Beloved grandfather of ten and great grandfather of 12. Two sisters, Mabel Wright of Ackley, IA and Ruth Wikert of Iowa Falls, IA. Preceded in death by his wife, Darlene and two great grandchildren. Graveside Service 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October, 15, 1996 at East Lawn Palms Cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Rd., with Pastor Tom Lepa of Eastside Assembly of God Church officiating. GRAUL, Bertha Helen, age 99 of Tucson, died October 10, 1996. Survivors include one grandniece, Madeline Sexton of LA and many friends at Trinity Presbyterian Church. LONTO, Dorothea, 60, passed away October 12, 1996. She will be remembered as a dedicated and faithful wife to (RET.) CMSGT James M. Lonto U.S.A.F. A loving mother to Michael (Laurie) Lonto of Portland, OR and Jean Lonto. By her brother Joseph (Rosemary) Galinis of Succasunna, NJ; her sister-in-law Joyce (Ray) Galinis of Bloomfield, NJ, and as a daughter-in-law to Mary M. Lonto. She was a member of the CWOC of Davis Monthan Base Chapel. And her hobby of donating her hand knitted afghans to various organizations was done from the heart. Visitation Services will be held at 6910 E. Broadway, BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL on Tuesday, October 15, 1996 and Wednesday, October 16, 1996 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Rosary service will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 1996 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral service will be on Thursday, October 17, 1996 at Davis Monthan Air Force Base Chapel at 9:00 a.m. A Graveside Service will follow the funeral at Our Lady of the Desert Cemetery. MORRON, Willard R., 81 of Tucson, died October 9, 1996. Father of Tom (Patricia) Morron of VA. Grandfather of Elizabeth and Sarah. WERSTLER, Edna G., 94 years old of Tucson since 1948. Died October 11, 1996. Survived are her children, Joan (William J.) Hunter of LA, William Joseph (Esther) Werstler Jr. of IL, James W. (Barbara) Werstler of Tucson, Barbara Jane (Glenn) Hicks of Tucson, John E. (Gerry) Werstler of Phoenix; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild survives. Services and burial will be in Champagne, IL. Arrangements by BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

WHITE, George E. 'Whitey', 77, died October 10, 1996. Survived by wife of 49 years, Hannah; daughters, Freddye Johnson and Patricia Rose (David Van Winkle); grandchildren, Jacqueline Greenley, Thomas Rose; Duane Johnson, Collin and Amanda Van Winkle; sister, Ina Langley and brother, Fred White. Whitey was employed at the Pima Co. Automotive Shops for 24 years. Life member of the VFW, past Commander of Post #10008. He served in the China Offensive with the 5th Fighters Group during W.W.II. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 16, 1996 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to your favorite charity.

CHANDLER, Knowlton A. A Memorial Service for Knowlton Chandler will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Tucson on Monday, October 14 at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Chandler was a long time resident of Chicago, IL before moving to Tucson. Mr. Chandler worked in clothing sales at Korby’s in Tucson and was a member of many singles organizations. In his free time he volunteered to do the layout for his clubs monthly newsletter. A decorated WWII veteran, Mr. Chandler served in Germany under General Patton and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He is survived by his beloved sister, Marion Mote; two nieces; five great-nieces; one great-great-nephew. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society.

FERRARA, Donna, 57, died Thursday, October 10, 1996 in Tucson. Survived by one son, Michael Boyd of Tucson, AZ; two daughters, Guitona Schrader of Apache Junction, AZ and Elizabeth Hutchings of Tucson, AZ; two brothers; one sister; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Services for Mrs. Ferrara will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 14, 1996 at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway, with burial to follow at East Lawn Cemetery. GAGNON, Howard M., 81, passed away at the V.A. Medical Center, October 10, 1996. Our heartfelt thanks to the many caring souls who cared for him. He was the son of Henry Gagnon and Irene Fuqua, now deceased. Also preceded in death by brother, Gerald Gagnon and nephew, Charles Gagnon. He is survived by wife of 60 years, Kathryn; son, Dennis Gagnon; daughter, Mary Gregory and son, John Gagnon. Also survived by four grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by husband, Robert Glenn Miller Sr. Survived by her children, Robert Glenn Miller Jr., Bruce Lee Miller and Lisa (Thomas R.) Martinez; granddaughter, Denise Renae Miller. PETERSON, Katherine Edna, 88, of Tucson, passed away October 8, 1996. She was born in Long Island, New York on May 27, 1908, the first child of three children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin K. Peterson and her son Melvin K. Peterson Jr; brother, Elmer B. Andersen and sister, Cygni Staurseth; survived by two daughters, Elaine Mary Wicklund of Tucson and Lillian Adair Weekley of Minneapolis, MN; two sons, Kenneth R. Peterson and Paul David Peterson, both of Tucson; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; devoted friend, June Lee, plus a host of relatives and friends. Katherine gave unconditionally as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. BROUSSEAU, Leo Roy, 65, died October 7, 1996. Husband of Gloria Brousseau of Tucson; father of Philip Brousseau and Darren Brousseau, both of Tucson; brother of Joan (Herb) Van Slyke of Alpine, AZ; two nieces and two nephews also survive. BROWN, James Kirk, 73, of Tucson, died Tuesday, October 8, 1996. James was a WWII Disabled Veteran and holder of Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Survivors include: wife, Sarah T. of Tucson; one son, James Jr; one daughter, Cheryl Brown Corroll, both of Gas City, IN; a sister, Dolores Brown Diehl of Tucson; one adopted son, David Hawkins of Tucson; Rhoda Stackhouse of Fla.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. James enjoyed model airplanes and interested in aviation and jazz guitar music. Memorial Services will be at 4002 S. Thornton Ave, Tucson, 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.Saturday, October 12, 1996. CAPPS, Freddie Lee, Lt. Col (Ret.) U.S.A.F., 84, died October 9, 1996. Survived by his wife of 55 years, Grace Capps; son, Freddie L. (Cindy) Capps, Jr; daughter, Fredene L. CASEY, Leland W. T., 88, suddenly entered into death Wednesday, October 9, 1996. A native Tucsonan, born July 30, 1908. Served in the Army Air Corps during WWII, was a Tucson Police officer from 1937 to 1961 at which time he retired with Badge #1. He was then employed by Asarco Mines Mission Unit for 14 years, retiring in 1974.Leland was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Irene Casey and Edward B.Casey, Sr.; three sisters, Annette Kirkpatric, Irene Strelnick and Barbara Hurley; one brother, Edward B. Casey, Jr. Leland is survived by his wife, Viola E. Casey of Marana; sons, Kevin Casey and Ken Bowling of Tucson; daughter, Margaret Mary Gutman and son-in-law, Michael Gutman of Marana; grandchildren, Jennifer and Jason Gutman of Marana; niece, Danielle Brown of Seattle; and nephew, Michael Casey of Phoenix. Scripture Service will be at St. Christopher’s Church, 12101 W. Moore Rd., Marana Friday, October 11 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services also at St. Christopher’s Church Saturday, October 12 at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Graveside Service at Holy Hope Cemetery.
