CARR, John N., born January 23, 1940, died November 29, 1996. Born in Sangerfield, NY. Preceded in death by mother, Edith and sister, Phyllis. Survived by wife, Jeannette; father, Reginald of Plattsburgh, NY; children, Debbie of Conroe, Texas, Lori of Phoenix, AZ; brothers, Ralph of Geneseo, NY, Brian of Orlando, Florida; sisters, Margaret of Ilion, NY, Linda of Plattsburgh, NY and Sharon Ann of Rome, NY; several nieces and nephews; and many, many wonderful friends. You know who you are. John was a special person and he loved you all. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

CHASTAIN, Carey Scott Of Catalina, passed away November 29, 1996, born June 9, 1962 in Tucson. Survived by his beloved wife, Alice; daughter, Mariah of San Manuel; father, Fred of Catalina; brothers, Kent of OR, Roger of WA, Allen of NV, Gordon of Tucson, and Chris of GA; aunt, Ella Flynn of Tucson. Everyone who knew Carey, knew his love of nature and the desert, hiking, fishing, etc. Also his love of music. Carey lived in Catalina but Carey is Catalina. He was loved and will be greatly missed by everyone for his friendly smile and his helpful nature. He lived as he died helping others, selflessly. A benefit will held at the Lariat Lounge, 11666 N. Oracle Rd, in Catalina, on Thursday 5:00 p.m. I love and miss you, your wife, Alice.

HARRIS, Isabelle B., of Tucson, died November 24, 1996. Ms. Harris was born in California, Pennsylvania on September 11, 1896, a daughter of James M. and AliceHarris. She was graduated from California Normal School (later California University of Pennsylvania) in 1914 with a teaching degree. She taught in Perryopolis and Newell, Pennsylvania prior to her position as a music and English teacher in Carrick High School, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She furthered her education at many schools, including the University of Munich, Germany, University of Michigan and the University of Pittsburgh where she earned her MA degree. She retired from teaching in 1953 and settled in Tucson, Arizona where she and her life-long friend, C. Gloria Paul, established the Paul-Harris Travel Agency. Ms. Harris retired from this business in the early eighties. She is survived by a brother, James A. Harris of Frankfort, Michigan; a sister, Mildred Conaway of Milton, Florida; and 20 nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents; brothers, Joseph and George of California, Pennsylvania and Oliver of Williamsport, Pennsylvania; sisters, Eva Inks of Dawson, Pennsylvania, Margaret McCain and Mary Emelo of California, Pennsylvania. She was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in California, Pennsylvania and more recently, a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church in Tucson, Arizona. Ms. Harris was active in musical societies in the Tucson area, such as the Tucson Women’s Symphony Association and donated a pipe organ to the University of Arizona which was dedicated at Holsclaw Recital Hall on October 30, 1994. Ms. Harris was also very active in Hospitality International, now known as Tucson Council for International Visitors, which hosts international visitors, and was their Treasurer for many years. Tucson Council for International Visitors works with the U.S. Information Agency. Memorial Service will be Saturday, December 7, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 2450 E. Fort Lowell Road. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd.

MCDONALD, Helen J., 94, of Tucson, died December 3, 1996. Survived by daughter, Donaldine J. Yates; grandson, Dennis D. Yates, both of Tucson; granddaughter, Marsha K. (Alford J.) Banta of Bayfield, WI; five great-grandchildren. Mrs. McDonald was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 180. No services are planned at this time. MOORE, Lois Virginia (Kirby), 76, of Tucson, beloved wife and mother, passed away suddenly November 26, 1996. Survived by husband, Col. Milton R. Moore, Ret.; son, Stephen R. Moore, both of Tucson; sister-in-law, Mrs. Benjamin Nields, III of Rye, New York; and nephew, Benjamin Nields, IV of Washington, D.C. She was preceded in death by mother, Edith May (Tarr) Kirby and father, Chauncey Munch Kirby. Lois was born January 16, 1920 in Chicago Heights, IL and moved to Tucson as a child. She was a graduate of Tucson High in 1937 and the University of Arizona in 1941. She was a founding member of the Desert Club, a member of Kappa Alpha Theta and a member of the Junior League, and on the Board of Directors at St. Lukes Home for Women. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 5, 1996 at St. Phillips in the Hills Episcopal Church, Campbell Ave. and River Rd. at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Lukes Home, Inc. 615 E. Adams, Tucson, AZ 85705 or the charity of choice. Arrangements by ARIZONA MORTUARY.

O’BRIEN, Audrey Ann, 62, died Friday, November 29, 1996 in Tucson. Survived by husband, Robert O’Brien of Cochise, AZ; three sons, Arlus Mitchell of Tucson, Mathew Mitchell of Mesa and Kenny Crowell of San Jose, CA; two daughters, Linda Mitchell of Mesa, Roni Alger of Mitchell, Oregon; three brothers, Don Paddock of Gardenerville, Nevada, Jerry Paddock and Bob Paddock; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. PAPSON, Jeanne T., 78, died December 2, 1996. Wife of Steve Papson of Tucson; mother of Linda Manninoartis of Tucson, Steven Papson of NM and Peggy Wiggins of Tucson; sister of Katie Sicoli of NV, Mary Munoz of FL, Terry Chaimowitz of NY, John Frascella of CA and Pat Frascella of ME; four grandsons; two granddaughters; four great-grandsons; three great-granddaughters and many nieces and nephews also survive. Mass will be offered 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 5, 1996 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1800 S. Kolb Rd., with Msgr. Thomas Cahalane officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 1996 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL and friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 4 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Our Mother of Sorrows Endowment Trust Gifts, 1800 S. Kolb Rd., Tucson 85710 would be appreciated.

SCHNEIDER, Elliott Lance, 20, died November 30, 1996 in Madison, Wisconsin. A graduate of Sahuaro High School. He was a resident of Madison since June. His parents, Lance and Linda Schneider are long time residents of Tucson. Other survivors are his sister, Crystal Schneider; paternal grandparents, Chester and Evangeline Schneider of Albuquerque, NM; maternal grandparents, Jean Prickett and Richard Heilman of CA; one uncle, aunt and cousin, Wynn and Derlie Schneider and Michelle Morrison, all of Albuquerque, NM. A private memorial service for immediate family will be held Saturday, December 7, 1996 at Christ Community Church. The family request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Elliott Schneider Memorial Fund of Christ Community Church, 7801 E. Kenyon Dr., Tucson.

SMALLHOUSE, Kingston J., 92, passed away on November 30, 1996, after a lengthy illness. A native Arizonian, he was born on July 29, 1904 and attended Phoenix Union High School and the University of Arizona. In 1931 he married Margaret Bayless who predeceased him in 1967. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Morrison Smallhouse; sons, Charles (Nancy) of Oracle, AZ, John (Mary) of Redington, AZ and stepson, J. Denman (Mary) Morrison of Mercer Island, WA; grandchildren, David (Sarah) of Alamos, Sonora and Tucson, Daniel of Sacramento, CA, Mark of Los Altos, CA, Elizabeth of Scottsdale and Andrew of Redington. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Thomas and Laura of Alamos and Tucson. While attending the University, Mr. Smallhouse, played on the varsity Polo Team and was a member of Beta Chi fraternity, now Beta Theta Pi. He was a long time member of the Tucson Rodeo Parade Committee and was the Grand Marshall in 1981; he also was the most senior member of the Tucson Rotary Club. Mr. Smallhouse helped found the Triange YMCA Camp in Oracle and the Skyline Country Club in Tucson. He was the owner/manager of the Carlink Ranch in Redington, which specialized in raising high quality Hereford beef cattle. As a cattle rancher and an early member of the Arizona Cattle Growers Association, he was a pioneer of new methods in range conservation and management and, as such, he was the founder of the Redington National Resources Conservation District. His other memberships included: Tucson YMCA Board, U of A Lettermen’s and President’s Clubs, Arizona Historical Society, the Old Pueblo Club and several Tucson Medical Center fund raising committees. Services will be held on Thursday, December 5, 1996 at 3:00 p.m. at the BRING’S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott, with the Rev. Keith Kreitner officiating. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to UofA Foundation, Kingston J. Smallhouse Scholarship Fund for the benefit of the College of Agriculture, 1111 N. Cherry Ave., Tucson, AZ 85721 or your favorite charity.

TITUS, Roderick A., 84 years old, died December 3, 1996. Survived by his loving wife, Josephine 'Jody'; one brother, Tom M. Titus of Denver, CO; one nephew, Peter Titus of Conifer, CO. Memorial Services, Saturday, December 7, 1996, 1:00 p.m. at Grace St. Paul Episcopal Church, 2331 E. Adams St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Society.

VEGA, Guillermina C., 38, died Saturday, November 30, 1996. Survivors include husband; three children; four brothers; two sisters; mother and father. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, from 7:00 to 9:00 with Rosary at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 1996. Mass will be at Santa Cruz Catholic Church, November 5, 10:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to service, with Father Back officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. BATY, Jack Bruce, 79, of Tucson, died Saturday, November 30, 1996. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Baty. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ernestine; stepson, Jerry Dean Kinney; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters and two brothers. Mr. Baty was employed by the city of Tucson for 23 years and retired in 1978 as Superintendent of City Shops. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post #4903. Cryptside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 1996 at the Mausoleum of Peace, East Lawn Palms Cemetery. Friends may call at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service.

BLACKWOOD, Andrew J., Sr., 72, died November 29, 1996 in Tucson. Mr. Blackwood Sr. was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on October 21, 1924. Survived by wife, Virginia Blackwood of Tucson; one daughter, Cynthia Blackwood of Tucson; three sons, Andrew Blackwood Jr. of San Diego, CA, Paul Blackwood and James Blackwood, both of Tucson; one brother, Robert Blackwood of S. Portland, Maine; two sisters, Alice Grant of Kennebunk Port, Maine and Mercedes Wall of Englewood, FL and three grandchildren. Services for Mr. Blackwood Sr. will be Wednesday, December 4, 1996 at Christ the King, 2800 W. Ina Road, at 7:00 p.m. Arrangements by WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway, Tucson, (881-0338).

BOISSY, Bernice 'Bee', 93, resident of Tucson 28 years, died peacefully in the home November 24, 1996. Survived by loving husband, Gilbert E. Boissy; sister, Crystal Schull; nephew, James B. Schull; niece, Karen MacGee; stepdaughter, Renee Yerger. Bee requested no service be held. Her love of children would suggest memorial donations to the Ronald McDonald House.

BUITIMEA, Maria Guadalupe, 73, of Tucson, passed away November 29, 1996. Survived by mother, Marcelina V. Alvarez; daughters, Maria F. Olguin, Nellie Buitimea, Felipa (Antonio) Miranda, Florentina (Jesus) Acuna, Margaret Buitimea; sons, Basilio (Alejandra), Francisco (Rosa E. Joaquin); sisters, Josefa Valencia, Matilda A. Garcia, Angelita A. Martinez, Barbara G. Alvarez; brothers, Eduardo Alvarez, Mariano Matus; also survived by many grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 1996 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Oasis Assembly of God, 7651 E. Gila Ave. Visitation will continue at 4:30 p.m. Capilla De San Martin De Porres, 418 W. 39th, with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. at Capilla San Martin De Porres. DOWNS, Warren S., 74, of Tucson, died November 30, 1996. Survived by son, Tommy L. (Cathy) Downs of Tucson; daughter, Shirley Ann (Lambert) Trejo of OK; brother, Paul (Janice) Downs of WA; sister-in-law, Edith Downs of CA; grandchildren, Bryan (Michelle) Downs and Scott Downs both of Tucson and Chasity Gordon of OK; one great-granddaughter, Taylor Downs of Tucson. Preceded in death by parents, Charles R. and Georgia C. Downs andbrother Ray Downs. He attended the Arizona School for the Deaf and Blind, Tucson and at one time participated in the Deaf Olympics. Mr. Downs was an avid sportsman. Services, Thursday 2:00 p.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY. Interment Evergreen Cemetery.
