DELAHANTY, Walter, 60, passed away on January 30, 1997. A Tucson native, he was born August 13, 1936. He is survived by parents, Carlos and Lydia Delahanty; sisters, Virginia (Vicente), Rachel, Carmen (Manny); brothers, Carlos Victor (Martha), Bobby (Cathy), Danny (Elaine), Louie (Lydia), Fernando (Bee), Armando (Frances), Roy (Archie), Patrick and Michael (Priscilla). He is also survived by 41 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. Walter served eight years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired from the University of Arizona after being employed for 35 years. Walter was a loving son, brother, uncle, great uncle and will be greatly missed. FREY, Carl Earl 'Pop', 79, born September 2, 1917, died February 2, 1997 following a long illness. Mr. Frey was a native and lifelong Tucsonian. He is survived by sister, Hetz Piper; daughter, Doris Frey and sons, Charles (Polly), Patrick (Katie) and Karl 'Chris' (Robyn) Frey, Larry, Jerry (Janelle) and David (Jacqueline) Bageman all of Tucson and William (Marilyn) Jones of Lafayette, Indiana. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Carl Frey was preceded in death by his brothers, William and Harold; sister, Pauline Denney and daughter, Carol. He was dearly loved and will be very much missed. Visitation for friends of Mr. Frey and his family will be Thursday, February 6 at BRING’S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. with services following. Private interment services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.

LANG, George W. Sr., 82, of Tucson, died February 1, 1997. Born in Buffalo, NY, Mr. Lang lived in Tucson since 1956 and worked with MJ Lang Construction until his retirement in 1978. He is survived by his wife, Doris C. Lang and Mary V. Lang, mother of his children, George (Margaret) Lang, Jr., Patricia (Ernie) Wood, Kenneth Lang, Mary Lou (Larry) Price; six grandchildren, three sisters, and a brother. LEWERS, Guy McNeil, 92, of Tucson, died Tuesday, February 4, 1997. He is survived by his sons, Boss and Bill; grandchildren, Pamela, Darryl, Harold, Sammy, Jenny, Linda; and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister, Agnes Halbert and brother, George Lewers. Mr. Lewers retired from Southern Pacific Railroad in 1971 after 29 years of service. LEYVAS, Andres B., 83, of Tucson, passed away February 3, 1997. Preceded in death by parents, Andres and Carmen Leyva; brother, Alfredo Leyva; sisters, Armida Munoz and Ofelia Arguijo. Survived by beloved companion, Eleanor Alvarez; sons, Eddie 'Big Ed' (Lamar) Leyvas and Andy (Marty) Leyvas; brothers, Arturo, Alberto and Arnoldo Leyva; grandchildren, Joann (Lionel), Eddie Jr. (Nora), Roxanne and Nathan; five great-grand children and seven step great-grandchildren. Mr. Andres B. Leyvas was a lifetime resident of Tucson. He retired from Pacific Fruit Express after 34 years of service. He is survived by three generations, Eddie 'Big Ed' Leyvas, Eddie Leyvas Jr. and Eddie Roman Leyvas III. He served in the Armed Forces During WWII. LYNCH, G. Louise, 89, passed away January 22, 1997. Born July 28, 1907 to Frank E. and Annie P. Snow. She was preceded in death by her parents, by husbands, George Hitchins and Jack Lynch; brothers, Frank and Howard Snow; and sister-in-law, Rose Snow. She is survived by brother, Edwin Snow; sister-in-laws, Corinne Snow and Isabelle Snow; nieces, Carol (Frank) Cain, Phyllis Lim, Wendy (Mike) Lee, Betsy (Joe) Lamb; nephews, Samuel (Margaret) Snow, Howard B. (Diane) Snow, Jr., Dana (Kathy) Snow, Bart (Tula) Snow; and several great nieces and nephews. Aunt Louise was born in historic Marblehead, Massachusetts where the Snow family has lived for many generations. She was a proud member of the Massachusetts Society of Mayflower Descendants. Aunt Louise was a member of St. Stephen’s Methodist Church in Marblehead and was active in The Lend a Hand Guild. She also belonged to Victory Chapter No. 157 Order of the Eastern Star. Louise married George Hitchins and remained in Marblehead for most of her life. She worked for Gilbert & Cole Lumber Co. and the Winslow Chip Co. Louise also operated her own beauty parlor for many years. After George passed on, Aunt Louise moved to Tucson to spend her retirement years. In Tucson, Louise married Jack Lynch, a childhood friend from Marblehead. Jack and Louise resided on Lazy S Street in Tucson Estates and had many happy years together. We all have fond memories of the family times together and will especially miss the holiday gatherings. We’ll miss the Spanish cream and apple pies, the pancakes on Sunday mornings, and those pink and white cakes from birthdays long ago. Aunt Louise, I know you are happy to once again be with Howard and Frank and you’re certainly right, 'old age isn’t for sissies.' A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 8 at 1:00 p.m., Tucson Estates Assembly Hall, 5900 Western Way Circle.
MALMSTEDT, Magnhild, 86, of Tucson, passed away January 31, 1997. Survived by her son, Hans-Ola-T. (Margaret) Malmstedt of Tucson; one granddaughter, Melissa Malmstedt of Tucson; three grandsons, Michael Green, Mark Green, Christopher (Robyn) Green, all of Tucson; sister, Inga-Marta Erikson of Sweden; brother, Sten Olsson also of Sweden. Mrs. Malmstedt was a member of VASA Order of America, for over 40 years, assistant librarian at Dartmouth College, a member of the Swedish Navy in the 1940's. McConely, Bess Mable, 87, of Tucson, passed away February 1, 1997. She was born January 31, 1910 in Virgil, KS and has resided the last 20 years in Tucson. Bess was a Christian and attended Mission Baptist Church. Widowed 13 years ago, she enjoyed swimming and walking and the desert lifestyle. After a lengthy trial with cancer, Bess died at home surrounded by family and the support of good friends. Services will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2:00 p.m. at Mission Baptist Church, 2101 W. MCCOY, Leslie Willard, 76, died February 2, 1997. Husband of Beth McCoy of Tucson; father of Patti (Bill) Hanson of Montana; brother of Gladys Hayes, Jane West and Ruth Carr; brother-in-law of Virginia Kolb; uncle of Debra (Doug) Jones and Jeffrey (Heidi) Kolb. Mr. McCoy was a World War II Korea and Vietnam veteran with 31 years career in the United States Air Force and 16 years of employment with Jim Click Ford. MCCUNE, Patrick Paul, 59, died February 1, 1997 at home in Tucson of natural causes. He was a newspaper man, writer, poet and photographer. Pat was born February 1, 1938 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio to Paul Farrell and Lenore Forest McCune. The family moved to Phoenix in 1951 where he attend West High School. He also attended Phoenix College and Arizona State University, and the Air Force Language School at Syracuse University. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1956 and in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1961. One of his assignments was to St. Lawrence Island, Alaska as a linguist monitoring Soviet air traffic. For 13 years he worked for the Yuma Daily Sun as a reporter, columnist, and feature writer. Part of that time he edited Que Pasa, the paper’s entertainment magazine. He retired from the Sun in 1996. He was married to Marty Midgley in 1982. They lived in Yuma until moving to Tucson in 1996. Pat was a talented and noted photographer. His writing and photography reflected his love for the desert and a keen interest in the culture and history of the southwest. He was also a supporter of the arts and enjoyed wide associations with musicians, artists, and writers. He assembled a remarkable art collection and a library of photographic books. His musical taste ranged over a variety of styles – jazz, popular music, bluegrass, blues, and Mexican, among others. He loved TV, the movies and surfing the internet. Pat is survived by his wife, Marty; he is also survived by his father and two brothers, Anthony and Bill, both of Phoenix; and by two children from a previous marriage, Mark, of Phoenix and Erin, of Arroyo Grande, CA; five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and his brother, Michael. Private memorial services are planned for Yuma and Phoenix. MILLER, Clesta Ottilie, 96, of Tucson, died February 2, 1997. Her husband of 75 years, Floyd L. Miller preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughters, Shirley Kratz of Tucson; and her son, Kenneth Miller of Michigan; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. During World War II she worked in the Engineering Dept. of General Motors in Detroit, MI. She was an accomplished musician, world traveler, active church member both here and in her home state of Michigan, and committed volunteer. She accumulated more than 6, 000 hours of service to the community. Memorial Services will be held at the Spanish Trail Lutheran Church, 8701 E.
