SHISSLAK, Eleanor L., 83, died October 30, 1996. Beloved, devoted and cherished mother and grandmother. Born in Whiting, Indiana in 1913 and a Tucson resident since 1954. She was an Administrator of Biological Sciences at the U of A for 20 years. After retirement, she continued her education and was currently a junior at the U of A with a triple major. She was most proud of her two children, Edward Shisslak of Bisbee, AZ, a high school teacher and coach, and Catherine Shisslak of Tucson, AZ, a professor at the U of A College of Medicine. The light of her life were her three grandchildren, Zachary, 17, Erik, 14 and Sara Shisslak, 12 of Bisbee, AZ. She is also survived by her loving daughters-in-law, Rosa Cotayo of Tucson and Ann Littrell of Bisbee. She will be joined in heaven with her loving husband, Edward Shisslak, Sr. who preceded her in death. Eleanor loved learning and inspired many to pursue educational goals, she served as a role model to young and old. Carmelita was born on November 11, 1902 in Boston, Mass and came to Tucson, AZ in 1941. GANNAN, Henry Roscoe, 'Hank', Maj., USMC, Ret., 63, of Tucson, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 27, 1996.Beloved husband of Jackie; loving father of Matthew Scott Gannan, Kevin Wade Gannan, and Laura Lynn Ann Gannan. In 1954, Mr. Gannan graduated from Austin Peay University in Clarksville, TN, and was commissioned in the USMC. He retired from the Marine Corps in 1974 and moved to Tucson to attend the University of Arizona Law School. He graduated with his Law degree in 1977 and has since been a practicing attorney in Tucson. He is a member of the Arizona Bar and the California Bar. IVERSON, Marcie Bree, our beloved angel, age 17, died Sunday, October 27, 1996. Marcie was a senior at Sahuaro High School. Born in Mankato, MN, she and her family moved to Tucson, AZ in 1986. Marcie will be remembered for her beautiful smile, the laughter and joy she inspired in others, and her incredible spirit. Marcie loved the mountains and hiking with her father. She also enjoyed collecting celestial items: angels, suns, stars and moons, as well as spending time with her friends. She was a member of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls, the Jesse Owens Synchronized Swim Team, and was active in the American Sign Language class at Sahuaro High School. Marcie is survived by her parents, Mike and Mary Iverson of Tucson; her sister, Melissa of Tucson; grandparents, Gene and Jo Iverson of Granada Hills, CA, Oris and Marian Ostgarden of Mankato, MN; as well as 16 aunts and uncles and many cousins and friends. LUM, Donald Charles, Retired Vice-President and Director of Pfizer Inc., died Saturday, October 26, 1996 at his home in Tucson. He was 75. A native New Yorker, Donald C. Lum earned his BA from Queens College in 1942. He joined Charles Pfizer and Company in 1946 after earning a Bronze Star as a Major in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. Mr. Lum went on to serve Pfizer in Personnel during its expansion from a single plant company to a multinational corporation. He pioneered the practices of flex-time and job-sharing in the American workplace. His ideals of loyalty, integrity and character found voice in his numerous endeavors apart from Pfizer. Donald Lum was past President of the NY Personnel Management Association, the Harvard Advanced Management Association of NY, the Brooklyn Management Club and the Personnel Section of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association. He was Chairman of the Board of Clark Garden in Albertson, NY and a Trustee of Davis and Elkins College in West Virginia and Garden City Community Church in Garden City, NY where he resided for 34 years. In Tucson, he was elected Republican Precinct Committeeman in 1992 and was President of the Tucson Natural History Club. He is survived by his wife, Marian; daughter, Susan Lum-Creitz (William); sons, Peter, Donald (Patricia), Christopher Emery (Sandra) and Charles Mitchell, as well as six grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at Rincon Congregational Church, 122 N. Craycroft Road, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 1996. MULLER, Mary Clay, formerly of Philadelphia, was born December 8, 1917 in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Roberts Clay, died Sunday, October 27, 1996 in Tucson, AZ. She is survived by sons, Richard Clay Muller and Samuel Clark Muller; grandchildren, Edward N. Muller, Sarah Dick, and Alexandra Muller; brothers, Roberts Clay, George Clay, and Langdon Clay. WRIGHT, Elsa Brockman Hanna, 88, born September 17, 1908, died October 28, 1996. Survived by daughter, Lilian (Hector) Manciet of Tucson; and son, Edward 'Waggo'(Evelyn) Hanna of Gilbert, AZ; grandmother of Lorraine Manciet, Katie (Patrick) Frey, Patty (Allen) Burkhart, Larry (Melissa) Manciet, Eddie (Janiece) Manciet, Lanny (Jim) Trumble, Louis Hanna, Andy (Samantha) Hanna and Gail Hanna; and great-grandmother of 18. Mrs. Wright was a lifelong Arizonan, graduating from Florence Union High School and receiving bachelor and masters degrees from the University of Arizona. She had a long career which included teaching English and Spanish and working in the City of Tucson Clerk’s office before serving as Clerk of the Pima County Board of Supervisors for 19 years prior to her retirement in 1975. Mrs. Wright had a great appreciation of nature, books and art. She was much loved and will be truly missed. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to the American Heart Association.
