BROCK, Emilee Strauss Stevens, 76, of Tucson, died November 28, 1996. Survivors include her husband, Raymond; two sons, Mark (Kathy) Stevens of VA, Tim (Julie) Stevens of California; eight grandchildren; and one brother, Albert Strauss of Tucson. After graduating from Kent State University, Mrs. Brock taught high school in Ohio. She came to Tucson in 1945 where she taught 3rd grade at Brown School for about 13 years. Her ability to play a variety of musical instruments was inherited from her great-great-grandfather, Johann Strauss. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. @ Magee, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with prayer service at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 1, 1996. Funeral Mass will be at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church Monday, 10:00 a.m. December 2, 1996, with interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery.

DAVIS, Dorothy H., 79, passed away November 28, 1996. Survived by son Robert G. Davis and his wife Laura of Ganodo, AZ; daughter, Linda E. Wunder of Frankville, IO; seven grandchildren. Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 1, 1996 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church (In the Chapel), 8051 E. Broadway with Reverend Lew Runion officiating. FROEHLICH, Frederick B. Sr., 69, of Tucson, died November 28, 1996. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Mary; one son, Fred Jr; one daughter, Denise (James) Riehl; two grandsons, Brandon and Ryan, all of Tucson; one brother, Robert of PA. Funeral Services will be at Tanque Verde Lutheran Church, 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 2, 1996 with pastor Frank Nausin. Interment is out of state.

HEUSTIS, Harry L., 76, died November 27, 1996. A Tucson resident for 27 1/2 years. He was born in Kansas City, MO. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Tucson; sons, Robert of St. Petersburg, FL, Gene of Abbieville, SC; daughters, Michele Kelly of Pikeville, NC, Stephanie Kyle of Vail; sisters, Norma Myers of Flippen, AR, Carole Herdon of Lenexa, KS; brother, Jack of Lenexa, KS; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association. The family will be at the Heustis home Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

(Sandra) Lane, all of Tucson; sister of, Cemmie Wedge of PA; grandmother of, Richard and Lynda Gassaway, Christina Lane and Richard Lane Jr; great-grandmother of, Brittanie and Jimmy Bennett. KUTCH, Beulah H. Poland, 81, died November 16, 1996. Mother of Janet Dennison of El Cajon, CA and Olive Barry of Tucson; sister of Ted Reed of Morgantown, WV; grandmother of Jeffery and Lara Dennison of El Cajon, CA, Melissa Peacock of Rocklin, CA, Eric Barry of Reno, NV, Sheila Barry of Jackson, SC, Mark and Cynthia Barry of Tucson; great-grandmother of Luke, Justin and Kyle Peacock of Rocklin, CA, David Dennison of El Cajon, CA and Tyler Barry of Tucson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Poland; brothers, George Reed of St. Louis County, MO, James Reed of Willard, OH and Harold Reed of Tempe, AZ. Services were held at Most Holy Trinity Parish, 1300 N. PERRI, Frank J., 66, of Tucson, born November 7, 1930 in Bronx, NY and died November 29, 1996. Survived by his wife of 32 years, Jane Bradshaw Perri, of Tucson; son, Patrick A. Perri; and daughter Kathleen A. Perri, both of Tucson; sister, Connie (Franklin) Coghlan of Tucson; sister-in-law, Kaye (Rex) Brown of Napa, CA; niece, Connie (Jerry) McCollow and their children, Brian and Caitlain; nephew, Francis Coghlan; niece Cathy (Keith) Hausmann and their children, Christine Coghlan, Justin and Eric Hausmann, all of Tucson; nephews, Greg Brown of TX and Chris (Dena) Brown and their children, Celeste and Brandon Brown, all of Tucson; niece Lisa (Manny) Marrufo and their son, Julian of Houston, TX; aunt, Giovanna Puliccichio of Tucson and numerous cousins and many, many friends. Mr. Perri retired five years ago from the City of Tucson as the Concession Manager. He was Past State Deputy of the Knights of Columbus, 1976-1977 and was the Grand Knight of the Tucson 1200 Council, 1969. He was a member of Archbishop Daniel J. Gerke Assembly Fourth Degree, Knights of Columbus Past Faithful Navigator. Mr. Perri was also a member of the Tucson Breakfast Lions Club, the Edward Rhodes Chapter of Korean War Veterans, Elk’s Lodge #385, and Italian American’s Club. Mass will be offered Monday, December 2, 1996, 10:00 a.m. St. Peter and Paul Church. Interment Holy Hope Cemetery. PUTNEY, Donald L. At 10:25 a.m., November 27, exactly two months prior to his 80th birthday – Mr. Putney stepped in to the waiting arms of his Savior… 'Home' at last, and free of the pain from the cancer that had ravaged his body during the last 11 months. He leaves behind him, grieved, but grateful for having known him these many years, Millie (his wife of 60 plus years); two sons, Charles and Gary and their wives Katie and Jan; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews in NM, CA and OR; and hundreds of friends all over the Western United States… All of whom would agree that 'To know him, was to love him!' His lifelong occupational love was law enforcement, a career that began on the Albuquerque Police Force in April 1941 and ended in June 1979 when he retired from Pima County Sheriff’s Office, as the Lieutenant in charge of the Communications Department. He served a short stint as Chief of Security at Tucson International Airport and was a past President of Pima Lodge #20, Fraternal Order of Police. Mr. Putney was a longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, a former Worthy Patron of Mariposa Chapter 31, Order of the Eastern Star; a Member of Sabbar Shrine; and a member of Aaron Lodge #49; Scottish Rite – York Rite, which awarded him his 50 year hat and certificate earlier this year.

BROWN, Candice Leigh, 33, of Tucson, passed away at home on Friday, November 22, 1996, after a determined and spirited dance with a rare form of kidney cancer. She died as she lived–with extraordinary grace, courage, strength, and dignity. A remarkably and diversely talented dancer, novelist, and teacher, she inspired and enriched us with her physical eloquence, her passionate artistry, her emotional honesty, and her mercurial intellect. To every member of her family and to each of her friends, students, colleagues, and readers, she will always be a beautiful and precious gift, a treasure of the heart we carry with us everywhere. When her partner was life, you could not tell the dancer from the dance; when her partner was death, she turned and turned until there was nowhere left to turn–and then she cracked the ceiling with her leap. She is survived by her devoted husband, Bill Epstein of Tucson; her beloved mother, Mae Maxine Brown and her mother’s faithful companion, Frank Nassoiy, both of Tucson; her two loving stepdaughters, Jessica Epstein of Flagstaff and Rebecca Epstein of Tucson and Hamilton, NY; her cherished in-laws, Judith and Albert Grollman of Rockville, MD and Elena and Benjamin Epstein of Washington, DC; and her two wonderful fat cats, Rio and Huck, also of Tucson. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society. A Funeral Service celebrating Candice Leigh Brown’s life will be held Saturday, November 30, 1:30 p.m. at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2545 N. Tucson Blvd. (1 1/2 blocks north of Grant). Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

EDINGTON, Lorayn M., 76, died November 27, 1996. Wife of John A. Edington of Tucson; mother of Kathi M. (Jim) Beals of Tucson; grandmother of Jennifer M. Beals and Jeffrey J. Beals, both of Tucson; great-grandmother of Amanda L., John M. and Ashlee K. Dorame, all of Tucson. She was a veteran of WWII Womens Air Corp. To my wife, mother and our gommie, we love you and you will be missed dearly and we’ll see you when we get there, love your family. LIVINGSTON, Fred 'Elmo', 78, went to heaven November 26, 1996. Born December 30, 1917 in Miami, Arizona. A resident of Tucson for 28 years he moved to J-6 Ranchettes near Benson 10 years ago.Survived by his wife of 41 years, Bernice; daughter and family, Debbie and Jim Sides, Sara, Jimmy, Amber and Jessica of San Diego; son and family, Fred 'Randy' and Sherrie Livingston and Kevin of Tucson; sister, Noree Livingston. Services will be held Saturday, November 30 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Benson, 120 West 6th Street. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Gospel Rescue Mission, P.O. CARLQUIST, Georgia S., 92, died November 25, 1996 in Green Valley, Ariz. She was born near Columbus, Ohio and had been a resident of Tubac, Ariz. since 1969. Mrs. Carlquist was an active supporter of the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson. She is survived by her two daughters, Georgia Carlquist of New Hampshire and Greta Rogers of Tempe, Ariz., as well as nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. No service is planned.

EGGERS, Henry Edward, passed away Wednesday morning, November 27, 1996. He was born in Blue Grass, Iowa in 1918. A resident of Tucson for 49 years, moving here after serving in the U.S. Army in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and being honorably discharged with two overseas service ribbons. He retired in 1984. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Mary M. Eggers. Survived by daughters, Patricia of Phoenix, Kay and husband Raymond of Sacramento; grandchildren, Karen, Kevin, Phillip, Denise, Charise, Brian and Lisa; great-grandchildren, Leslie, Heather, David, Jerica and Kenneth; one brother and two sisters. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.Friday, November 29 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave. Graveside Service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at South Lawn Cemetery.

FINSAND, Orville T., 74, passed away November 26, 1996. He was survived by his wife of 48 years, Avis M. Finsand; sons, Mark, Neil and Eric Finsand; grandchildren, Heidi, Kierst, Maren, Simon and Andrew; sister, Harriet Peterson. GRANT, Nellie Virginia, 74, died November 24, 1996. Born June 19, 1922 in Norfolk, VA. Virginia, a Tucson resident since 1958 and an avid Wildcat basketball fan since 1972. Survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Wayne; sons, Roger (Beth) Grant and Gary Grant; grandchildren, Julie and Lori Grant, all of Tucson. Preceded in death by her sister, Marguerite Bogard Rose. Virginia’s wish of no funeral services is being honored. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Tucson.

HALE, John Frederick, Maj. USAF Ret., 76, passed away November 13, 1996 after a four year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Major Hale served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. He also worked for and retired from the State of Arizona, Department of Economic Security. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Maxine; by daughters, Dona (Gordon) Ritchie of CA and Susan French of Tucson; grandchildren, Jason and Alison Ritchie of CA, Damien Hale-Parshall and Jessica French of Tucson. Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 30, 1996 at Christ Church United Methodist, 655 N. Craycroft Road., Rev. Thomas E. Kiracofe officiating. JONES, William Arthur 'Bill', 98, of Wellton, AZ, formerly of Pomerene, died November 23, 1996 in Wellton, AZ. He was born on December 20, 1898 in Mexico to Arthur and Emma Jones. He was a Sheriff and a member of the LDS Church. Survivors include two sons, Floyd Jones of Wellton, AZ and C.R. 'Bob' Jones of Lakeside, CA; five daughters, Merle Wright of Tucson, Lena May DeVenney of Las Cruces, NM, Evelyn Summerford of Lakeside, CA, Vivian Reyes of Huntington Beach, CA; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at LDS Church, St. David Stake Center in Benson, AZ, Friday, November 29, 1996 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. where services will be held Friday, November 29, 1996 at 9:30 a.m., with Bishop Randall Welker of Pomerene Ward officiating. Deposition at Pomerene Cemetery. Arrangements by RICHARDSON’S MORTUARY, Benson.

KACIAK, Apolonia, 98, passed away November 26, 1996. Preceded in death by her husband and all her siblings and friends.
