Employed by Delco Remy in Anderson, IN, Krueger Manufacturing and Browse Around stores in Tucson. A member of Catalina United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by daughter, Ramah Koleas; and her father and mother, Joe and Louisa Davis; brother, Joe P. Davis; sisters, Virginia York, Martha Anderson. Survivors include, husband, Joseph 'Joe' Hawkins; son, Denzel 'Denny' (Russellyn); daughter, Linda (Bill) Mason; brothers, George Davis and Frank Davis of Anderson, IN; sisters, Phyllis Vance, Louise Partlow of Tucson; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Beloved wife of Herbert Laing of Tucson for the past 41 years; devoted mother of Kim Espino of Tempe, Tim (Anita) Lang of Tucson, Dwayne (Jackie) Lang of Tucson, cherished grandmother of Stephanie, Peter, Bobby, Chrissy, Ben, Jennifer and James; great-grandchildren, Devon and Antonio; dear sister of Bob and Fred Henley, Patricia Henley and Margaret Worley. LUTTENBERGER, Marian Gallagher, loving wife and mother, passed away January 12, 1997. She was born in Lancaster, PA, December 18, 1930. She is survived by her husband, Robert; and the following children, Susan Prentice, wife of Bill Prentice, Wheaton, IL, Robert Jr. and Johnna Luttenberger, Cobb Mountain, CA, Richard and Kathy Luttenberger, Brick, NJ and Thomas and Debbie Luttenberger, Pittsburg, CA; also her brother, Dr. Eugene and Marilyn Gallagher, Lexington, KY; Elaine Luttenberger, sister-in-law, Lancaster, Pa; and 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Dorothy Gallagher. Marian was actively involved with the Welcome Wagon Foothills, Tucson and the Newcomer Club of Tucson. Memorial Services will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 4th St. and University Blvd., Tucson at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 1997. Inurnment will be in Lancaster, PA. MCINTOSH, Mary, age 84, of Tucson, died January 12, 1997. She is survived by her sons, Michael and his children Kelly and Ryan, and Craig (Barbara) and their son Kevin, all of Tucson; and her niece Patrice Ryan, JD, also of Tucson. She was preceded in death be her husband, Forrest McIntosh. She was a member of Ladies Elks and MENSA. Mary graduated from the University of Iowa in 1933 with a BS degree in Business/Commerce. She worked as an administrative executive for American Hoerchst Chemical Division for over 20 years. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 5150 N. Valley View Rd., at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 15, 1997. Burial will follow at Our Lady of the Desert Catholic Cemetery, Tucson, AZ. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. at Magee.

MOORE, Yndia Smalley, 94, died January 13, 1997. Widow of Col. James P. Moore. Survived by daughter, Dianne M. Bret Harte; grandchildren, James (Miriam) Bret-Harte of Costa Rica, Kittredge Bret-Harte of Milwaukee, Elizabeth (Charles) Lyon of Phoenix and Geoffrey Bret-Harte of Prescott; and great-grandchildren, Elyse Gardner Lyon, Oliver Moore Lyon, George Cooper Lyon and Gregory Phillip Bret-Harte. Services at 4:00 p.m., January 14 at Grace St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 2331 E. Adams St. In lieu of flowers donations are requested to Tucson Museum of Art, Arizona Historical Society or Southwestern Foundation for Education and Historical Preservation. POULOS, Kathleen Mary, 69, of Tucson, died January 12, 1997. Mother of Lydia (Frank) Heller of Tucson, Sharon (Tom) Schrader of Tucson, George and Joyce Poulos, both of New York; and seven grandchildren. Scripture Service Tuesday, January 14, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. at ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL. QUILICI, Susan S., 72, of Tucson, died Sunday, January 12, 1997. She is survived by her husband, Lee; stepchildren, Dr.Stephen L. Quilici of Cincinnati, OH, Timothy John Quilici of Richardson, TX, Susan L. Quilici of Simi Valley, CA, David Scott Quilici of Bothell, WA; brother, Estel (Willie B.) Slaton; and six grandchildren. Mrs. Quilici was a member of Tucson’s Sunny Sams, A Chapter of the Good Sam Club, and attended Valley Christian Church. Funeral Services and Burial will be in Greenwood, Indiana. Local arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY.

WHARTON, Gladys M., died January 19, 1997 at Tucson Medical Center from complications of pneumonia. She was born May 13, 1909 in Okeene, OK to Dr. Lester H. and Jeannette Barnes Murdoch. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, William F. Wharton. In 1938, the Whartons moved from Oklahoma to Arizona where Gladys continued her career as a teacher in the Cortaro, Amphitheater, and Sunnyside School Districts. She is survived by three siblings: Sylvia Matthew, Rosemary Traugh and Thomas Murdoch, all of Oklahoma; a daughter, Billie (John) Dreyfuss; a son, Jerry J. (Lois) Wharton. Gladys had the following grandchildren: Billie M. Dreyfuss, Las Cruces, N.M., Bette L. Moreno and Bonny Dreyfuss of Tucson, William A. Wharton and Gavin J. Wharton of Charlotte, N.C., Jerri E. Stallings of Tucson. There are four great-grandchildren. She was a charter member of the Arizona Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, an educational sorority. Also a charter member of the Unitarian Church where a memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on January 22, 1997. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her memory to the American Lung Association of AZ, 2819 E. Broadway Blvd, 85716.

ADAMS, William R., died January 12, 1997. Husband of Leah Adams of Tucson; sons William E. Adams of Tucson and Gary L.Adams of Long Beach, CA; and daughter, JoAnne Griffith of New York; sister, June A. Duncan of Tucson and brother, Ralph Adams of Oregon; grandsons, Christian, Travis, Jessie, Aaron, Michael and Patrick. Mr. Adams was a Army Veteran of WWII, decorated with a Bronze Star in the Battle of the Bulge. Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, January 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery. Dr. George Tolman will officiate. Arrangements by BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

AVILA, Antonia C., 91, of Tucson, passed away January 11, 1997. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carlos Avila; son, Frank Meza and grandson, Gregory Figueroa. Survived by daughters, Mary Olga (Oscar) Leon, Mary Louise (Albert) Cavigla, Ana Marie (Armando) Gonzalez, Cristina (George) Figueroa. Also survived by 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Terry Meza and niece and companion, Yolanda Avila along with many other beloved nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, January 14, 1997 at St. John’s Church, 602 W. Ajo Way at 12:00 p.m. with Mass following the Rosary. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. DUNNE, Ellen Beatriz Griffin, of Nogales, Arizona, died on January 9, 1997 at Holy Cross Hospital in Nogales after a long battle with multiple sclerosis. Mrs. Dunne was born in Tucson on January 28, 1932 to the late Thomas Francis Griffin and Beatriz Sandoval Griffin of the Yerba Buena Ranch outside Nogales. She attended schools in Tucson, Miss Porters School in Farmington, Connecticut, Briarcliff Manor College and the University of Arizona. In 1954 she married Dominick Dunne of New York City. They later moved to Beverly Hills, California where their three children were raised. After the murder of her daughter, Dominique in 1982, she founded Justice for Homicide Victims, a victims rights organization, currently with 10, 000 members. Her work on behalf of victim rights was honored by President George Bush at the White House in 1989. After many years residence in California, she returned to Nogales in 1990, where she built a house on land that had once been a part of her parents ranch. She is survived by her two sons, Griffin Dunne of New York City and Alexander Dunne of San Francisco. Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Nogales. The family has suggested that in place of flowers, any donations be sent to Justice for Homicide Victims, P.O. Box 2845, Malibu, CA 90265.

GONZALES, Paula M., 72, of Tucson, passed away January 9, 1997. Preceded in death by husband, Jose L. Gonzales; son, Steven M. Gonzales; grandson, Frankie D. Gonzales; brothers, Onofre Montano and Crecencio Montano. Survived by daughters, Nellie (Brett), Rosa (Armando), Mary Jessie (Elias), Ramona (Alex); sons, Mario (Jenny), Luis Armando (Bertha), Jose M., Guadalupe (Frances); sisters, Rosa M. Encinas, Maria Montano, Tillie Lopez, Licha N. Zuniga; brother, Ediberto Montano. Also survived by 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 13, 1997 from 3:00 p.m. until Mass time at 826 W.
