BAGALINI, James Bryan, 42, of Lakeside, CA, passed away September 14, 1996 outside of Canebrake, CA. Born in Tucson February 1, 1954. Survived by wife, Wendy; and son, Bryan of Lakeside, CA; mother, Mary and father, Rudy of Pinetop/Lakeside and Tucson; uncles, Ben (Dory) Arntz of Pioneer, CA, George Arntz of Tucson; great uncle, Bryan (Doris) Lyerly of Tucson; sister, Mibbie (Eldon) Rusin of Tucson; brothers, John of Australia, Michael (Michele) of Tucson; sisters, Jeanne (John) Vliestra of Upland, CA, Christina and Anne (Paul) Breshears of Tucson; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Graveside Services were held September 20 at Greenwood Memorial Park in San Diego, CA.

BARNES, Charles W., 73, died September 21, 1996. Husband of Carol Barnes; father of Donald Barnes of Tucson, Judith LaOne of MI and William Barnes of Japan; brother of Herbert Barnes of ME; cousin of Catherine Myson of PA; eight grandchildren also survive. He was a member of the Baha’i. He was retired from Vision Quest where he worked as a family counselor. He served in the Army/Air Force WWII as a radio operator on a B25. Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 25 at TMP, East Lawn Palms Chapel, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Burial to follow. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 24 at East Lawn Palms Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Assoc., 5325 E. CLEMENTS, Alice Marie, 80, died September 22, 1996 in Scottsdale, AZ.Mother of Jerry O. Clements of Tucson and Barbara J. Cumberledge of Scottsdale; sister of Edward Karlik of Papillion, NE and Eleanor Hlavacek of Omaha, NE; grandmother of Robert Allan and Scott David Cumberledge and Angela Hill. Funeral Service 9:30 a.m. Thursday, September 26 at BRING’S MEMORIAL CHAPEL with Rev. Andrew Ross officiating. Burial in TMP, South Lawn. Mrs. Clements was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church and Sonotone of Tucson. The family suggests donations in Mrs. Clements memory be made to Northminster Presbyterian Church. HIGNET, Otheda, 74, resident of Tucson for five years, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA. She died September 23, 1996. She is survived by her husband, Robert T. Hignet; daughters, Roberta (Don) Norris, Alice (Joe) Brown, Judy (Bill) Brown, Lorraine (Jim) Porter, four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice Bithel, Janet Bush, Lois Wickline. MEYER, Rosetta May, 89, of Tucson, died September 23, 1996. Survived by son, Shelby Warren (Annette) Meyer; grandson, Dustin Meyer, both of Tucson. Predeceased by husband, Maynard Herman Meyer who died September 22, 1992. Graveside Services at a later date at North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud, Minnesota. OSIF, Steven, 36, of Tucson, suffered a fatal heart attack September 4, 1996. He is survived by parents, George and Bette Osif of Burkley, MI; sister, Sheryl; brother, Brian; niece, Crystal; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Interment at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy, MI.

KAUFMANN, Frieda M., 90, a resident of Tucson for 43 years and formerly of Detroit, MI, peacefully passed away on September 20, 1996. Preceded in death by loving husband, Arthur J. Kaufmann; and son, Arthur, Jr. Survived by daughter, Sister Joachim Kaufmann, Sisters of Christian Charity (Suzanne M.); four grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 24 with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. in SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. LAMARCHE, Barbara K., age 75, a 40 year resident of Tucson, passed away September 21, 1996. Born September 24, 1920 in Maple, WI. She was a Radiology Medical Transcriber for 20 years. Preceded in death by her husband, Ardell LaMarche. Survived by her children, Ronald Swann of Tucson, Merideth Walzer of Flagstaff, Roger Swann of Tucson; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Al moved to Tucson in 1988 after retiring from Sears in San Jose, CA. Member of the Blinded Veterans Association and the Association for Blind where contributions may be made in lieu of flowers. SUTTON, Virginia G., 71, of Tucson, passed away on September 17, 1996. She was born April 18, 1925 in James, Mississippi. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Sutton-Robinson and her son-in-law, Clyde Robinson; and her grandchildren; Dylan Sutton and Taylor Robinson of Tucson and Robert Barnett of Indianola, MS; and countless other friends and relatives whose lives she enriched. She dearly loved the people and arts of Mexico and the arts of the Native American tribes. She was known and loved by all who met her for her great southern warmth and cooking. Memorial Services will be held at St. Phillips of the Hills Church, Campbell and River, Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

VERDUGO, Rodolfo B., 75, passed away peacefully on September 19, 1996. A Tucson native and decorated WWII veteran. Survived by his wife of 47 years, Grace; his children, Brenda, Daniel and Joseph Verdugo; his sisters, Betsey Grinnell and Mary Navarro; his brothers, Manuel and Gilbert Verdugo. Survived also by several nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 22, 1996 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered Monday, September 23, 1996 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 215 S. Craycroft, with Rev. John Allt officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery with full military honors by DMAFB Honor Guard. WALDON, Grant III (M/SGT, Major, Retired, (USAF) passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 1996 at the age of 62. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Sandra of 39 years; mother, Rosemary Malone; and step-father, Merion Malone of Indiana; three daughters, Christal Harris (Paul) and Tonya Twine (Dwayne), both of Tucson and Vicky Burks of Kokomo, Indiana. He was a loving grandfather of five grandchildren, Tiauana, Shanee, Marcus, Brittany and Tara. He was preceded in death by his father, Grant Waldon, Jr. Also survived by mother-in-law, Frances Coleman of Tucson; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives, and a host of friends. Mr. Waldon retired from the United States Air Force after 25 years and retired from Civil Service for AMARC for 13 1/2 years. He will be loved and missed by all those who knew him for his kindness and generosity and heart of gold. He will be awaiting our reunion standing at the PEARLY GATES OF HEAVEN. Visitation will be at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd., Sunday, September 22, 1996 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 23, 1996 at 9:00 a.m. at the Southside Church of Christ, 2503 E. 36th St. Graveside Services will take place at Ft. YBARRA, Carlos, born April 21, 1941, went to be with our Lord on September 19, 1996. Survived by his wife, Carmen; daughter, Carmen (Richard) Aguila; five sons, Frank, Carlos, Jack, Jose (Priscilla), Manuel(Christina); three sisters, Teresa (Ernesto) Verdugo, Yoland Ybarra, Estelita (Jose) Montante; seven brothers, Enrique(Margaret), Augustin (Maria), George(Debbie), Santiago (Gloria), Guadalupe, Joseph (Tammy), Johnny; 13 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. We love and miss you Carlos, but know that you are in a far better place and look forward to that one sweet day when we are all reunited. Survived by her brother, Alberto (Bertha) Nunez; and a sister, Maria Figueroa; her children, Hector, Rudy (Martha), Angie (Tiburcio) Munoz and Carmen (Eduardo) Cordova; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. LEE, Frank (Faya), 71, a long time Tucson resident and retired pharmacist, passed away peacefully on September 16, 1996. Born August 3, 1925 in San Francisco, CA, Frank moved with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Lee Fong to Tucson at age six. He was educated at Tucson High School and the University of Arizona. Frank owned and operated Lee’s Pharmacy on N. Tucson Blvd. for almost 20 years. Preceded in death by wife, Helen O. Lee. Survived by son, Jonathan Lee (Radmila); grandchildren, Adam and Maya of Jamison, PA; his daughter, Karen “Kiki’ Strauss (Tom); grandchildren, Courtney and Allison of Denver, CO; brother, Raymond T. Lee (Louise) of Tucson, AZ; sister, Beatrice Jue (Ed) of Los Angeles, CA; and 10 nieces and nephews. Visitation Friday, September 20, 1996, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at EVERGREEN MORTUARY, N. Oracle Road. BLESSING, Robert W. Mass and Services for Robert W. Blessing, 27, of Bayonne, NJ, were held at St. Andrews Church, Bayonne, NJ on September 10, 1996. He died the previous Friday at Mt. Sinae Hospital, New York, NY. Born in Lansdowne, PA, he lived in Kendall Park, NJ, moved to Tucson, AZ, then to Bayonne, NJ. He was an emergency medical technician with the McCabe Ambulance Service for four years and served as a volunteer for Kendall Park Rescue. While living in Tucson, AZ, Rob worked for Kord’s Ambulance, Avis Rent A Car and Evergreen Air Center where he was involved in a volunteer EMT program and was a qualified air rescue firefighter. Surviving are his parents, Robert F. and Mae E.; a sister, Susan Jaconetti; a brother, Christopher; and a brother-in-law, James Jaconetti. The family requests any donations to be made in Robert Blessings name to the Bone Marrow Foundation, 981 First Ave., Suite 129, New York, NY 10022, Attn: Christina Merrill.
