PINKERTON, Leonard 'Cotton' Alton, went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, October 19, 1996. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Verle L. Pinkerton of Tucson, one son, Larry Pinkerton (Sandra) of Tucson, three daughters, Janice Pinkerton (Gary McCullough) of Glendale, Brenda Pinkerton of Phoenix, and Rose Clayton (Alan) of Tucson. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren Chris and Mike McCullough of Phoenix, Jennifer Egan (Joey) of Tucson, Justin Pinkerton of Tucson, Shaun and Lisa Clayton of Tucson, and Kimberly Futterman of Phoenix, and one Great Grandchild, Ashley M. Egan. Mr. Pinkerton was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on February 22, 1922 and is preceded in death by his parents, John H. Pinkerton and Julia M. Pinkerton (Montgomery), as well as one grandchild Jason A. Pinkerton of Tucson. He is also survived by three brothers Rowe Pinkerton (Sarah), Clyde Pinkerton (Ruth) and Charles Pinkerton (Louise) of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, as well as numerous nieces and nephews throughout Missouri. He is best remembered for his years of service with the Civil Service (30 years) and the US Immigration Naturalization of Border Patrol (13 years). Mr. Pinkerton is also a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Army in 13 major battles and received the designated Purple Heart for his act of bravery in the war. We wish to thank the staff of the Intensive Care Unit at Tucson Medical Center for their outstanding care and dedication to 'Cotton' during his stay at TMC. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 1996 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Private Interment will be at East Lawn Palms Cemetery.

STODDARD, Helen Ethel, 84, died October 17, 1996. Mother of Arla Cumbie of Tucson and David Stoddard of Green Valley; sister of Mazel Showalter of Patagonia; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband Wesley Stoddard and grandson Daren Cumbie. Funeral Service 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, 1996 at Sahuaro Ward, LDS Church, 6901 E. Kenyon, with Bishop Craig Sanford conducting. Interment to follow at TMP, East Lawn. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 21 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway; also one hour before service time at Church.

TAYLOR, Mae F., 72, born in Riverton, Indiana, passed away October 18, 1996. She was a long time Tucson resident, member of The Orders of the Amaranth and the Eastern Star, and a retiree of Hughes Aircraft. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by children, Tom (Teri), John (Jean), Floyd (Sue) of Tucson and Lloyd (Debbie) of Mesa; and grandchildren, Amanda, Jessica, Laura, Thomas, Curtis, Kristopher, Justin, Ashley and Timothy; sister, Betty Rose Lambeth; and brother, Harold Arnett, of Sullivan Co., IN. A Memorial Service will be conducted Monday, October 21, 1996 at 1:00 p.m. at the ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

ALLEN, Leota (Grandma), died October 3, 1996 at Manor Care. Survived by daughters, Margie (Rhea) Hinton, Rita Burkhead; grandchildren, Barry (Susan), Carol and Greg Hinton; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Kelsey and Taylor Hinton, Kimberly and Aaron Laine; and great-great-granddaughter, Monique. Also one brother, Norbin (Louise) Webb of Artesia, NM. She was a charter member of both First and Central Church of the Nazarene. A young, sweet 94 year old with vitality and spirit. She enjoyed the fellowship of Congregate Meals. Memorial Service, 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 25, at Central Church of the Nazarene, 404 S.Columbus Ave. with Rev. Mark Harmon officiating.

BROWN, Lawrence C., 73, of Tucson, passed away October 15, 1996. Survived by wife, Nota Brown of Tucson; children, Lillie Murray, Tony C. Brown, Fred Rodgers, and Jennie Mae Brown, all of Tucson, Lewis Rodgers of Michigan and Marvin Brown of Texas. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 22, 1996 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 850 N. 11th Ave, with the Rev. Victor Wilson Officiating. Visitation will be Monday, October 21, 1996 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at ARIZONA MORTUARY, 7 E. University Blvd. Interment in South Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements by ARIZONA MORTUARY.

BURKE, Ronald M., 44, born in Wyandotte, Michigan, died October 17, 1996 in Tucson, AZ. Loving companion and husband of Christine Casey; son of Edward and Agnes Burke; brother of Richard E. (Christine Bastow) Burke of East Lansing, MI, Kathleen and Nancy Burke, both of Southgate, MI; aunts, uncles and many dear friends also survive. Ron lived the last 16 years in Arizona where he found contentment and satisfaction. Ron courageously battled his short illness and was an inspiration to all who had contact with him. Mass will be offered 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 21 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 7651 E. Pima. Burial in Holy Hope Cemetery. CONGOS, Agnes P., 92, a resident of Tucson, died October 17, 1996. Preceded in death by her husband, Carl F. Congos.Survived by sister, Catherine Dean; nephews, Leslie R. and James J. Dean, all of New Hartford, NY. Agnes was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. Graveside Service 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 21, at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 S. Park Ave., with Rev. GURGEVICH, Steve R., a longtime resident of Tucson, died Friday, October 18, 1996 at Manor Care Nursing Home, after battling a lengthy illness. He was 76 years old. His wife of 54 years, Mary, was at his bedside as were other members of the immediate family. Born in Sela Cacavica, Bosnia-Herzegovina on April 16, 1920, Mr. Gurgevich came to the United States at age 14, and served as a Technical Sergeant with the US Army Air Corps in North Africa and Europe from 1942 to 1945. He retired from Inland Steel Company of East Chicago, Ind in 1984, then moved to Tucson where he worked as a school crossing guard. He was a member of the Glen Park Masonic Lodge #732 in Gary, Ind, a life member of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in Merrillville, Ind, and a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Tucson. In addition to his wife Mary, Mr. Gurgevich is survived by a daughter, Pamela Ann Gurgevich of AnnArbor, Mich; a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Steven Gurgevich and Jody Gurgevich of Tucson; a granddaughter and her husband, Dr. Elise Ann Gurgevich and Donald Butts of Bellefonte, PA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Velmir and Sue Gurgevich of Schereville, Ind, and Nick and Maggie Gurgevich of Crown Point, Ind; a sister-in-law, Helen Ivancevich of Tucson; and numerous nephews and nieces. A visitation will be held at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd., on Saturday, October 19, 1996 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Trisayion Service at 6:30 p.m. Cryptside Services will be held at the Mausoleum of Peace in East Lawn Palms Cemetery on Sunday, October 20, 1996 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that he be honored in donations, in his name to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. A Memorial Social gathering to be held after church services will be scheduled and announced at a later date.

KUEHNER, Elizabeth A., 84, of Tucson, died Thursday, October 17, 1996. She is survived by loving husband, Harv; sons, Jim and Thomas (Carol) Slaughter and Gregory (Jayne) Kuehner; daughter, Toni Childers; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jeri Pause and granddaughter, Tomi Payne. Mrs. Kuehner was a member of Eastern Star #959, Jeptha Shrine #75, and the Arizona Mayflower Society. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. at Magee, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 20, with Scripture readings at 6:30 p.m. Memorial Services will be held at The Lutheran Church of the Ascension, 1220 W. Magee Rd, Monday, October 21, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Rick Mensing officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Springfield, IL. MARCY, Clarence C., passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 1996 at the home of his daughter in Napa, CA, following a long battle with cancer. He was 88. Mr. Marcy, a long time Tucson resident was born in Shattuck, OK on June 29, 1908. He worked in the shoe industry for many years and in 1950 moved with his family to Tucson and opened his own store, Marcy’s Shoe Store on East Pennington in the downtown area. He later sold that business and opened Cool Ray Awning Co. which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1971. In 1994, he moved to California to live with his family there. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helyn. He leaves behind his four children, Myia McBride (Richard) and Tim Marcy of Napa, CA, Sherrie Thompson and Pat Mike (Mike) of Tucson; and six grandsons, Kevin and Sean McBride, Robbie Levison, Tim Thompson and Trey and David Mike. He will be sorely missed.

MUNOZ, Gilbaldo L. 'Chichi', 56, passed away October 17, 1996. Survived by wife, Angie Munoz; daughters, Sonya Aquino, Christella Munoz; sons, Reggie (Mercy), Gil Jr. (Angie) Munoz; eight grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 20, 1996 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at St. Margaret’s Church, 801 N. Grande, with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 1996 at St. Margaret’s Church. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. TISDALE, Theron, Jr., 44, of Tucson, AZ, died October 16, 1996. He was an Electrical Technician at Hughes Aircraft. He is survived by wife, Mary Tisdale; daughters, Christy, Tristy, Tiffany and Kaleisha; son, Theron Tisdale III. Also survived by mother, Dorothy Davidson and father, Theron Tisdale, Sr.; brothers, Ardis Williams, Gilbert and Mitchell Tisdale; brothers-in-law, Robert and Jerry Blackshire; sisters-in-law, Linda Bell, Ruth Eugene and Wendy Morrison; and a host of nieces and nephews. CONFAR, Ethel Florence, died quietly in her home in Santa Barbara, California on October 9, 1996. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Thomas Charles Confar; daughter, Carole Confar; son, Thomas Gordon Confar and his wife, Nancy; and four grandchildren. A Funeral Mass was held in Santa Barbara.

GIGAX-MILLER, Regina E., 83, died October 17, 1996. Wife of Glenn Miller of Tucson; mother of Robert (Nancy) Gigax of OH, John (Sue) Gigax of Tucson, William (Alice) Gigax of Washington, DC, Mary Webb of Tucson, Judy (John) Ling of OH, Linda (Grant)Cummings of WA, Milton (Rosie) Gigax, Jr. of CO and Molly (Gary) Lanz of OH; stepmother of Eugene (Ruth) Miller and Sheldon (Lee) Miller, both of OH; 22 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren also survive. Beloved husband of Josephine Phillips; sons, Ronnie and Michael Phillips; sisters, Hazel Hinkle, Murl Moore, Madeline Yant, Marion Curmode, Rosa Lee Clevenger, Charlotte Fegley; four grandchildren; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Phillips was a member of Sabbar Shrine Temple Oasis Lodge 52, Tucson Scottish Rite Free and Accepted Masons, VFW Post No. 549, Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 180. TAPPAN, Edward, 75, died October 10, 1996. Survived by his wife, Germaine M. Tappan; four sons, Frederick, Lawrence, James and Andrew Tappan; brother, Robert Tappan; grandchildren, Steve, Eddie, Luke, Levi, Megan, Jade, Jamie and Scott Tappan; several nieces and nephews. Eddie was born in North Carolina and raised in Milton, MA by his aunt Olivia B. James. He moved to Arizona in 1934, entered the U.S. Army Air Forces (as it was then called) in 1943 serving in France. Most recently owning a horse and cattle ranch in Sonoita, Arizona. Memorial Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 1996 at St. Philip’s in the Hills Episcopal Church, N. Campbell and River Rd. Private Entombment will be at East Lawn Palms Mausoleum. TUZINSKI, Joseph Jr., was born in Elizabeth, NJ, on October 25, 1940. He also lived in California before joining the United States Army. Upon his honorable discharge from Ft. Huachuca, Arizona he remained in the area and moved to Sierra Vista, AZ. Joe initially worked as a technical representative for the Xerox Corp. He later accepted a position with Civil Service at Ft. Huachuca as a printer, transferring to computer operations and scheduling, and retiring from Civil Service as a Computer Programmer. In 1994 he moved to Tucson, AZ, and lived here until his death on October 12, 1996. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Tuzinski, Sr. and his mother, Anna (Stein) Tuzinski. Mr. Tuzinski is survived by daughters, Tracy Tuzinski of Tucson, AZ and Jodi Tuzinski of Miami, FL; a stepson, Rodrick (Rick) Tuzinski of Dallas, TX; two grandchildren, Tammy and John Paul (JP) Tuzinski. A Niche side service for friends and family will be held Saturday, October 19, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 S. Park Ave., with Dr. Wayne North officiating. Arrangements by BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.
