de PERAZA, Mary Alice Stewart, passed away at home on July 8, 1996 in Maturin, Monagas, Venezuela after a prolonged illness. She moved from Venezuela to Tucson with her parents, Starling Whitfield and Elisa Antonia at age five, and subsequently graduated from SS Peter & Paul School and Salpointe High School. She then returned to the land of her birth. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, George R. and Ray A. Mary is survived by her husband of 38 years, Dr. Gustavo Peraza; five children, Maria Elisa, Ricardo Roberto, Monica Maria, Maria Gabriela and Marycita; and five grandchildren, all of Maturin; and by her brother, Robert Stewart of Benson, AZ. She was laid to rest on July 9, 1996 in Maturin. Mary dedicated her life to her family, and she and Gustavo gave them the ability to live life with love.

Preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Braunstein Lipscomb and parents Neal Hogue Lipscomb and Rosalie Metheny Lipscomb. He was a graduate of Texas Christian University. He retired as a Colonel of the USAF in 1970, after 30 years of service. While serving at Davis Monthan AFB, he was commander of the 360th Bomb Squadron, 570th Strategic Missile Squadron and 308 MIMS. SAUNDERS, Joanne H., 60, of Chicago, IL, died July 8, 1996 in Tucson, AZ. Survived by husband, Julian R. Mrs. Saunders has been a Director of the Illinois Bar Foundation and the immediate Past President, she is a member of the Illinois and District of Columbia Bar, and has been a Member of the Illinois Bar Assembly and numerous committees of the Illinois Bar Association. She has served on various committees of the Chicago Bar Association and was a longtime board member of Temple Shalom in Chicago. Preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Thelma Lafferty Cullumber; his brother, George Cullumber; and great-grandson, Dallas Alexander. Survived by his present wife, Estelle Wirth Cullumber, whom he married in February, 1991; stepmother, Mabel Fisher of Gilbert, AZ; son, Jim (Adonna) Cullumber of Chandler, AZ; daughter, Sue (Denzel) Clouse of Tucson; grandsons, Jeff (Tammy) Cullumber and Rodney (Christina Cullumber; and granddaughter, Kim (Kevin) Alexander of Chandler; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Gavin, Grant and Tanner Cullumber, Christopher, Athen and Tayler Alexander and Christiana Cullumber, all of Chandler; also brothers, Therold (Bonna) Cullumber of Belen, NM, Robert (Linda) Cullumber of Phoenix; sisters, Norma (Grant) Naegle and Jean (Neales) Kennedy of Phoenix. James Cullumber had been in Arizona since the age of three growing up in the Gilbert area. Graduated from ASU and did graduate work at Pasadena/Point Loma College in CA. The rest of his adult life was spent pastoring churches throughout the state of Arizona. A major emphasis was his work with youth. STRASBURG, Virginia Harrison Falvey, died on July 2, 1996 in Walnut Creek, CA. Born September 9, 1907 in Tucson, she was the widow of Arthur T. Strasburg and the mother of Thomas T. (Susie), Paul A. and Virginia Liljefelt (Jim). She is also survived by daughter-in-law, Kate Strasburg; and six grandchildren, Kristyn (Craig) Moore and Kendra Strasburg, Gregand Laura Strasburg, and Alan and Erik Liljefelt. She came from an Arizona pioneer family and graduated from Tucson High School in 1926. She was president of her class in 1924, 1925, and 1926. Until recently she was a lifelong Tucson resident. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 13 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 400 E. Mrs. Johnson and her husband Harold where co-founders of the Order of the Eastern Star, Saguro Chapter #48 in Tucson in 1957.
