MARCUS, Sadye Capin, 95, of Tucson, died June 25, 1996. Survivors include: her son, Samuel (Patricia) Marcus of Tucson; daughter, Renee B. Marcus of Green Valley; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; brother, Zellie Capin of Tucson; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 76 years, Robert and her daughter Ione Marcus Gordon. Sadye was born in Harrisburg, PA and came west with her parents Dora and Hyman Capin. The family settled in Nogales, AZ in the early 1920's. Along with her husband, they remained in Nogales, raising their family and actively participating in business and social affairs of the community, after which they retired to Tucson approximately 10 years ago. Sadye will be remembered for her loving concern for others and her continual generosity to family, friends, and community. Funeral Services will be at CARROONS MORTUARY, in Nogales, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 1996 with Rabbi Bilgray officiating. Interment will follow at Temple Emmanuel Cemetery, Nogales, AZ. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway).

PETERMAN, Robert Harrison, 80, of Tucson, passed away June 24, 1996. Survived by wife, Clara of Tucson; daughter, Barbara Trainor of Tucson; son, Robert “Bobby’ Charles (Kay) Peterman of Thatcher, AZ; grandchildren, Brad (Kelly) Trainor of Tucson, Billy (Kerrie) Trainor of Safford, Robby Peterman and Don Peterman, both of Thatcher, Kathy (Terrel) Peterson of Pima; great-grandchildren, Gregory Trainor, Elizabeth, Cassy and Michael Peterson. Private Graveside Services will be held Thursday at Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call, Wednesday, 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile.

POLAND, Mae F., beloved mother and grandmother, died June 21, 1996 after an extended illness. She was 79. Mae moved to Tucson from Torrance, CA in 1987 to be with her daughter, Mary Ann Heltsley, after her husband, Fred, died in 1986. The Poland family relocated from their native Maine to California in 1951 for Fred’s career in the post-WWII defense industry at Douglas Aircraft (now McDonnell Douglas). Mae worked at Douglas for 10 years, but she also devoted much of her life to caring for foster children. Mae was raised in Aroostook County, ME though she was born a few miles into Canada during her parents’ brief work visit in 1917. Daughter, Mary Ann (Ernie); granddaughter, Gina (Bill) Corbin and great-granddaughter, Bethaney, cared for Mae in her home up until her final few hours. She died at Tucson Medical Center. Also surviving are sons, Fred (Hettie) Sholler, Acton, Me; Gary (Diane) Sholler of Niland, CA, another daughter, Sheree (Dexter) Caldwell of Hesperia, CA; sister, Dottie (Bill) Barrett of Hillsboro, NH; and brother, Harold (Cindy) Furrow of Zephyrhills, FL. Mae also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives in Maine, with the most common names Furrow, Poland and Sholler. Graveside Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 28 at Green Hills Cemetery, 27501 S. Western Ave., Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.

SCHNOCK, Alan Craig, died June 20, 1996 at St. Joseph’s Hospital after a valiant struggle against leukemia. Born August 23, 1960 in Davenport, Iowa, Al was a certified mechanic and was employed by Ugly Duckling Car Sales. His surviving family members include: his fiancee, Sue Downey; son, Donald; sister, Cathy (Jack) Moore of Phoenix; uncle, Robert Heer of WA; niece and nephew; and his special friend, Dayne Downey. Graveside Services 9:00 a.m. Friday, June 28 at East Lawn Palms Cemetery.

WIESE, Gilbert R., 74, died June 22, 1996 after a long illness. Born in Berlin, Wisconsin he moved his family to Tucson in 1960. He is a veteran of WWII, member of DAV and Oasis Lodge No. 52. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, LaRayne E.; son, Gary R. (Lydia); daughter, Pati Wiese Kennedy; grandchildren, Lori Kennedy (Edward) Matheson, Angela M. Fimbres, and Judith and Garrett Wiese; one sister, Alberta Schwandt; and brother, Morris Wiese, both of Ripon, Wisconsin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, June 28, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Inurnment to follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery.

ALONIS, Jon J. “Joe’, 46, of Tucson, passed away June 22, 1996. Survived by wife, Virginia G. Alonis; parents, John and Lilia Alonis; daughters, Krystal Marin and Elyse Adel. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 25, 1996 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (North Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered Wednesday, June 26, 1996 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church, 300 S. Tucson Blvd. Interment to follow at South Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements by TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.

BROCKMAN, Wilbur L., 73, died June 23, 1996. Survived by his wife, Marilyn Brockman; children, John Brockman of CO, Dana Leafe of GA, Ron Brockman of TX, Melodie Pellegrino of NJ and Robert Brockman of PA; six grandchildren; four sisters and four brothers also survive. Mr. Brockman was in the U. S. Air Force for 27 years before retiring. He has been employed at the Ben Franklin Crafts for the past 14 years. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Tucson Medical Center Hospice would be appreciated. No services are planned. Arrangements by BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

COON, Margaret E. (Haugen), born February 17, 1942, died June 17, 1996. Survived by three children, Thomas, Deborah and Sandra; five grandchildren, Tommy, Deidre, Emily, Ryan and Hannah; her mother, Peggy Seabolt; three brothers, Tom, Pat and Larry; and one sister, Virginia.

CRANNEY, Jeffery Dean, 29, of Tucson, passed away June 21, 1996. Proceeded in death by brother Torry, 20. Jeff joined his brother Torry while waiting to be the first heart-kidney transplant recipient at University Medical Center by Dr. Jack Copeland. Survived by his mother, Carolyn J. Cranney (C.C) of Tucson, Arizona and father, Robert D. Cranney of Layton, Utah; fiancee, Tammy Sutter; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert R. Conner; grandmother, Mrs. Alta Egersdorf; aunts and uncles, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Warren, Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Conner, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Egersdorf, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Beaver, Mr. and Mrs. Delreed Bergeson, Mr. and Mrs. C. Dabb, other aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 26, 1996 at TUCSON MORTUARY, South Chapel, 240 S. Stone Ave., from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered Thursday June 27, 1996 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Cathedral, 192 South Stone Ave. Family suggest donations may be made for a memorial plaque in memory of Jeff at Reid Park Zoo. GIROUX, Flo Carroll, 80, died June 21, 1996. Survived by loving husband of 50 years, Paul Giroux; loving mother of Nicki (Luis) Navarro; loving grandmother of Natalia Navarro, all of Tucson; loving aunt of Charlotte Johnson of Phoenix, Frank and Lance Giroux, both of CA. Mrs. Giroux was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Sabbar Shrine, Band-Aides and Christ the King Episcopal Church. She helped organize the Nursing School at St. Monica’s Hospital in Phoenix, now called Phoenix Community Hospital. An RN for over 50 years, taught nursing and she served for four years on the Washington State Board of Nursing. In lieu of flowers, donations to Christ the King Episcopal Church or to one’s favorite charity. Memorial Service 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 27 at Christ the King Episcopal Church, 2800 W. GRANILLO, Pedro E., 66, of Tucson, passed away June 23, 1996. He is survived by his daughters, Margarita (George) Salgado, Virginia Rodgers; sons, Peter, Ramon and Robert Granillo; sisters, Mary Tuller, Rosa Gomez, Hermina Contreras; and brothers, Clemente, Theodoro, Bernardo, and Refugio Granillo. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 27, 1996 from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (North Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave. with Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. Mass will be offered Friday, June 28 at 9:00 a.m., St. Margaret’s Church. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. HILL, Virginia B., 82, passed away June 15, 1996 in Omaha, Nebraska. Surviving family: daughters, Jane Hill of Omaha and Marcia Meadows of Tucson; a brother and a sister reside on the east coast; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Donations in her memory can be made to Opera Omaha, 312 S. 16th St., Omaha, NE 68102.

HORN, Columbia (Debbie), 90, of Tucson, died June 23, 1996. She is survived by her daughter, Betty Fisher; sons, Allen of Tucson; James of CA and Raymond of Guam; five grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Mrs. Horn was a longtime resident of Tucson, a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, was very active in the Armory Park Senior Citizens Center and started the Armory Park Library. Friends may call one hour prior to service time. Funeral services will be at HEATHER MORTUARY, 1040 N. Columbus, on Wednesday, June 24, 1996 at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at South Lawn Mausoleum. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

JANES, Beverly, battle with a long illness ended June 22, 1996 when she went to be with our Lord. She is survived by her two sons, Scott (Tammy) and Mark (Melissa) Kunze; as well as her father, sister, grandson and numerous other family members. Beverly enjoyed scuba diving and photographing wild life. She served with the Arizona Department of Public Safety for seven years. Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, June 26 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, Thank you everyone for your love and support.

KITT, W. Stanley, 91, died June 22, 1996. Survived by his wife, Abbie Kitt of 55 years; children, Claudia Fields and Kendall Kitt; grandchildren, Travis and Allison Carson; sister, Pauline Hull. KUCHEMAN, Stella, age 85, of Tucson, AZ, died Monday, June 24, 1996. A resident of Tucson for the past 14 years. Survived by daughter, Mary (Jim) Fay, grandchildren, Jim (Cathy) Fay, Janice (Jim) Tress and John Fay; great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Michelle and Katherine Fay, and Thomas and Samantha Tress, all of Tucson; sisters, Julia Sampson and Irene Horvath; and brother, Eugene (Carol) Pakoy, all of St. Paul, Minn; and half-sister, Rose Wosary of Barberton, Ohio. LAKOSKY, Juana P., 70, died June 24, 1996. Survived by her husband, Sylvester Lakosky; children, Deborah (Ronald) Edgell, Sy (Maechelle) Lakosky, Linda (Matt) Cooper, Daren (Susan) Lakosky, all of Tucson; brother, Earnest Bushnell of FL; 13 grandchildren also survive. Mass will be offered at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 26 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 215 S. Craycroft. Interment to follow at Our Lady of the Desert Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 25 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, and friends may call from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 25 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

LAMB, Russell J., 84, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away June 20, 1996. Survived by his wife, Bessie Faye; daughter, Jean Miller; grandchildren, Taina Miller and Gregory Newman; great-granddaughter, Renee; one brother and six sisters also survive. Memorial Service Saturday, June 29 at 10:00 a.m. at Commanche Wells Mobile Home Park with Pastor Robert J. Siebels of First Church of God officiating.

MCCARTHY, Rita H., 78, died June 13, 1996. Survived by sister, Mary McCarthy who cared for her for the past 12 years, sister, Therese McNally; and brother, J. J. McCarthy. Memorial Service 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 26 at St Cyril’s Catholic Church.
