PATZMAN, Kenneth Jester
December 25, 1909 – November 8, 1996
Ken Patzman’s 'great heart' finally gave out at age 86. Ken graduated from the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania in 1932 and went into the life insurance business. He was one of the first to earn the degree of Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) in 1939, and opened a life insurance agency in Tucson in 1946. He was a pioneer in the field of estate planning and was a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Round Table.
He was known as a 'helper' to clients and had a commitment to helping families develop a financially secure future. In the early 50's he developed a lifelong love of unusual cars and was often seen around Tucson in a red 1950 MG-TD which had a spare tire cover that said: 'When you see me don’t think insurance…but when you think of insurance see me.' One of his favorite sayings was: 'The harder I work, the luckier I get.'
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathryn (Kate); and his two sons who followed him into the insurance field. John is a Certified Financial Planner and is President of WEALTH RESCue Strategies of Tucson and La Jolla. Steve is Corporate Actuary and Vice President of USAA Life Insurance Company in San Antonio.
Ken leaves a legacy of six grandchildren: Lieutenant Commander Mark Patzman of Philadelphia, Anna Patzman of San Diego, Gwynne Patzman of Los Angeles, Rick and Marlies Patzman and Heather McAvoy, all of Boston. He is also survived by a brother, Dean of Kansas City. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Marks Presbyterian Church on Friday the 15th at 4:00 p.m. The family suggests donations to your favorite charity in lieu of flowers.

WACHNER, Roy A., 65, of Tucson, died November 12, 1996. He was a retired Air Force Staff Sgt. He is survived by beloved wife of 27 years, Lois; sons, Danny G. (Mary) and Terry (Dee Dee) Johnson; daughter, Malinda Barry; and grandchildren, Chip (Carol), Jill (Eddie), Nomi, Nicole, Sean, Christopher, Michael and Meghan. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave.(@ Magee) from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 1996. Funeral Services will be held at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 7570 N. Thornydale Rd. at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 15, 1996 with Pastor Daniel Hodgson officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Cemetery.

COCHRAN, Alice M., 82, a 74 year resident of Tucson, passed away November 10, 1996. Born April 25, 1914 in Magdalena, Sonora, Mexico. She is survived by her daughters, Sally, Irene and Lynnette; son, Walter; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 1996 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave.Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Cathedral. Burial will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. The family requests any donations, in memory of Alice, be made to the St. Augustine Cathedral Maintenance Fund.

CONTRERAS, Carlos M., 72, of Tucson, passed away November 10, 1996. Preceded in death by parents, Alfonso R. and Maria M. Contreras. Survived by wife, Lily A. Contreras; daughters, Mary (Henry) LaRoque, JoAnn Contreras, Lydia (Frank) Carranza, Linda (Ken) Wise; son, Carlos A. (Lucy) Contreras; sisters, Evelyn Ortiz, Josie Montano, Dolores Franco; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 15, 1996 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, South Chapel, 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered Saturday, November 16 at 10:00 a.m. at Santa Cruz Church. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Catholic Churches of Our Lady Queen of All Saints and Santa Cruz. Arrangements by TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.

FRISINGER, Mitchell Robert, born December 14, 1992, went to be with Jesus, November 10, 1996. An angel who was with us for a short time but who brought joy and gladness to each of us who loved him. We will miss your bright smile and loving heart but won’t say good-bye, just so long because we’ll all be together again someday. Beloved son of Neal and Stacey Frisinger; brother of Aaron and Carissa; grandson of Rob and Linda Frisinger, Bob and Janet Mason, John and Diane Rognlien; great-grandson of Hulda Biel, Vi Jones, Lucille Mason, Anna Rognlien; aunts and uncles, Ron and Suzanne, Alan and Tammi, Joe and Jan, Ken and Candace, Greg and Glynn, Jerry and Sharon, Brian, Bernie and Jeanette, Laddie and Noni, Judy, Steve and Barbara, Don and Dorene and many loved cousins. GILDEA, Bettie I., 73, of Tucson, died November 11, 1996. Survived by daughters, Kathleen Gildea, Connie Gillis and Elaine Powell; sons, James A. Gildea, Daniel M. Gildea and Robert C. Gildea; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Private family services were held. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY.

GORDON, Coyle Thomas, 81, a Tucson resident since 1939, passed away November 11, 1996. Born August 25, 1915 in Pike, Oklahoma. Mr. Gordon retired from Southern Pacific Railroad after 38 years of employment. He was also a Navy Veteran of World War II and an active member of the Southern Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Ruth; sons, Michael (Sandra) and David (Georgetta) Gordon; stepchildren, Suzette and Kurtis Jackson; grandchildren, Lorraine, Michelle, Kelli, Kristine, Jennifer and Shannon; step-grandchildren, Kelsey and Jennifer; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Britanie. Predeceased by his his first wife of 52 years, Georgia Odell Gorden. A Visitation will be held Thursday, November 14, 1996 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave. Funeral Service 1:00 p.m. Friday at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, Pastor Kenneth Nickell and Dr. Mitchell Wright officiating. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery. HANSEN, Margarita, our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, passed away on November 2, 1996 after several months of illness.Margarita is remembered by family and friends around the world for her loving and caring personality. A Funeral Service was held in Switzerland where Margarita spent her last weeks in peace and quiet. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Phillips in the Hills Church, 4440 N. HASTERT, Mildred E., 78, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 1996 at Tucson General Hospital. Memorial Service pending at American Evangelical Lutheran Church, 623-3661.

LACY, Ethelyn, 85, homemaker, passed away Saturday, November 9, 1996 after a brief residency at Park Villa Convalescent Center. Mrs. Lacy was born on April 11, 1911 to Jerry and Mary Elizabeth (nee Bonner) Moore in Kaufman, Texas. She moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1939. On November 28, 1942, she married N. L. 'Mike' Lacy and shared a loving household with him until he passed away on July 16, 1968. Mrs. Lacy was a long time member of Phillips Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, where she served many years as stewardess and chairperson of the the board of stewardesses. Until the recent past, she was a member of Pilgrim Rest Temple 377, I.B.P.O.E.W. and of the Order of Eastern Star, PHA. Surviving Mrs. Lacy are: daughter, Brenda (Rev. Jarvis) Johnson and grandson, William Lee Jarvis Johnson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughter, Irene Middleton of Dallas, Texas and granddaughters, Beverly, Delores and Marsha Kay; sister, Thelma (William) Gross; and brother, Jerry (Mabel) Moore II, both of Tucson, Arizona; nephews, Harold Lewis of Los Angeles, California, Jerry Moore III of Phoenix, Arizona and David Moore of Augusta, Georgia; nieces, Cheryl (Harvey) Eddington and Lynn (James) Hanson, both of Bakersfield, California; grandson, Kevin Johnson of Tucson, Arizona; esteemed family, Alice Smith, Frank Morris, Patsy Waterfall and Jane Hewitt Heffleman, all of Tucson, Arizona; 10 great-grandchildren and other family and friends. MACHOLD, Jean E., 69, of Tucson, died Sunday, November 10, 1996. Jean Machold was the former owner of Lazy K Bar Guest Ranch. Beloved mother and grandmother of sons, Robert and Richard; daughters, Nancy (Kenneth) Peasley and Lindsay (Daniel) Manzo; grandchildren, Kevin, Kyle and Allison Peasley and Daniel, Nicholas and Torrey Manzo; brother, Harry (June) Harbeck of NY, and other loving family and friends. Memorial Services will be held Friday, November 15 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, 8650 N. Shannon Rd., at 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel with Father Robert Tamminga officiating. MARLOW, Herman F., 87, born February 13, 1909 in Herrin, IL, died November 10, 1996. Survived by Jennie, his wife of 61 years; daughters, Dee Sommer and Sr.Joanne Marlow, D.C.; son, H. F. Marlow, Jr.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Memorial Mass at St. Pius X Church on Friday, November 15, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Monastery, St. David, AZ 85630.

MILES, Vera Adabel, 77, died November 12, 1996. Mother of Margaret (Morris) Eisenhut of FL, Elizabeth (David) Gamble of Tucson and John (Jane) Miles of AR; sister of Marilyn (Paul) Buehrer of WA and Lyle (Betty) Gordon of CA; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Service held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 1996 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL with Pastor Russell Marshall officiating. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery. NORRGARD, Donald L., 32, of Tucson, died November 11, 1996. Son of Connie Jacoby and Larry D. Norrgard; brother of Duane M. Norrgard, Debra A. Smith; grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth M. McLay and Pearl M. Norrgard, all of Tucson. Mass at Sacred Heart Church, Friday November 15, at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Donald L. BUSACKER, Carl William. Born June 11, 1911 in Milwaukee, at rest on November 3, 1996 in Tucson. Beloved husband of late Viola, wife of 60 years. Carl and Vi moved their family to Tucson in 1950. Founder of Sanitary Supply Company, Inc. in 1955, Carl was named Arizona’s Boss of the Year in 1964. He was a member of the Tucson Elks Lodge and held membership number 49 in the Executive Association of Tucson. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, golf and was an avid tennis and card player into his final year of life. Loving father of Bill Busacker of Denver and Barbara of San Pedro, CA; dear grandfather of Lori Lawrence and great-grandfather of Beau and Nicholas Lawrence of Freemont, CA. Carl is also survived by two of five sisters, Betty Wallace of Palmyra, WI and Rosalen Lehman of Tucson and many nieces and nephews. All will miss him greatly. Friends are invited to join family at Memorial Services, Sunday, November 24, at 3:00 p.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Campbell at Helen, Tucson.
