PARSONS, George Stanley, passed from this world June 19, 1996 to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his loving wife of 62 years, Marie. George was born in Grand Rapids, MI, on December 17, 1912. In his early years he worked in the CCC camps of Northern Michigan. Later he joined the aircraft industry rising to the position of shop steward and master machinist for Continental/Teledyne until retirement and relocation to Tucson in 1971. George and Marie were active in the social life of Rincon Country Mobile Home Park including the Roadrunner Shuffle Board Team. During their years there they enjoyed many good friends. During his life George was active in the Masonic Lodge and was treasurer of the Immanuel Lutheran Church both in Muskegon, MI, and was a member of the National Association of Civilian Conservation Corps Alumni while in Tucson. George was a hunting, camping and fishing enthusiast who enjoyed life to its fullest. Gun and coin collecting and ham radio were lifelong hobbies. The Arizona outdoors including its plants and animals, its old ghost towns and many campgrounds gave him great pleasure in his retirement. George loved his family. He was a devoted, faithful husband, a kind, thoughtful, champion of his children, and a grampa loved and respected by all his grandchildren. To others he was a friend. George was a man who knew how to be kind, to be gentle and to love life and to place the needs of others before those of his own. All who knew and loved him will miss him greatly but will be glad in the knowledge that he lived a good life to his last days and that he left this world in peace with his son and daughter at his side. Survivors include; one son, Charles E. (Carla) Parsons of Key Biscayne, FL; one daughter, Sharon K. In 1610, two young German brothers crossed the border into Spain and sailed into the New World. They stopped at the Canary Islands and pursuantly chose their surnames Islas or Yslas (island). My mother spelled it mostly with a “Y’. They eventually settled about 30 miles northeast of Hermosillo Sonora Mexico, along the fertile San Migel Valley. Coronado’s Journal (1530) mentioned it as the spath Indian’s bread basket. Most of their ancestry came to Tucson and California. My mother came over in 1915 where she met my Dad. The family gratefully acknowledges the warmth and caring assistance of Community Hospice whose help and support made it possible for Jose to spend his last days at home with his family.
