CHAVEZ, J. Don, 50, of Tucson died Saturday, August 24, 1996. Survived by Kathy Land Chavez (wife); Mary Ann Chavez, mother; Geri Milligan, sister (John A.); Tom Land, Paul Land (Brothers-in-law); Pauline Land (Mother-in-law); Hazel Land (Sister-in-law); nieces and nephews: John M. Mr. Chavez was a member of F.O.P. Lodge #20 and Quail Valley Tennis Club. Don graduated from Morenci High School in 1964, and U of A in 1968. Served with the USAF from 1970-1974. Was with the Sheriff's Dept. for 20 years. Don was an avid tennis player, who played at many clubs in the Tucson area. POWERS, Maj. Leland L., U.S.A.F., Ret., 64, of Tucson, died suddenly at home on Monday, August 19, 1996 after 10 years of suffering. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Patricia; his mother, Mary Powers and his three brothers, Eugene, Donald and Wayne Powers. Mr. Powers was stationed at Davis-Monthan A.F.B. twice in his 23 years in the Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force he and his wife eventually settled in Tucson in 1978 where he had his own accounting business and clientele, and was a longtime associate of Adelstone Financial Services, Inc. DORAN, Clyde W., 78, of Tucson, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 1996. Mr. Doran was a Tucson resident for over 35 years. Retired as Coronado National Forest Supervisor in 1973 after 34 years with the U.S. Forest Service. STILES, Harold H., 79, died August 20, 1996. Survived by his loving wife, Gretel; his dear son, Gary, of Orange, CA; and two beloved granddaughters, Laurel and Noelle. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Signal Corps on Codes and Ciphers. Grew up in Detroit and moved to Tucson in 1947. Was Advertising Manager of Steinfeld's for several years, also Jacome's, and worked for Sinclair Advertising. Retired from TNI as Proof-reader. Served as an officer of the Tucson Advertising Club, and as Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America. A member of SAR with his Stiles family going back to 1635.Honorary member of Alpha Delta Sigma at the U of A. Sister Jane and brother Bob of Michigan also survive him. Died of an Intra-Cerebral Hemorrhage. A Memorial Service will be held at the ARIZONA MORTUARY, on Saturday, August 24 at 1:00 p.m.

RICHARDS, Reid C., Lt. Col. USAF, 61, died Tuesday, August 20, 1996 of a heart attack. He was born February 28, 1935 in Salt Lake City, UT, son of John W. Richards and Maggie Reid. He graduated from Cyprus High School in Magna, UT, obtained a BS in Finance from University of Utah in 1960 and was commissioned an Air Force Officer in April, 1961. He married Shirley L. Bailey on August 13, 1953. They raised four children. His 28 years military career included both stateside and overseas assignments. He flew a Myriad of Air Force aircraft from propeller planes to supersonic fighters, his last flying assignment being an A-10 Instructor Pilot at DMAFB, Arizona. In 1969 he flew 234combat missions in Vietnam and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for bravery under fire. Other accomplishments include graduation from the Army Command and General Staff College, Ft. Leavenworth, KS, a four year Pentagon tour, a Masters Degree from University of Michigan and distinguished graduation from the USAF Air War College in Montgomery, AL. He was a command pilot with over 4600 hours of military flight time. His personal accomplishments include Utah State Trick Water Skiing Champion, 1960 and USAF World Wide Table Tennis Champion in 1964. He was an avid tennis player and has played extensively in the Tucson Clubs for the past 18 years. He and his wife established R-2 Properties in 1989 where he has worked as a real estate broker and property manager. Survivors include: his wife, Shirley; his four children, Suzanne of Soldotna, AK, John and wife Leis of Centerville, VA, Michele and husband Robert of Eden, UT and Robert and wife Deborah of Tucson, AZ. He has three surviving brothers, Dale, Joseph and Scott; and three sisters, Gloyde, Barbara and Chloe; nine grandchildren, Ryan, Courtland, Sheridan, Travis, Meghan, Blake, Crystal, Robby and Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Jack, Robert and Gerald and two sisters, Kathryn and Margaret.
