HUMPHREY, Mary Margaret, 70, died June 9, 1996, after a long and valiant battle against cancer.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 47 years, John Julius; two children, George and Laurie, both of Tucson; four grandchildren, Jocelyn, Ryan, Nicole and Trevor; son-in-law, Rick Strauss; and daughter-in-law, Kathleen.
Prior to her retirement in 1990, Mrs. Humphrey served for 12 years as conference coordinator at the Arizona Cancer Center.
At her retirement, Sydney Salmon, M.D., Center Director, said, “You’ve been a long-term and very loyal employee of the Arizona Cancer Center.
In fact, You’ve seen it grow from being based in a tiny office in the Hospital through a temporary building and now to being a freestanding major facility.
Our conferences are recognized as being outstanding and you’ve been at the center of that effort.
Prior to joining the Cancer Center, Mrs. Humphrey served for five years as editorial assistant at the Journal of Chemical Education at the University of Arizona Department of Chemistry.
Before that, she worked at the Arizona Regional Medical Program.
Born in 1926 in Los Angeles, CA, Mrs. Humphrey graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1947.
For 19 years she served as Vice President of the J.J. Humphrey Co., Inc., of Laramie, WY, Wyoming’s largest television and appliance dealership.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, as well as a trusted and loyal friends to many, Mrs. Humphrey will be remembered for her graciousness, keen wit and remarkable compassion.
She will be dearly missed.
Graveside services will be held 8:30 a.m. Friday, June 14, 1996 at East Lawn Cemetery.

JOHNSON, Thomas K., 71 years old, died Thursday June 13, 1996 in Tucson.
Survived by two sons, Thomas K. Johnson of Hartford, CT, Eric C. Johnson of Cleveland, OH; two daughters, Christina Ann Obral of Tucson, and Karen D. Hromyak of Denver, CO; brother, Carl G. Johnson of Rocky River, OH; five grandchildren.

LARRABEE, Raymond Bradley, 36, died June 9, 1996, in an accident near Salem, OR.
At the time he was doing what he loved best, riding his motorcycle.
He was serving his 16th year in the US Navy.
Ray is survived by Barbara Larrabee (mother), Sahuarita, AZ; Jim and Ann Larrabee (father/stepmother) and Phil, Mick and Lisa Larrabee, Tucson, AZ; and numerous relatives.
He will be especially missed among friends from the U.S. Navy and the BMW Motorcycle Club of America.
Memorial services will be held at 9 a.m., Saturday, June 15, by Rev. John Ierly at Catalina United Methodist Church, 2700 E. Speedway.
MALDONADO, Martin, 23, of Tucson, passed away June 12, 1996.
Survived by parents, Socorro Maldonado Galindo and Rafael Maldonado; sisters, Marisela (Alberto) Virgen, Sandra Galindo; brothers, Rafael Jr., Alfredo, and Manuel Maldonado.
Also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

BLACKLIDGE, John Vincent, 36, died June 11, 1996.
Son of Frank Blacklidge of Catalina; step-son of Loretta Blacklidge of Catalina; brother of Keith M. Blacklidge of Lake Havasu; uncle of Michael M. (Cassi) Blacklidge of Tucson; step-brother of Todd Sandoval, Brian Sandoval, Gina Sandoval and Cari Miller, all of Tucson; several grand-nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Jean Blacklidge.

DRAKE, Willie Hodge, 90, died June 12, 1996 in Scottsdale, AZ.
Her family moved to Arizona in 1911 living in Hayden, Phoenix, Tucson and Douglas.

FETTER, Gene F., age 74, born in Marion, OH on November 25, 1921, died in Tucson June 11, 1996 of heart failure.
Survived by his wife of 47 years, Phyllis Ruhl Fetter; brother, Tom (Jo) Fetter of Marion, OH and Tucson; sister, Virginia Marchetto of Columbus, OH; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Ruhl of Tucson, Donna Porter of Columbus and Henry Ruhl of FL and OH; also nephew, Tommy (Kathy) Fetter of Tucson and other nieces and nephews.
Gene was a graduate of Ohio Northern University, received his master’s degree from Indiana University and completed the course work for the doctorate in Education at the University of Southern California.
He coached football for many years including stints at St. Joseph’s College in IN, Arizona State University, San Diego Naval Training Center and the University of Arizona.
Following his advanced study at USC, he was for several years the Director of Special Events and Recreation at Vista Del Mar Child Care Center in Los Angeles, CA.
He returned to Tucson in 1973 where he purchased and managed Ruhl Advertising & Decorating until his first heart attack in 1975.
Gene served in the Army Air Corps for four years during World War II as an athletic specialist in special services.
Gene’s most happy moments over the last 20 years came from playing Santa Claus for the Arizona Daily Star Sportsman Fund during the annual Christmas parties held for the children of the Santa Rosa Ranch School, Tohono O’Odham Reservation near Tucson.
Services will be private.
All who knew and loved him are invited to a celebration of his life at a wake on Saturday, June 15, 2:00 p.m. at the family home, 8940 N. Riviera Drive in Oro Valley.

Born in Tucson November 14, 1976, passed away May 29, 1996 in Augusta, GA as the result of a car accident.
Survived by father, Floyd (Butch); mother, Cecelia; brother, Adam of Evans, GA; maternal grandmother, Marguerite Motherway of Tucson; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Fields of Sulfur, OK; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

HANNLEY, Vincent Paul “Doc’ Col., U.S.A.F., ret., 80, of Tucson, died Monday, June 10, 1996.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes; children, Dr. Maureen Hannley, Michael F. (Ruth) Hannley, Elizabeth (Greg Bogard) Hannley, Patricia (Ron) Sable, James P. (Sandy) Hannley, Heather K. (Mark) Minder, Gregory P. (Andrea) Hannley, Robert B. Hannley; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild; and three sisters.
During his Air Force career, Col. Hannley was stationed at Davis-Monthan from 1949 to 1955 and was Vice Base Commander from 1958 to 1961.
He retired from the Air Force and moved back to Tucson in 1967.
After retirement he was a representative for Equitable Life Ins. and went back to school and received a B.S. from the University of Arizona in 1975.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 1996 at Davis-Monthan A.F.B. Chapel #1.
Entombment will follow at the Mausoleum of Peace, East Lawn Palms Cemetery.

HOUGHTON, David Easton, born in Amarillo, TX August 12, 1953, died Tuesday, June 11, 1996 after a long illness.
He grew up in Kansas City and came to Tucson to study flute at the University of Arizona.
He became a landscape architect and has lived here ever since.
He loved to garden and belonged to the Men’s Garden Club of Tucson.
The family plans a private memorial service.
He leaves his wife, Debra Cady Houghton of the home; his two sons, Tyler Beals Houghton and Ian Easton Houghton; his three sisters, Sallie Houghton Capen of Olathe, KS, Cindy Eackert of Okmulgee, OK and Elizabeth Stafford of Maysville, OK; his mother, Patricia Marty Houghton of Springhill, KS; and his father, George Winram Houghton of Okmulgee, OK.
KURDELSKI, Lois, 71, of Tucson, died June 11, 1996.
Survivors include children, Patricia, David and Carol (James) O’Donogue; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Shawn) Rhodes, Kathleen (Matthew) Young, Kimberly and Teresa O’Donogue; one great granddaughter and numerous other relatives.
