones was a loving son, father, grandfather and brother.

Anita Baker Kutz
Anita Baker Kutz went to be with the Lord on October 27, 2001. She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on June 3, 1912.
After receiving her degree in Public Health Nursing in 1934 at the University of Minnesota, she lived and worked in California and Washington until 1943 when she enlisted in the Army Nurse Corps. She served in the European Theater until 1946, then returned to Veradale, Washington.
Just before she retired in 1973, she married Robert D. Kutz, a pastor in Spokane, Washington. After serving several years as missionaries in Guatemala, they settled in Yuma, Arizona and joined Mt. Zion Church, where she worked as a teachers assistant in the elementary grades for several years.
Survivors include her two sons, Stig Swanson, Jr. of Covington, Washington and Norman Swanson of Peking, China and New York City; her husband, Robert D. Kutz; 4 Grandchildren and 7 Great-Grandchildren.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, November 17, 2001 at 10am at Mt. Zion Church, 2445 E. 24th St. in Yuma, Arizona. The family has suggested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mt. Zion Church.
Eugene E. Frey
Eugene E. Frey, 72, passed away November 13, 2001 in Yuma, AZ. He was born November 8, 1929 in Watsonville, CA. Mr. Frey worked for Yuma Proving Grounds as an Ammunition Handler. He attened Yuma High School. Mr. Frey was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1948 - 1952.
Survivors include; his wife Sue Frey, daughter, Amy Chapman, son, Charles Frey and sister, Barbara McGalliard all of Yuma, and brother Melvin Frey of Granada Hills, CA. 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at The Calvary Baptist Church, November 16, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Frank McCutcheon and Pastor Ben Davis officiating. Final resting place will be Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers include Mike Marquette, Alan Raney, Mark Hessinger, Tom Peterson, Bobby Reyes, Brian Carpenter, Doug Melanson, Tom Kosmata. Honorary Bearers include Ian Forrest, Bill Dorries, Revis Williamson, Bill Klumker, and Oris Morgan.

Thai Jared Townsend Jr., 5 months, passed away November 13, 2001 in Yuma, Arizona. He was born June 5, 2001 in Yuma,Arizona.
Survivors include; parents Thai J. Townsend Sr. and Irena Townsend, grandmother Peggy Jefferson, grandfathers Videl Townsend all of Ft. Yuma,Luis Alvarado of Salinas, CA. grandmother, Kathy Alvarado, great-grandparents Floyd Waters and Mary Waters, great-grandparents, John Townsend and Gumercindo and Angie Acosta, aunts, Shelyne Twist, Samantha Jefferson, Chiloe Townsend, Sataya Alvarado and uncle, Tomas Jefferson, and grandmother, Kim Alvarado and numerous cousins and relatives. Thai was preceded in death by his great-grandmothers Virginia Hills and Irene Barley and great-grandfather Gabriel Roosevelt.
Visitation will be held at Kammann Mortuary November 16, 2001 from 3:30p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at FT. Yuma Big House November 16, 2001 at 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.

Darlene Sharkey King
Darlene Sharkey King, 46, passed away on November 11, 2001. She was born on July 23, 1955 in Ft. Yuma Indian Hospital.
Darlene attended San Pasqual Unified School from grades K-12. She graduated in 1974 in Winterhaven, CA. She also attended American Indian Bible College in Phoenix, AZ and graduated in 1977. Darlene worked from 1992-1997 as an instructional aide at Mesa Public School in Mesa, AZ. Then from 1997-2001 she worked as a high school counselor for the Cocopah Education Department in Somerton, AZ. She then worked as an outreach worker for breast cancer awareness prevention program at Ft. Yuma Field Health from 2001-Present. She also worked with Handicap Children in Mesa, AZ. They dearly loved her and she loved them, who today still ask about her.
Darlene was a loving and caring Mother, who loved her family. She also was involved in her tradition, she danced with a group called Inter-Tribal Dancing Group. She attended a Pow Wow in September 2001 in Scayaun and came in at 2nd Place for the Bird Dance Contest. She was also an active member of the Ft. Yuma Methodist Church. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends who knew her.
Darlene is survived by her husband Rickardo D. King; son, Phillip G. King III; daughters, Alana D. King and Lena A. King, all of Yuma, AZ; step-son, Patrick D. King; step-daughter, Lorie King, both Mesa, AZ; brothers, Larry Sharkey, of East Cocopah and George Taylor, of Parker, AZ; sisters, Pauline Allen, of West Cocopah, Sharon Barley, of Yuma, AZ, Frances Barley Evanston, of Boulevard, CA, Georgina Portillo, of West Cocopah, Priscilla Brown, of West Cocopah, Willadena Thomas and Esther Huck, both East Cocopah, Somerton, AZ. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Darlene is preceded in death by her father, William Sharkey; mother, Florence Barley Sharkey; and Grandfather, Jim Barley.
Funeral Services will be held at Ft. Yuma United Methodist Indian Church in Winterhaven, CA on Saturday, November 17, 2001 at 10am - Noon. Rev. Avis Black, of Ft. Yuma United Methodist Church and Rev. Elaine Crawford, of Calvary Assembly will officiate services. Tribal Rites will follow at the West Cry-House. Cremation at Sunrise, Sunday November 18, 2001. Darlene’s final resting place will be West Cocopah in Somerton, AZ.
Pallbearers will be David Huck, David Sanchez, Mandel Sanchez, Chris Brown, Chris Galvan, Bradley Massey, Richard Galvan, Donald Long, Mason Sundust, Corinthian Barley and Remeguis San Diego.
