BROOKS, Henrietta, born Henrietta Griffis on May 18, 1914 in Hondo, TX, departed for Heaven on September 15, 1996. married nearly 52 years, she dearly loved God and family. Mrs. Brooks was for years a Sunday School teacher, pianist, and soloist and a charter member of Government Heights Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband Charles, a retired rural mail carrier; sons, Dann C. (Jackie) Brooks of Phoenix, John R. (Donna) Brooks of Tucson; grandchildren, David, Aaron, Carrie and Bryan; and one great-grandson; one sister, Evelyn Bower and one niece, Nancy of Florida; sisters-in-law, Edna Brooks and Sylvia Mickolio of Montana; plus many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Brooks was predeceased by her sister, Louise and brother, Robert, both of Texas. Henrietta graduated from high school in Taylorville, Illinois and was at MBI in Chicago and then Racine, Wisconsin. She came to Tucson in 1944 and worked at Davis Monthan AFB where she met her future husband who was also employed there. HAMILTON, William, 71, of Tucson, died Sunday, September 15, 1996. Bill was born on February 9, 1925 in Berkley, MI, and lived most of his life in and around Detroit. In 1968 he moved to Wolverine, MI and in 1979 he settled in Tucson. A World War II Navy veteran, he served on the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Suwannee. Bill greatly enjoyed tennis and golf and will be missed by his friends. A Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 1996 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. MARTIN, Wilmer D., 78, of Tucson, passed away on September 14, 1996 at the VA Medical Center in Tucson. He is survived by his wife, Mary Margaret; children, Ann (William) Holden, Richard Martin, Dolores Martin (Gary McAninch), and Donald Martin; grandchildren, Philip and Sharon Holden, and Neil Martin; brother, Vilas (Dortha) Martin; sisters, Lerita (Gaylord) Nelson and Donna Hayden. He was born March 23, 1918 in Guilford, Mo. He was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received in France in July 1944. He earned his BS in Education from NW Missouri State Univ. in 1948, his MS in Industrial Arts Education from Colo. State Univ. in 1952, and continuing education credits from UA and NAU. He taught Industrial Arts at Tucson High School from his arrival in Tucson in 1952 until he retired in 1978. Since retirement he enjoyed travel, family reunions, genealogy and volunteer work. He is a Life Member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 128, DAV Chapter 18 and VFW Post 4903, and a member of Tucson Family Campers and Catalina Good Sams. A Visitation will be held at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, on Wednesday, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 19, 1996 at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. NELSON, Roy, age 96, was born October 12, 1899 in Chicago, IL and passed away September 15, 1996. He was a nine year resident of Tucson. He was preceded in death by his wife Lorna. Survivors include: daughters, Lois Trester of Tucson and Ruth Rosenberg (Dean) of South Holland, IL; also he is survived by four grandchildren, David Trester and Joyce Wendtland of Tucson, Ellen Entwhistle of Magnolia, IL and Bill Rosenberg of South Holland, IL; eight great-grandchildren also survive. Roy was controller and vice president of A.C. Allyn Stocks and Bonds Company in Chicago in which he was employed for 40 years. He served 18 years on his local Riverdale-Dolton School Board, 12 years on the Chicago Cook Company school board and 15 years on his local Methodist Church Council, Dolton, IL. ROSEN, Judith “Judy”, (nee Greenstein), born in Suvalk, Poland December 21, 1911, gave up her long and valiant battle against long-term illness September 16, 1996. Judy, the oldest of ten children, came to America as a small child and grew up in Houston and Galveston, Texas, before moving to New York. In New York, she married Jack Rosen, who preceded her in death in 1978. They had three children. She spent her long life as a social activist, battling for such causes as Social Security, the 40-hour week, civil rights and peace. Although she had not finished high school, she began a course of study that led to her attaining her BA degree at the age of 65. She moved to Tucson in 1977 where she participated in numerous volunteer activities including the American Federation of State and County Municipal Employees. She is survived by her son, Martin A. David and his wife, Sarah of Calpine, CA; daughter, Rita M. Hall and her husband, Martin of Tucson; and by her son, Dr. Ron Rosen of Denver, CO; by her grandchildren, Adam Hall, Jacob Hall and Ari Rosen; by her brothers, Isaac, Mike and Jerry Greenstein; and by sisters, Esther Baskin and Mary Jacobs all of NY, and Mickie Gelles of FL; as well as by numerous brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.
