ELOW, Rose, 96, of Tucson, died September 17, 1996. Mrs. Elow was married to Bernard Elow, who died in 1984. They were active members of Congregation Anshei Israel. Mr. Elow served with General Pershing as his bugler. Mrs. Elow is survived by her daughter, Renee Jacobs of Tucson; and son, Kenneth Elow of New Hartford, NY; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was active in Temple Beth Joseph, Herkimer, New York for over 35 years, serving as both Secretary/Treasurer and past President of the Sisterhood, she was also a member of Hadassah and Handmaker. Mrs. Elow will be buried in Oakhill Cemetery, Herkimer, New York, Friday, September 20, 1996. Local arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY and CEMETERY, N. Oracle and W. Miracle Mile.

Mass will be offered 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 21 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 1375 S. Camino Seco, with Father Charles Cloud officiating. Interment at Our Lady of the Desert Cemetery. GOETZKE, Norman Dean Born June 28, 1934 in Flint, Michigan. Passed away on September 4, 1996 at Mesa Lutheran Hospital. Mr. Goetzke practiced law before the Genesee County Bar, as a graduate of The University of Michigan Law School. The Goetzke’s retired in 1980, traveled the country and settled in Arizona in 1981. They recently moved to Mesa from Tucson. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jeanne, brother Leonard and wife, Christine, plus numerous nieces and nephews. His ashes will be scattered at a memorial in the Catalina Mountains on September 21, 1996. Donations in his name may be directed to the Arizona Heart Institution Foundation, 2632 North 20th Street, Phoenix, A 85006. For memorial information, call 577-0286.

HURTADO, Graciela F. “Chelo”, 60, of Tucson, died September 17, 1996. Beloved wife of Manuel P.; loving mother to Manuel Jr. of San Manuel, George and Gilberto both of Douglas, Luis of Austin, TX, Enrique, Javier, Gerardo, Graciela and Adalberto, all of Tucson; 22 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Robert Franco; sister, Luz Torres, both of Phoenix, Herlinda Tapia of Agua Prieta. Visitation 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday, with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. in the SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Ave. Mass 9:00 a.m. Saturday, September 21 at St. Monicas Church. LEE, Frank (Faya), 71, a long time Tucson resident and retired pharmacist, passed away peacefully on September 16, 1996. Born August 3, 1925 in San Francisco, CA, Frank moved with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Lee Fong to Tucson at age six, and was educated at Tucson High School and the University of Arizona. Frank owned and operated Lee’s Pharmacy on N. Tucson Blvd. for almost 20 years. Preceded in death by wife, Helen O. Lee. Survived by son, Jonathan Lee (Radmila); grandchildren, Adam and Maya of Jamison, PA; his daughter, Karen “Kiki” Strauss (Tom); grandchildren, Courtney and Allison of Denver, CO; brother, Raymond T. Lee (Louise) of Tucson, AZ; sister, Beatrice Jue (Ed) of Los Angeles, CA; and 10 nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Friday, September 20, 1996, 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. at EVERGREEN MORTUARY, N. Oracle Road. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 21 at 4:00 p.m. at EVERGREEN MORTUARY CHAPEL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank’s memory to the Tucson Chinese Baptist Church, 2411 E. Ft. Lowell, Tucson, AZ 85719.

McCORMICK. In loving memory of Judith “Judy” Lynn (nee Weese), who gave up her long and valiant battle against cancer on September 12, 1996 in Phoenix, AZ with her family at her side. Judy was born in Tucson, AZ, September 18, 1949. She graduated from Rincon High School in 1967 and attended the University of Alaska and the U of A. At the time of her death she was employed by American Express in Phoenix. Survivors include: her husband, Jack of Phoenix; parents, Tommy and Betty Weese of Tucson; sister, Sandra (Fred) Sicks of DE; brother, Kenneth (Mary) of CA; two nieces and two nephews; stepchildren, John and Brian McCormick, Christine Quinn and Mary Keeney; and eight grandchildren, all of Phoenix. Memorial Services were held September 14 in Peoria, AZ. Graveside Services are planned for September 21 at 9:00 a.m. at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix.

PRO, Herlinda M., 68, Que en paz descanse. Born October 1, 1927 in Colonia Morelos, Sonora Mexico to Emiliano C. and Dolores Martinez. Ended her silent and courageous acceptance of pancreatic cancer on September 18, 1996. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ignacio and Ernesto Martinez. She leaves to enjoy her memories, her husband, Angel Pro; children, Angie (Manuel) Enriquez, Betty (Francisco) Montano, Rudy Pro (Jane Contreras), Dina (Daniel) Miranda, Connie (Mario) Yedra, Ana Pro (Arturo Martinez), Maribel Pro; step-children, Miguel (Evie) Pro, Gloria (Emiliano) Martinez, Blanca (Rafael) Enriquez; brother, Emiliano; sister, Virginia Martinez; 41 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, compadres, and friends. RICKETTS, Colbert Edwin “Bert”, 70, of Tucson, died Tuesday, September 17, 1996. He is survived by his wife, Alice; son, Donn Ricketts; daughter, Linda (Michael) Arnold. Mr. Ricketts was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church, B.P.O.E. Lodge #2532 and VFW Post 4903. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 1996 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd., with Pastor Steve Melde of Christ Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. SHERBIN, Florence V., 77 years old, died Tuesday, September 17, 1996 in Tucson. Survived by son, Joseph (Lynn) Sherbin of New River, AZ. Mass for Mrs. Sherbin will be said at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 20, 1996 at St. Cyril’s Church, 4725 E. Pima, with burial to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. WEBB, Rachael Ann, 79, of Tucson went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, September 17, 1996. Born January 8, 1917 in Gadsden, Alabama. Survived by husband John D.Webb; daughters, Sally Rehfeldt (Phil) of Redlands, CA and Jeanne Bourke of Tucson; sons, John D. (Woody) Webb II of Willcox and Joe D. Webb (Melody) of Prescott; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also survived by brother, Lloyd Chapman (Vivian) of Scottsdale; sisters, Dorothy Cummings (Norval) of La Grange, TX and Jean Beamer (Carl) of Bullhead City. Memorial service will be held on Friday September 20th at First Christian Church, 740 E. Speedway at 3:00 p.m., Dr. George Tolman and Pastor John Casteel officiating. GEGG, Dr. William Stanley, 75, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on September 14, 1996. He was born December 5, 1920, in Kowloon, Hong Kong. From 1941-1945 he was a POW of the Japanese. A graduate of The University of Sydney, College of Medicine, he practiced in the Far East and in the United States, and retired from the University of Arizona Anesthesia Department. He loved opera, jazz, and all music. He was a Civil War buff, and was interested in automobiles, art, cooking, reading, and played tennis regularly. He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia, of Tucson, and children, Caroline, William (Sharon), Margot (Larry), and grandchildren Jevon, Bryna, Weslee and Courtney of California. No Services. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY.

GEYER, Allen Haines, 63, a lifelong resident of Tucson, passed away September 15, 1996. Survived by wife, Judith; sons, Craig Allen (Amy) Geyer, John Knox Geyer, Robert William Bertich; grandchildren, Cierra J Geyer and Ryan Jeffrey Bertich; He was preceded in death by parents, Robert W. and Billie Knox Geyer. Mr. Geyer was a U.S.M.C Veteran of the Korean War. A lifetime member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and a Tucson business man. Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 20, 1996 at St. Phillips in the Hills Episcopal Church, River Rd. and Campbell Ave., with the Rev. David Richardson officiating. KONINGSOR, Deborah Jean, 49, died Friday, September 13, 1996 in Phoenix. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; and her children, Krista and Scott; her mother, Ruth Strazzinski; her sister, Kathryn Larch; her brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Janice Strazzinski of Chandler, AZ; nephew, Cameron Larch; niece, Hilary Larch; countless other friends and relatives whose lives she enriched with her prayers and long suffering. Preceded in death by her father Michael Strazzinski and her father-in-law Robert Koningsor. Debbie was a graduate of the University of Arizona Nursing program and worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital before leaving Tucson. She and her family recently moved back to Arizona after residing in New Jersey and Louisiana. Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 19 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1800 S. Kolb Rd., with Msgr. Thomas Cahalane officiating. Burial to follow at Our Lady of the Desert Cemetery. MARTIN, Wilmer D., 78, of Tucson, passed away on September 14, 1996 at the VA Medical Center in Tucson. He is survived by his wife, Mary Margaret; children, Ann (William) Holden, Richard Martin, Dolores Martin (Gary McAninch), and Donald Martin; grandchildren, Philip and Sharon Holden, and Neil Martin; brother, Vilas (Dortha) Martin; sisters, Lerita (Gaylord) Nelson and Donna Hayden. He was born March 23, 1918 in Guilford, Mo. He was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received in France in July 1944. He earned his BS in Education from NW Missouri State Univ. in 1948, his MS in Industrial Arts Education from Colo. State Univ. in 1952, and continuing education credits from UA and NAU. He taught Industrial Arts at Tucson High School from his arrival in Tucson in 1952 until he retired in 1978. Since retirement he enjoyed travel, family reunions, genealogy and volunteer work. He is a Life Member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 128, DAV Chapter 18 and VFW Post 4903, and a member of Tucson Family Campers and Catalina Good Sams. A Visitation will be held at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, on Wednesday, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 19, 1996 at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway). A private burial service will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Tucson VA Medical Center Hospice or Mobile Meals of Tucson would be appreciated.

NEAL, Alvin H., 70, of Tucson, passed away September 14, 1996. Survived by wife, Marie; children, Kathy (Larry) Skagen and Sherry (Fred) Gillmer; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one brother; and four sisters. Arrangements by ARIZONA MORTUARY.

NELSON, Roy, age 96, was born October 12, 1899 in Chicago, IL and passed away September 15, 1996. He was a nine year resident of Tucson. He was preceded in death by his wife Lorna. Survivors include: daughters, Lois Trester of Tucson and Ruth Rosenberg (Dean) of South Holland, IL; also he is survived by four grandchildren, David Trester and Joyce Wendtland of Tucson, Ellen Entwhistle of Magnolia, IL and Bill Rosenberg of South Holland, IL; eight great-grandchildren also survive. Roy was controller and vice president of A.C. Allyn Stocks and Bonds Company in Chicago in which he was employed for 40 years. He served 18 years on his local Riverdale-Dolton School Board, 12 years on the Chicago Cook County School Board and 15 years on his local Methodist Church Council, Dolton, IL. Funeral Service 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 1996 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway, with Pastor Frank Cherney of the Body of Christ Free Lutheran Church officiating. Burial to be in Dolton, IL. Friends may call from noon until Service Time Thursday, September 19 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL.

SLATE, Virginia Ruth, died in Denver, CO on Friday, September 13, 1996. She was born Virginia Ruth Harllee on November 5, 1915 in Thorndale, TX. In 1935 she married Leo B. Deely. After his death she married Ben R. Slate, who also preceded her in death. Virginia lived in Tucson for many years. Survivors include son, Leo B. Deely of Tucson; daughter, Patricia R. Nelson of Morrison, CO; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be held at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 1996. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant.

SUTHERLAND, Frank D., 86, of Tucson, passed away September 17, 1996. He is survived by nephews and nieces and numerous cousins. Frank was born in Tucson, Arizona from a pioneer family of ranchers. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 19, 1996 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of All Saints. Interment in Cemetery of the Resurrection, Montebello, CA.

WOOLISON, Elberta A., 68, a 10-year resident of Benson and former Tucson resident, passed away September 14, 1996. Survived by her husband; three daughters; two sons-in-law; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. No services are planned.
