James Douglas Vance, 88 years, passed away in Yuma, AZ on 11/28/01. Mr. Vance was born in Nebraska, 06/23/1913.
Retired from the US Postal Service as Postmaster in Pacific Palisades, California. Past President and honorary life member of Optimist International.
Survived by wife Ruby of Yuma, Daughters, Jane and Melissa of California 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Lucille Bundy
Loving Mother, Faithful Worker, Loyal Friend
Lucille Bundy was born January 12, 1918 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the third child of Elizabeth (Bessie) Barnes and McKinley (Mack) King. Her parents and siblings (Camilla, James and Ruth) preceded her in death.
Lucille came west with her sisters, settling in Yuma, Arizona - where she met and married Louis Jesse Bundy in 1937. Eight children were born to this union: Harold Leroy Bundy, Eugene Bundy, Barbara Bundy, Joseph Louis Bundy, Richard Earl Bundy, Michael Bundy, Espinola Opalena Bundy and Evangeline Maria Bundy. Lucille was also a loving mom to Irene Bundy Reed. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Lucille accepted the Lord as her Savior and became a member of Pentecostal Temple in 1943. She served in the Missionary Dept. as Treasurer and President for many, many years. She was an active Sunday School teacher until her death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis, and her sons Eugene and Michael.
Lucille was an inspiration to many church workers. She was always eager to work in God’s Kingdom. Her greatest desire was to see that everyone she knew accept Christ.
Services will be held at Johnson Mortuary on Tuesday, December 4, 2001 at 11am. Visitation will be the preceding Monday 4PM - 8PM.
Muriel E. Malone
Muriel E. Malone, 93, a resident of Yuma for 46 years, passed away Tuesday, November 27,2001. Visitation will be held from 12pm - 4pm Monday, December 3 at Yuma Mortuary, 551 W. 16th St. A memorial service will be held at 2:30pm with dessert and coffee at Emerald Springs following the service.
Muriel was a warm and loving mother and friend and a talented teacher. She was an English and Journalism teacher first at Yuma Union High School and then moved with the first class to Kofa High School where she taught until she retired.
Muriel was known and loved by her students, many of whom have stayed in touch with her throughout the years and some even shared her 93rd birthday with her at Emerald Springs on February 19, 2001.
During her teaching years she earned a Wall Street Journal Foundation Fellowship to attend the University of California at Berkley. Her newspaper staff at Kofa consistently earned the highest award given nationally for excellence in preparation of high school newspapers.
Muriel was active in the First Methodist Church womens group and the Yuma Grandmothers Club. She was also a member of numerous bridge groups. She was the wife of Murrey A. Malone, deceased in 1984. Murrey was a safety officer at Yuma Proving Ground.
After retirement, Muriel and Murrey spent their winters in Yuma and their summers at their cabin at Lake Isabel, CO, where they had many wonderful friends.
She is survived by two daughters: Rae DeCastro of Houston, Texas, and Jan Bednarz of Chicago, Illinois; four grandchildren: Cathi DeCastro Ferrick of Fairfax, Virginia, Kimberly Bednarz of Chicago, Illinois, Colleen Bednarz of Maui, Hawaii, Howard Lee DeCastro of Houston, Texas; and two Great-granddaughters: Siena Malone Ferrick and CampbellLane Ferrick of Fairfax, Virginia.
Muriel resided first at 1212 18th St. until 1984 then at the Saguaro Park until September 2000. She was currently a resident at Emerald Springs Retirement Center.
Muriel was born in Kansas on February 19, 1908 and had four older sisters and two older brothers.
Charles Buwe
Charles Buwe, 98, went home to God on November 27, 2001. He grew up in Milwaukee, WI., and was a Yuma resident for 30 years during his retirement.
He was a painter/ decorator in Milwaukee and also worked for Boynton Cab Co. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards.
Charley is survived by Anne his wife of 63 years as well as his daughter Shirley (Jon) Salo of Algonquin, IL, 3 grandchildren, Stephanie (Patrick) Callahan of Roseville, CA. Stacey Salo of Riverside, CA., and Scott (Tammy) Salo of Odenton , MD., and 2 great-grandchildren Taryn and Connor.
He is preceded in death by his son, Thomas, and 4 sisters.

Betty Hom Woon
Betty Hom Woon, 86, passed away on December 4, 2001in herhome; she was born May 15, 1915 in Canton, China.
She and her husband were owners of Chuck Food Market.
Betty is survived by her sons: Yee Bon Woon, Ben (Vi) Woon and Frank Woon; daughters: Penny (Mike) Peterson, Sue Woon, Sandra (Pete) Klein and Debbie Woon; and 7 grandchildren.Betty is preceded in death by her husband Yoke Sun (Chuck) Woon.
Visitation will be held today, December 7, 2001 from 5pm - 7pm. Funeral services will be held at Johnson Mortuary on Saturday, December 8, 2001 at 11am.
Betty’s final resting place will be in the Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
Kathryn Irene Kogler
Kathryn Irene Kogler, 77, passed away December 5, 2001 in Yuma, AZ. She was born October 29, 1924 in Okema, OK. Mrs. Kogler, graduated from Mason High School and was employed at Loo’s Restaurant. She attended West Yuma Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband Leroy Kogler, daughter, Linda Smith, granddaughter and grandson- in-law John and Annemarie Makowsky all of Yuma, sister, Doris Steelman of Lakeview Oregon, sister, Minnie Berninger of El Paso, Texas, 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Kogler was preceded in death by parents John & Lillie Dickey Bradley and son, Kenneth Leroy Kogler
Visitation will be Sunday at Johnson Mortuary from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Johnson Mortuary Monday at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Blakesley officiating. Final resting place will be Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers include Bill Steelman, John Makowsky, and Dennis Freeman, and Jeffrie Drencin
Honorary Bearers include Richard Vaughan, Kevin Vaughan, Kenneth Kogler Jr., Ronnie Kogler and Guy Cobham.
William A. Gill
William A. Gill left this world to be united with his Lord Jesus Christ on November 30, 2001. He was born September 21, 1921 in Indianapolis, IN. A Yuma resident since 1983; he is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Marjorie E. Gill of Yuma, his Daughter and son-in-law Cindy and Richard Ashby, his granddaughter and her husband Crystal and Ryan Tyler along with his great-granddaughter Kayla Ann Tyler, all of Temecula, CA., his niece Judy Jo Braden of FL and cousins James Somerville and Lilian Sullivan.
His grace and humor blessed the lives of many friends and co-workers throughout the years.
William was an active member of the Gila Mountain Methodist church. He served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, was a member of American Legion Post 19, and a member of the Yuma Moose Lodge.
To honor his wishes, there will be a private cremation service only. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of Yuma or the Gila Mountain Methodist building fund would be appreciated.

Rodolfo “Rudy” Olivas Sr.
Rodolfo “Rudy” Olivas Sr., 69, passed away on December 4, 2001 at U.M.C. Hospital in Tucson, AZ. He was born on August 24, 1932 in Ignacio Zaragoza, Chihuahua, Mexico.
Funeral services will be at Iglesia Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe, Madero Ave. and 10th St., San Luis, MX., today, December 7th at 3pm.Padre Tomas Munoz will officiate.
Rudy’s final resting place will be at the Jardines del Paraiso in San Luis, MX.
Betty Jane Teel
Betty Jane Teel, 77, a resident of Yuma for five years, died December 5, 2001 at Yuma Regional Medical Center. Mrs Teel was born in Fruitland, Iowa.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Sorken, of Minden, Nevada and Betty Dueschle , of Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and a sister, June Downey, of Ohio and her companion, John Castile, of Yuma.
There will be no services. A private cremation has taken place. Arrangements by Sunset Vista Funeral Home, Cemetery and Crematory.
Clorinda M. Nowosielski Eatmon
Clorinda Eatmon, 85 passed away December 6, 2001 in Yuma.She was born on July 7, 1916 to Vito & Mary Macchiaverna in Thacker, West Virginia.Clorinda was a homemaker for most of her life, and had also worked as a dental technician.
Clorinda is survived by her husband William “Bill” S. Eatmon of Yuma; daughter & son-in-law Lynn & Leonard Dean, granddaughter Tiffany Dean, all of Longmont, CO; step-daughter Sandra Mullen of Chester, MD; step-son William S. Eatmon Jr. of Flint, TX; and nieces Carolyn George and Jeanne Macchiaverna. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Pat, Eugene and Michael Macchiaverna.
Visitation will be held at Johnson Mortuary on Tuesday, December 11, 2001 at 1pm with funeral services following at 2pm.Her final resting place will be in Danbury, Connecticut.
