GUSTAFSON, Helen Arvilla, of Tucson, passed away December 14, 996 after a determined and spirited battle with lymphoma. She died as she lived with grace and courage, strength and dignity. She will always be a beautiful and precious gift to those who knew her. As a successful beautician in Tucson for over fifty years her true nature of caring for others was shared with many devoted friends. Helen was preceded in death by her husband Sigyr Gustafson. She is lovingly survived by daughter, Susan Lichtenhan; beloved grandson John Buehler II; cherished son-in-law Steve Lichtenhan, and many friends. The family will celebrate her life at a catered reception at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 19 at St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church, 3809 E. 3rd St.

HEIMANN, Theodore V. 'Ted', 75, died January 14, 1997. Survived by wife, Doris E. Heimann; children, Robert (Tessie), John, Daniel, Kenneth, Frank (Laura) and Karen Heimann; two sisters and four brothers, 10 grandchildren. Ted was a member of the American Legion Post 36, VFW Post #549 and the Disabled American Veterans. Friends may call Friday, January 17, 1997 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. KEELE, Linda (Camacho), 76, died January 14, 1997. Mother of Lawrence (Sandee) Camacho of Albuquerque, NM and Rudy M. (Norma) Camacho of San Diego CA; sister of Ida Seekings, Connie (Richard) Almada, Albert (Terri) Flores and Ignacio (Dina) Flores all of Tucson; five grandchildren also survive. Mass will be offered 10:30 a.m.Friday, January 17, 1997 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 300 S. Tucson Blvd., with Father Francisco Maldonado officiating. Entombment to follow at Holy Hope Mausoleum. KELLY, Larry G., 70, of Tucson, Arizona passed away January 14, 1997. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bette. Survived by brother, Roger F. (Joan) Kelly of Dixon, IL; four children, Nancie J. Lane of Phoenix, AZ, Judith A. (Robert) Wiedemann of Tucson, AZ, John E. (Stella) Schauff of Chandler, AZ and Marilee Schauff of Vacaville, CA; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many other beloved nieces and nephews. He was a Navy Veteran serving in WWII. Larry was a 28 year member of The Tucson Rodeo Parade Committee, serving as Chairman in 1984-85 and 1985-86, Museum Chairman 1973 and recipient of the Royal Irving Memorial Award in 1992. No services are being held. Burial at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix. Donations in his memory to Carondelet Hospice Services, 1802 W. St. Mary’s Rd. Tucson, 85745. KISH, Irene M. (Korbuly), 77, of Indianapolis, Indiana, died January 9, 1997 at the Tucson Medical Center in Tucson. Irene was a graduate of Szilagyi Erzsebet Gymnasium and worked at St. Vincent Hospital for 25 years, retiring October 1986. She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and St. Vincent DePaul Society.Survivors include: husband, Joseph J. Kish; son, Joseph S. Kish; daughter, Eva Maria Kish; two grandchildren; brother, Steve Korbuly. Prayers, Friday, January 17, 9:30 a.m. at Feeny-Hornak Keystone Mortuary. MOORE, Ernest O., 84, died January 13, 1997. Husband of Virginia Moore of Tucson; father of Robert Brewer of CA and Bkay Welch of Tucson; grandfather of Rocky Moore of IL and Melinda Welch of Tucson; great-grandfather of Samantha Moore of IL; brother, Roy Moore of CA also survives. MUNOZ, Frank G. Born November 2, 1903, died peacefully January 12, 1997. He came to Tucson, August 2, 1915, from Atil, Sonora Mexico. He married Lupita Cancio September 6, 1925. From May 1940 to June 1965 he was a Licensed Concrete Contractor. He was noted for his special custom quality finished designed floors, many of which are now historical homes. He worked along several well noted general contractors such as Del Webb, Tom Gist, Bush Bros., T.C. Wood. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Lupita; brothers, Rafael and Manuel Munoz; sister, Jesus Garcia. Survived by his beloved children, Art (Ramona) of Garden Grove, CA, Frank Jr, Gilbert (Mary) of Tucson; daughters, Teresa Sierras of San Jose, CA and Lydia (David) Figueroa; 20 grandchildren of which he was so proud, 31 great-grandchildren he loved so dearly; his sisters, Socorro Aquino, Dolores Lopez; his beloved baby sister, Erlinda Lopez; sister-in-law, Manuelita Aguirre. In lieu of flowers, donations be made to Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospice. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 1997 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. RIBACK, Jack, born in Portland, on January 30, 1924, passed away January 13, 1997, after a short illness. He is survived by children, Marilyn of Salem, OR, Morris (Paula) Riback, Nate (Kathy) Shechter and Jay (Leslie) Shechter of Tucson, Ruchel (Beryl) Smith of NY and Lisa Riback of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Oren Riback and Taylor Shechtor of Tucson and Brocha Ettel Smith of NY; brothers, Norman of Vancouver, WA and Fred of Portland, OR. Jack married Elaine Elpern in 1953 who preceded him in death in 1965. In 1970 he married Sandra Shechter in Tucson who preceded him in death in 1993. Jack retired from Sunnyside School District in 1983 after 21 years of teaching. Jack was active in a number of square dance clubs in Tucson including Western Whirlers, Diamond Squares and Square 4 Wheelers. He loved and taught his children the joys of camping and the outdoors. He was a long time member, officer and guide of the Southern Arizona Hiking Club. Jack also prepared taxes professionally through Jack’s Tax and as a volunteer at the public library. In addition to his family, Jack influenced many others including a Bevy of Square Dancer Partners. He delighted not only his children and grandchildren but also Sara, Marika, Nehala and Kamira with his jokes, games, teaching and wisdom. Oren speaks for us all when he says, 'Grandpa, thanks for being my pal.' Graveside Services will be held at East Lawn Palms Cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Rd., at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, January 16. SUPER, Andrew, 84, of Tucson, died January 14, 1997. BLACK, Joy, 67, of Tucson died January 12, 1997. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James H. Black; son, James Donald (Cheryll) Black of Glendale; two grandchildren, Cory and Jennifer; and three sisters; and two brothers. Mrs. Black was a 1972 graduate of the University of Arizona. Memorial Services will be on Friday, January 17, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 9252 E. 22nd St., with Reverend Fred Wood officiating. COLLINGWOOD, Sandra Gaye, passed away January 10, 1997 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Tucson of a heart attack. She was born in Akron, Ohio. She is survived by her brother, Ronald Graham of Altus, OK; aunt and uncle, Dorothy and Harry Reith of Tucson; sons, Frank Harvey of Twentynine Palms, CA, Peter Messina of Edneyville, NC, and Thomas Messing of Bullhead City, AZ; daughter, Cheri Heil of Saugus, CA; five grandchildren. She was also lovingly a stepmother to four children, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Sandra, an Air Force Veteran, worked as an LPN until forced to retire by disabilities. For years afterward she continued serving others as a volunteer, including working with the blind at the VA Hospital in Tucson. She had a zest for life that belied her many infirmities. She made friends quickly and, just as quickly, came to their assistance in times of need. Sandra was loved by many and will be missed by all. There will be no service.Honorariums may be made in her name to the donors’ favorite charity. Arrangements by ARIZONA MORTUARY.

DAVIS, Joseph Paul 'Jim' Born August 26, 1922, Jim left us on December 27, 1996, following an extended illness. Jim will beremembered by his family and friends for his kindness, his love, his humor, his honesty and his concern for the feelings of everyone who had the good fortune to cross his path. A Tucsonian for 40 years, he was the owner of JIM DAVIS ALIGNMENT. Jim is survived by his wife, Rea Dessart Davis; his daughter, Jill, her husband, George Nunes and grandson, Michael of Seattle, WA; daughter, Kitty, her husband, Tim Porter and grandchildren, Michael Paul, Lynn, Marina and Riley and new great-granddaughter, Morgan of Olathe, KS. Jim leaves two sisters, Mary and Margaret and 'his girls' Annie, Charity and Karie… only a few of the close friends and family who will miss the presence of this wonderful gentle man. Please gather with us to honor him on Sunday, January 19, at 4:00 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 4831 E. 22nd St. Memorials may be given to the American Lung Association or the Hospice Family Care.

FIGUEROA, Manuel L. 'Manny', 74, of Tucson, passed away January 13, 1997. Survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Aurelia Figueroa; daughters, Adelina (Eddie) Portillo, Gregoria (Manny) Ortiz; sons, Manny Fr., Luis A. Figueroa; sisters, Francis Villa, Concha Rivera, Bertha Federico, Rosalva Chavez; brother, Mike Figueroa; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. He was a pioneer jockey and horse trainer here at Rillito Race Track. Fist recognized Quarter Horse race track in the United States. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, 1997 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Friday, January 17, 1997 at 11:30 a.m. at St. John’s Church, 602 W. Ajo Way. Internment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. HAWKINS, Geneva, age 77, of Tucson, died January 12, 1997. Born in Cynthiana, KY, raised in Anderson, IN. Moved to Tucson in 1948. Employed by Delco Remy in Anderson, IN, Krueger Manufacturing and Browse Around stores in Tucson. A member of Catalina United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by daughter, Ramah Koleas; and her father and mother, Joe and Louisa Davis; brother, Joe P. Davis; sisters, Virginia York, Martha Anderson. Survivors include, husband, Joseph 'Joe' Hawkins; son, Denzel 'Denny' (Russellyn); daughter, Linda (Bill) Mason; brothers, George Davis and Frank Davis of Anderson, IN; sisters, Phyllis Vance, Louise Partlow of Tucson; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. HELD, Patricia Ann, 60, died in her sleep at her daughter’s home in Council Bluffs, IA on December 19, 1996. Patricia, a homemaker and former Council Bluffs resident, lived in Tucson for ten years with her husband, Marlow Held. Other survivors include five daughters; one son; one step-daughter; three brothers; two sisters; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and many friends and relatives. Services were December 23 with Elder Donovan George of Broadway Park Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses officiating. Burial was in Branson Cemetery, Loveland, IA.
