SPENCER, Marie L., 86, of Tucson, died June 18, 1996. Survivors include her son, John R. (Patricia) Spencer; daughter, Diane M. (James) Leadlove; grandchildren, Lacinda Spencer Davidson, Thomas M. Spencer, both of Tucson and John P. Spencer of Camarillo, CA; plus six great grandchildren. Mrs. Spencer had been a resident of Tucson since 1967 and was a member of First United Methodist Church in addition to White Shrine of Jerusalem #2. She was loved and blessed by Walk To Emaus #17 as well as the C.F.O. camping experience. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway) from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 1996. Funeral Services will be at First United Methodist Church, 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 21, 1996 with Rev. David Devereaux officiating. Interment will follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway).

TRABU, Walter F., 77, died June 18, 1996. Father of Larry Trabu of Tucson, Linda McLean and Joanne Goldman, both of TN; six grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren also survive. Memorial Service 9:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22 at Christ the King Episcopal Church, 2800 W. Ina Rd. with Fr. Gregory Wyes officiating. Mr. Trabu was a WWII Army veteran. The family suggest donations to the American Heart Association. Arrangements by BRING’S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott.

MUNN, Maribeth R., 53, of Tucson, passed away June 13, 1996. Survived by loving companion, Ned Alicata; mother, Gertrude D. Reeves; daughters, Karen (Jack) Munn, Teresa (Thomas) Anagnostos; son, Scott (Donna) Munn; one sister and one brother; grandchildren, Solomon, Christina, Serenity, Jack, Laura Ann, Kristen and Thomas. Preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecka. Maribeth had a remarkable love of life. She was tragically taken from her family and many friends who cherished her. Maribeths work in the nursing field benefited anyone who came in contact with her because of her unsurpassed compassion. She was the president of AM Vets #39 Aux., a member of the Moose Lodge, an associate member of Firefighters Station #2 and a member of the DAV #28 Aux. Maribeth will remain in our hearts forever. Visitation will be held Friday, June 21, 1996 from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 22, 1996 at 9:00 a.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel). Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.

PANTLEY, John L., 79, died June 14, 1996. Survived by wife, Elvira (Sally) Pantley; two daughters, Dolly Tucker and Nancy Ferro; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren; seven nieces and nephews. A Memorial service conducted by Brother Richard Plummer to be held at Central Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 1922 S. Rosemont and 29th St., at 2:00 p.m. on June 22, 1996.

PROBASCO, Evelyn M. Sanford, passed away June 17, 1996 at the age of 73. Evelyn was born in Cole Camp, MO, came to Tucson in 1929. She is survived by her husband, Opha Probasco; daughter, Sandra (Charles) Dunaway Wellner; grandson, Curtis Dunaway; granddaughter, Tammy Dunaway Laursen; brother, Arnold (Ida) Sanford; great grandson, Kyle Laursen; nephews, Michael, Mark and Gary Sanford; niece, Debbie Sanford Goldey; grandniece, Katy Prichard; and grandnephews, Jason Thompson and John Sanford. Evelyn retired from Hughes Aircraft Co. after 23 years in 1977. Memorial Services will be at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 1431 W. Magee on Friday, June 21, 1996 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. ROGERSON, Richard L., entered into eternal life June 15, 1996. Born April 19, 1946 in Ogden, UT to Earl L. and Priscilla J. Rogerson. Richard worked for Carnes Construction Co. for 18 years. He was a project manager and in 1995 he was awarded the Outstanding Superintendent Construction Excellence Award by the American Sub-Contractors Assoc. He was a devoted grandfather, father and husband and an avid golfer and bowler. He is survived by his wife, Marian; his sons, Richard (Katrina), Bradford and Gregory; his brothers, Terrance (Vileen) and Charles (Verlene); and his grandchildren, Natasha and Joshua. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 19 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. Funeral Service 3:00 p.m. Thursday, June 20 at Christ Presbyterian Church, 6565 E. Broadway, with Rev. Joy Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Richards name to the Christ Presbyterian Church Building Fund. SMITH, Margaret Annette Williams, died Monday, June 17, 1996 after a valiant fight with lung cancer. She was born January 9, 1930 in San Angelo, Texas and grew up in Carlsbad, New Mexico. She attended the University of New Mexico where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She married her college sweetheart, Everett Smith, now a retired president of Duval Corporation. Their children are Karen Camille (William Miller) of Bakersfield, CA, and Dean Brannon Smith (Margaret Anita) of Atlanta, GA; and six grandsons, Dean, Rett, Drew, and Todd Miller, and Brett and Grant Smith. She was a member of the Tucson Medical Center Auxiliary, Tucson Assistance League, and Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumnae Association. She was active in two bowling leagues: the Wednesday Morning Amateurs, and the Thursday Morning Handicappers. There will be a memorial service Thursday, June 20th at St. Philips In The Hills Episcopal Church at 3:00 p.m., Fr. Peter Cheney officiating. She will be buried in the Smith Family Cemetery established in 1884 in Eddy County, New Mexico.

STALEY, Donna Dee, 54, of Tucson, passed away June 17, 1996. Survived by husband of 30 years, John W. Staley; mother, Florence E. Darley, both of Tucson; sisters-in-law, Barbara Nichols, Linda Peterson and Carolyn Allen, all of IL. Mrs. Staley had been employed by the University of Arizona for the past 15 years. Services, Thursday, 2:00 p.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile, with Dr. J. C. Joiner, Pastor of New Testament Baptist Church and Rev. Leonard Smith officiating. THUM, Willgean (Bill), 71, of Tucson, went to be with the Lord June 11, 1996 but his memory will remain in our hearts. We, his family, thank God for providing a loving husband, father and grandfather. We will miss both his sense of humor which he maintained throughout his illness and his ability to fix just about anything. He is predeceased by his parents, Gladys and Oscar Thum; sister, Molly and first wife, Grace. He is survived by his wife, Joan whom he joined in marriage January 14, 1977; sister, Elva; children, Edward Thum (Judi), Mary Herman (Bob); stepchildren, Michael J. Menke, Patrick L. Menke, William G. Menke, Carolyn Layne, Barbara Vergara and Jan Menke; grandchildren, Edward Thum (Malissa), Michael Thum, Gabriel Thum, Amanda Herman and Zach Herman; great grandchildren, Giuseppe Thum and numerous other loving family members and friends. Donations in his name may be made to Carondelet Hospice of St. Joseph’s Hospital. Friends will gather in his memory on Saturday, June 22, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. at ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL, 3435 N. 1st Ave. (888-1111).

TRENS, Lillian B., 102, of Tucson, passed away June 17, 1996. Survived by granddaughters, Lillian Robles, Louella Lecompte, Margie Trens and Barbara Thomas; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 20, 1996 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (North Chapel), 204 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered Friday, June 21, 1996 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Cathedral, 192 South Stone Ave. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. BATKA, Lucie C., 92, of Tucson, died June 15, 1996. She was preceded in death by her husband, Matt Batka and five brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her sister, Fannie Walker of Tucson. Lucie was a member of the Board of Realtors of Tucson and Grace St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Friends may call on Wednesday, June 19 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2545 N. DEUBERT, Walter F., 72, passed away May 27, 1996. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 22, 5:30 p.m., at Rolling Hills Golf Course, 8900 E. 29th St., with refreshments to follow. Wife, Rita, wishes to thank all family, friends, and neighbors for their kind and generous expressions of sympathy and support in these most trying times. Your remembrances will forever be held in my heart.

FOWLER, Robert Grey, 79, of Tucson, Arizona, died June 16, 1996. He is survived by his wife, Nancy of 50 years; son, William R. (Debra) of Corona del Mar, California; daughter, Margaret Christina of Austin, Texas; and sister, Betty F. (Robert) Root of Medford, Oregon. Mr. Fowler was born in McMinnville, Oregon December 18, 1916 and lived his early years in Medford, OR. He graduated from Oregon State University in 1939 with a degree in Agriculture Economics and was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He was a veteran of 43 months in World War II, 21 months of which were spent with the 5th Air Corps in the South Pacific, primarily as an Air Force Chemical Warfare Officer in campaigns through New Guinea and the Philippines. He was on Ei Shimia, August 1945 when the Japanese surrendered, envoys arrived ending World War II. He was married after the war and spent most of the next 18 years in San Mateo, California as writer/editor of the Farm Journal Magazine covering the five western states. He joined the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension Service in 1970 and retired in 1983. The family requests in lieu of flowers, remembrances be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. No funeral is planned. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. LARUWE, Arthur L., 77, of Tucson, died June 15, 1996. Survived by wife, Beatrice J. Laruwe of Tucson; daughters, Janet (Rev. Rick) Mensing of Tucson, Kathryn (Charles) Shirey of Medford, OR and Cynthia (William) Cross of Tucson; brother, Leo (Mary Lou) Laruwe of Northville, MI; and six grandchildren. LEDEZMA, Joseph Alberto, April 26, 1996 – June 14, 1996. Joseph was taken home into the arms of Jesus on Friday. He went peacefully with no pain or suffering. His little body could endure no more and the Lord knew this so he took Joseph. It is hard to understand why, but he is happy now and in the arms of his Savior, grinning down at us from heaven. MCCONE, Percy V., 92, of Tucson, passed away June 16, 1996. He is survived by wife, Marie H. McCone of Tucson; son, Robert and his wife Carole McCone of CA; daughter, Patricia and her husband Valentine Sanger of CO; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mr. McCone was very active in Lions Club. Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 1996 at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 4831 E. 22nd Street, with Lyle Paulsen officiating. He is survived by his daughters, Polly (Leslie) Mogge, Jeri Baker; grandchildren, Tami (Robin), Scott (Denise), Connie, Rob, Staci; great-grandsons, Darrin, Dustin; and sister, Jeanne Swanson. Mr. McIntyre was a World War II U. S. Army Air Corps Veteran. PRUETT, Ethel, 95 years old, died Monday, June 17, 1996 in Tucson. Survived by two sons, C.D. (Maxine) Pruett of Riverside, CA, Wm E. (Gene) Pruett of Decatur, IL; son-in-law, Perry Spargur of Tucson; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild. Preceded in death by her husband Ernest Pruett and daughter Mary Anna Spargur.
