Vida R. LeGate

Vida R. LeGate, 79, passed away January 6, 2002 in Yuma, AZ. She was born in DeQueen, AR on November 20, 1922. She was a retired waitress and a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include four children, 19 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.

She is preceded indeath by her ex-husband, Hubert D. Bugg; husband, Robert N. LeGate and son, Hubert D. Bugg III.

Graveside services will be held on January 11, 2002 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Bill Watkins officiating. Desert Lawn Memorial Park will be her final resting place.

Pallbearers will be James Penny, Raymond Woolsey, Ronnie Swinehart, Sr, Harold Kirchner, Gary Montgomery and Buster Montgomery.

Memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Yuma, 1824 S. 8th Ave., Yuma.

Vida was a loving mother, grandmother and was loved by many.She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Victoria Marta Butler

Victoria Marta Butler, 74 a resident of Yuma for six years died January 7, 2002 at Yuma Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Butler was born in Brazil on November 2, 1927.

She is survived by her husband: Erich A., Children James Donaldson, Hans Butler, Helga Bowers, and Helmut Butler.;Five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by a grandson: Kurt Butler.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2002 at 2:00 pm at Sunset Vista Funeral Home, 11357 E. 40th St.

A private cremation has taken place.

Arrangements by Sunset Vista Funeral Home, Cemetery and Crematory.

Antonia “Toni” Maria Badilla

Antonia “Toni” Maria Badilla, passed away January 4, 2002 in Riverside, CA. She was born January 10, 1954 in Yuma, AZ.

Toni was a longtime Yuma resident before moving to Riverside, CA a few years ago. She was a Child Care Provider for the Riverside Community College. Survivors include her mother Elisa Garcia, of Riverside, CA; children: Pilar Badilla (Arthur), of Riverside, CA. Billy Badilla (Ivanna), of Yuma, AZ, John Badilla (Jezahel), of Riverside, CA; brother: Carlitos; sisters: Tina, Mary, Stella, Marlene and five grandchildren, all of Riverside, CA.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 11, 2002 at 11am in Riverside, CA. Arrangements are being handled by Arlington Mortuary in Riverside, CA.

Sally Ann Reynolds

Sally Ann Reynolds, 43 of Yuma, passed away on January 12, 2002 at Home.She was born in Mojave, CA on January 1, 1959.

Sally was the owner of “Sassy Sally’s” and was a member of the Sovereign Grace Baptist Church.

Sally is survived by her husband: Mark; daughters: Abby, Casey and Bailey; Mother: Barbara Mathias; Sister: Peg Hampton and Brother: John Mathias; Mother and Father-in-law: Judy and Steve Reynolds and numerous relatives.

She was preceded in death by her father Robert O. Mathias

Visitation will be at Johnson Mortuary on Tuesday, January 15, 2002 from 5:00 pm. to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, January 16, 2002 at 10:00 am at Johnson Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations be made to either Crossroads Mission, Hospice of Yuma or the Sally Reynolds Foundation at 3140 Winsor Ave., Yuma, AZ 85364.

Jimmy Robin Fuher

Jimmy Robin Fuher, passed away on Friday afternoon, January 11, 2002 at his home with his family at his side. He was born October 14, 1927 in Harrisonburg, Virginia to Frank William Fuher and Bernice Thomason Fuher.

He married his wife Helen, May 20, 1950. They made their home in Montana and Idaho until she passed away in 1985. He and Margaret Bond of Caldwell, Idaho were united in marriage June 21, 1986.

Jim worked in the meat industry. Upon retiring he and Margaret spent years traveling. They made their home in Yuma in 1997. Jimmy was an active member of the Church of Christ his entire life. Because of his friendly and outgoing nature Jimmy never knew a stranger. Jimmy loved the outdoor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and walking. Jimmy will be remembered as a faithful and loving husband, and outstanding Dad and Grandad.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret, One brother, One sister, 5 daughters, One son and 22 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Tommy, his wife Helen, daughters Christine Steinocker and Barbara Harris, and a grandson, Larry Vadheim.

Memorial services will be held at the Central Church of Christ Tuesday, January 15, 2002 at 11:00 a.m.

The family requests memorials be made to the Central Church of Christ or Hospice of Yuma. Cremation by Yuma Mortuary.

Nell (Nellie) Rose Tallberg

Nell (Nellie) Rose Tallberg exited this crazy world peacefully in Sedona, AZ on January 9, 2002 at the age of 80.

Nell’s professional achievements include over 30 years of outstanding service for the US Government (Civil Service) for which she received numerous awards for excellence.

Mrs. Tallberg’s career began at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. with stints at both the Marine Corps. Air Station and the Yuma Proving Ground in Yuma, AZ from 1958 to 1972. She put an exclamation on her career in 1989 with 17 dedicated years at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Phoenix. Nell was well known for her ability on the good old typewriter where she could type 120 words a minute with no errors.

Nell was born in Gastonia, N.C. on August 20, 1921. Her parents, Eli Dixon and Ella Humphries were hard-working farmers. After graduating from Gastonia High School, Nell married Joseph Roberts, and the two of them conceived Joseph Boxley Roberts II, who has his own law practice in Gastonia, N.C. Joe and his wife Linda have 2 children, Scott and Allison.

In 1944, Nell who was divorced from her first husband, married Martin Tallberg. Their marriage lasted 50 years until Martin’s death in 1994. Nell and Marty produced 2 sons, Edwin Harrison and Harry Keith. Ed presently is living in Wildwood, Illinois and is married to the former Nancy Savel. Ed and Nancy have 2 children, Stacy and Jon. Harry Keith currently resides in Sedona, AZ.

In summary, Nellie Rose Tallberg thought of others first, was blessed with an incredible work ethic, and despite numerous health problems in the last 10 years, maintained a wonderful attitude towards life! Love you Mom!

Robert A. Hart

Robert A. Hart, 45, died January 13, 2002 at Thunderbird Samaritan Hospital in Glendale, AZ. Robert was born August 11, 1956 in East St. Louis, Illinois. He a was Security Guard for Pinkerton Security in Phoenix.

Robert is survived by his wife: Andresa; son: Jonathan Patrick; his parents: Harry T. & Geraldine Hart; sisters: Linda Schillebeer and Dorothy (Danny) Wormwood; brother: Harry H. (Cathy) Hart; 6 nephews, 2 nieces, 3 aunts and 1 uncle.

Funeral services will be held at Sunset Vista Funeral Home, 11357 E. 40th St. on Friday, January 18, 2002 at 1pm. Pastor Doug McAllister of Community Christian Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Vista Cemetery.

Donald Wade Johnson

Donald Wade Johnson, 75, of Yuma, AZ, passed away January 12, 2002. He was born and raised in Peoria, Illinois and had been a resident of Arizona for 45 years.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Pauline; daughter: Donna; two sisters, two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was a kind and generous man with a great sense of humor. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Services will be held Thursday, January 17, 2002 at 2pm at Kammann Mortuary, 795 W. 28th St. Followed by a ceremony at American Legion Post #19 at 3pm.

In Loving Memory of Valentine Guerrero Jr.

Mr. Valentine Guerrero Jr., 43, passed away January 15, 2002 in Yuma, Arizona. He was born September 30, 1958 in El Centro, CA. Survivors include his wife Terry, daughters Ragina, Sasha,Tawnie and grandchildren Kyler and Kamea. Services to be announced.

Edward “Cachora” Ochoa

Edward “Cachora” Ochoa, 68, died January 16, 2002 in Needles, CA.He was born March 25, 1933 in Yuma, CA Edward was a resident of Havasu Landing, CA for 21 years.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lydia Ochoa, of Havasu Lake, CA; mother: Aurelia Ochoa, of Yuma, AZ; brothers: Gilbert Ochoa, of Hacienda Heights, CA and Raul Ochoa, of Yuma, AZ; sisters: Amelia Garcia, of Yuma, AZ and Helen Chaparro, of Yuma, AZ; sons: Edward (Butch) Ochoa, Michael Vincent Ochoa, Tommie Ochoa, all of Havasu Lake, CA, Steven Ochoa, of San Diego, CA; daughter: Grace (Anna) Ochoa, of Havasu Lake, CA; 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Today, January 19, 2002 at 1pm at The Havasu Landing Gymnasium. Brother Galady of Needles Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses will officiate.

Donald Wayne Marble

Donald Wayne Marble,age 79, died January 16, 2002, in Seattle, Washington, of kidney cancer.

Don was born January 11, 1923, in North Platte, Nebraska, was aWorld War II veteran and graduated with a degree in veterinary medicine from Washington State University.

Most of his professional life, hetaught and did research at the University of Nevada-Reno. including a year of sabbatical lin Puno, Peru. He researched medications to combat parasites andanaplasmosis, a disease ofcattle and was proud of his many students and their accomplishments.

He retired in 1983 after 27 years with the university and ran a veterinary clinic in Sparks, Nevada. He also flew with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Squadron in Reno, Nevada. Most recently he enjoyed the sunshine, flying his Mooney, and the companionship of many wonderful friends in Yuma, where he was active in the Gila Mountain United Methodist Church and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity.

He is survived by five children; daughter Dawn Reeder, sons Bill Marble and Jere Marble, daughter Dollie Marble and son Toby Marble. His wife, Pattye Fay (Chaffee) Marble, preceded him in death. He is also survived by four sisters and a brother. Another brother preceded him in death. Also surviving him are five grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your local Habitat for Humanity or Humane Society. Don enjoyed a life full of family, hard work, fun and love and will be dearly missed. Wishing you blue skies, Don.

Betty Jean Lightfoot

Betty Jean Lightfoot, 47, passed away January 11, 2002 in Phoenix, AZ. She was born August 29, 1954 in Yuma, AZ. Visitation will be held on Friday January 18, 2001 at Gortarez Funeral Home 1505 E. McDowell Rd. from 5-8 p.m.. Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 19, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at Heights Church of God in Christ located at 97 W. Oakland St. Chandler, AZ.
