MARVILL-MILLER-BESON, Beulah B., died of natural causes in Tucson, AZ on Saturday, November 30, 1996. She was 87. A long time State of Michigan employee, she taught in the public school system in Pickford, Sault Ste. Marie and Bay City. Mrs.Miller-Marvill retired in 1972, married Dudley Marvill of Grand Rapids and moved to that city. Following Mr. Marvill’s death in 1977, she moved to Green Valley, AZ and was active and a founding member of the Valley Presbyterian Church. Her later years were spent in Tucson. She is survived by two children, Carl Miller of Tucson and Elizabeth Elling of Ann Arbor, MI; four grandchildren, Kirstin Elling of Chicago, Karin Elling of Atlanta, GA, C. Wade Miller of Tucson and Alura Koleas of Laguna Neigel, CA; two great-grandchildren, Kathleen and Davis Koleas of Laguna Neigel; also a host of cousins, nieces and nephews of Bay City. Funeral Service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church of Bay City, MI on Thursday, December 5 at 2:00 p.m. Burial of her ashes will follow immediately at Oak Ridge Cemetery next to her late husband, Dr. Stanley A. MOORE, Lois Virginia (Kirby), 76, of Tucson, beloved wife and mother, passed away suddenly November 26, 1996. Survived by husband, Col. Milton R. Moore, Ret.; son, Stephen R. Moore, both of Tucson; sister-in-law, Mrs. Benjamin Nields, III of Rye, New York; and nephew, Benjamin Nields, IV of Washington, D.C. She was preceded in death by mother, Edith May (Tarr) Kirby and father, Chauncey Munch Kirby. Lois was born January 16, 1920 in Chicago Heights, IL and moved to Tucson as a child. She was a graduate of Tucson High in 1937 and the University of Arizona in 1941. She was a founding member of the Desert Club, a member of Kappa Alpha Theta and a member of the Junior League, and on the Board of Directors at St. Lukes Home for Women. SCHINDEL, Dorothy H. Forsythe Jenkins, 82, of 615 Laurel Lake Dr., Tryon Estates, Columbus, NC, died Thursday, November 14, 1996 in Tyron Estates. Born in Stockbridge, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late John B. and Runa Grace Hall Hubert. She was a former member of Skyline Country Club in Tucson, Arizona. Mrs. Schindel was a member of Tryon Country Club and the Ladies Golf Association. She was also a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Tucson, Arizona. She was the widow of Carl W. Forsythe and Read Jenkins. Surviving include her husband, Philip W. Schindel; two sons, Gregory H. Forsythe of Flemington, NJ and Thomas A. Forsythe of Shreveport, LA; one daughter, Katherine A. Krauss of Cincinnati, OH; one brother, Forrest B. Hubert of Birmingham, Michigan; also six grandchildren. SIMS, Irene Maxine, 80, passed away Sunday, December 1, 1996, in Snowflake, Arizona. She was born in Clarion, Iowa and married Herbert Wendell Sims November 16, 1937. They were farmers in Iowa until 1953 when they moved to Arizona. She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She is survived by two sons, Gerald M. Sims of Snowflake and Rodney W. Sims of Tucson; seven daughters, Gwen I. Dunbar of Show Low, Christine M. Edmiston of Tucson, Rita A. Byrd of Lakeside, Peggy L. Scully of Tucson, Gail Marie Johnson of Albuquerque, NM, Deborah M. Heath of Lakeside, Wendellia J. Sullivan of Marana; one brother, Irvin Odland and one sister, Harriet Kruse, both of Iowa; 31 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren. SMALLHOUSE, Kingston J., 92, passed away on November 30, 1996, after a lengthy illness. A native Arizonan, he was born on July 29, 1904 and attended Phoenix Union High School and the University of Arizona. In 1931 he married Margaret Bayless who predeceased him in 1967. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Morrison Smallhouse; sons, Charles (Nancy) of Oracle, AZ, John (Mary) of Redington, AZ and stepson, J. Denman (Mary) Morrison of Mercer Island, WA; grandchildren, David(Sarah) of Alamos, Sonora and Tucson, Daniel of Sacramento, CA, Mark of Los Altos, CA, Elizabeth of Scottsdale and Andrew of Redington. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Thomas and Laura of Alamos and Tucson. While attending the University, Mr. Smallhouse, played on the varsity Polo Team and was a member of Beta Chi fraternity, now Beta Theta Pi. He was a long time member of the Tucson Rodeo Parade Committee and was the Grand Marshall in 1981; he also was the most senior member of the Tucson Rotary Club. Mr. Smallhouse helped found the Triange YMCA Camp in Oracle and the Skyline Country Club in Tucson. He was the owner/manager of the Carlink Ranch in Redington, which specialized in raising high quality Hereford beef cattle. As a cattle rancher and an early member of the Arizona Cattle Growers Association, he was a pioneer of new methods in range conservation and management and, as such, he was the founder of the Redington National Resources Conservation District. His other memberships included: Tucson YMCA Board, U of A Lettermen’s and President’s Clubs, Arizona Historical Society, the Old Pueblo Club and several Tucson Medical Center fund raising committees. Services will be held on Thursday, December 5, 1996 at 3:00 p.m. at the BRING’S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott, with the Rev. Keith Kreitner officiating.
