HALBACH, Eugene J., 77, of Marana, passed away January 3, 1997. Preceded in death by sister, Ruth Retzinger; and brother, William Halbach. Survived by wife, Anita Halbach; daughters, Dianne Gossman, Judy (Reggie) Guy, Mary Halbach; sons, Kenneth (Susan), Ronald (Avis), Gerald (Connie), Theodore (Sandra) Halbach; brothers, Richard (Edria), Harold (Violet), Donald (Marilyn) Halbach; 17 grandchildren. Mr. Halbach was a longtime Wisconsin and Arizona dairyman and poultry fancier; he also was a life-long Wisconsin and Arizona sport fan. He served on the Arizona Pesticide Board and member of the Holstein Association U.S.A. He was President of the Arizona Holstein Association. Visitation will be held Monday, January 6, 1997 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (Center Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. Mass will be offered on Tuesday, January 7, 1997 at 10:30 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Church, 1946 E. Lee. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.

SCHMUECKER, Dorothy A., 86, of Tucson, died January 1, 1997. Survivors include: Frank Schmuecker; grandchildren, Danna M. Schmuecker and Megan E. Schmuecker of Tucson and niece, Lori Farber of Chicago, IL. Dorothy was an active member of the Tucson Board of Realtors for over 20 years. She was also a member of Kappa Delta Phi, Mu Alpha Chapter for 40 years. She was a devoted member, holding all offices and continued to participate even while confined to a wheelchair. She will be truly missed. Memorial Mass will be at St. Peter and Paul, 11:00 a.m. January 6, 1997. Interment will be at Chicago, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations to your favorite charity. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway).

VERNON, James J., 74, died January 1, 1997. Survived by his wife, Elizabeth Vernon. Mr. Vernon was the only child of James and Ollie (Ricks) Vernon and was born October 19, 1922 in Oak Grove, LA. He received his elementary and high school education in Borger, TX. After four years service in the Navy in the Pacific during WWII, he attended the University of New Mexico where he received a BS Degree in Speech. He was married to the former Elisabeth Wood, June 30, 1946. In 1953 Mr. and Mrs. Vernon moved to Tucson where he was employed by American Chicle Company as a sales representative until his retirement in 1977. He was a member of Catalina United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #36 and active in the democratic party. Memorial Services will be held 1:30 p.m Monday, January 6, 1997 at Catalina United Methodist Church Chapel, 2700 E. Speedway, Rev. Ravin Gaston officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Tucson Humane Society, The Community Food Bank or Catalina United Methodist Church. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd.

KIRWAN, Anna G., 83, of Tucson and Green Valley, died January 1, 1997. Survivors include son, Thomas E. Kirwan of San Diego, formerly of Tucson; son, Robert A. Kirwan of North Collins, NY; son, John P. Kirwan of Tonawanda, NY; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. She had been a member of Green Valley Aquabelles for over 20 years. Funeral Mass was held at Holy Hope January 4, 1997, 11:00 a.m. Burial followed at Holy Hope. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association. METHENEY, Wilbert D. 'Bunk', 85, of Tucson, passed away January 4, 1997. Survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret J. Metheney; sisters, Vera Moore of Tucson, Virginia McFerren of Waterford, OH; many nieces and nephews. Service Tuesday, 11:00 a.m., EVERGREEN MORTUARY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile, with Rev. MONJE, Rosaura Alvarez, 75, died January 4, 1997 in Tucson. Survived by five sons, Edward A. Monje, William A. Monje, Robert A. Monje, Arthur A. Monje, Richard D. Monje; two brothers, Leopoldo Alvarez, Alfonso Alvarez; one sister, Estela Alvarez; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Eduardo Monje; two brothers, Edgardo Alvarez and Ernesto Alvarez; and two sisters, Cruz DeLaossa, Herminia Valencia. Mass for Mrs. Monje will be said Tuesday, January 7, 1997 at St. Ambrose Church, 300 S. Tucson Blvd at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be Monday, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. Ambrose Church where Rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at Holy Hope Cemetery. Family suggests donations to be made to either Villa Maria and/or Beacon Foundation. Family wishes to thank all the staff at Villa Maria for all their kindness and care. MUNIZ, Emil L., 62, of Tucson, died January 4, 1997. He is survived by wife, Carla; son, Keith Muniz of Tucson; stepchildren, Jodie Jimenes of Tucson; Vincent Lupo of San Diego, CA; Nicole (Tom) Ollar of Glendale, AZ; mother, Julia Muniz of Tucson; grandchildren, Brandon and Anthony; brothers, Joseph (Norma) of Tucson and William (Georgann) of Tucson. He was the manager of the Highway Chef Restaurant for 23 years. Friends may call on Monday, January 6 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2545 N. Tucson Blvd., (one block North of Grant). Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME. Interment will follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. SIERACKI, Stanley E., October 26, 1935 – January 3, 1997. After fighting a long hard battle, the Lord said 'Stan, it is time to come Home.' Stan was a wonderful husband and a great father and grandfather. He put a smile on the faces of all who knew him. He is survived by Angie, his wife of 38 years; daughter, Gail; son, Dwayne (Rebecca); grandchildren, Nichole, Bryan, and Michael; and sister, Carol Necklen. Stan was the founder and co-owner of Al-Brite Janitorial for 20 years with partner and best friend, Tom Tilford. He was a deacon and a member of 22nd St Baptist Church, a member of the Arizona Polish Club, a member of Tucson Wilmot Lions Club, and also the New Heart Society. We will celebrate his life as he did on Tuesday, January 7, 1997 at 10:30 a.m. at 22nd St Baptist Church, 6620 E 22nd St. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Arizona Heart and Lung Transplant Fund, and the University of Arizona Heart Center.

SUTTON, Virginia J., 44, died January 4, 1997. Wife of Ron Sutton. Mother of Holly Hull and Ronald Hull, both of Tucson. Sister of Wanda Cole and Carolyn McGinnis, both of Tucson. Stepdaughter of James and Betty Ott of Tucson. In lieu of flowers donations to the Diabetes Association, Inc., 40 N Swan Ste 116, Tucson, AZ, 85711 would be appreciated. TILLBERG, Ingeborg C., 94, of Tucson, died January 4, 1997. Survivors include one daughter, Evelyn (Weldon) Sebree; two grandsons, Craig (Sharyn) and Scott (Loretta Peto) Sebree; great-grandchildren, Jannele and Tomar; plus numerous relatives in Illinois, South Dakota, New Mexico, Tucson, Canada, Norway, and Sweden. Interment will be at a later date in Oskarstrom, Sweden. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd (at Speedway).

UNDERHILL, Anne Winsett Carter, born June 15, 1934 in Champaign, IL, daughter of Herbert E. Carter and Elizabeth DeWees Carter, died January 4, 1997. She graduated from University High School in Urbana, IL and from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, with Phi Beta Kappa honors. She received a Diplome de Langue after a year of study in Aix-en-Provence (France) as a Fulbright Fellowship recipient. Anne married the Rev. Thomas W. Underhill in 1957. Ms. Underhill worked as a buyer at the Bookmark for 20 years. She served as one of the founders of the Book and Author Luncheon. Especially interested in children’s books, she devoted her life to promoting reading at all levels. She is survived by her parents; her sister, Dr. Jean Lave; her daughter, Karen Underhill; her granddaughter, Alyssa Mangelsdorf; and her niece, Rebecca Lave. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Anne’s name to the Tucson Area Literacy Coalition, PO Box 42136, Tucson, AZ 85733. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. WILLIAMS, Kennedy Alexander, infant, of Tucson, passed away January 3, 1997. Survived by parents, Michele Romero and Marc Williams; maternal grandparents, Janice Gerhardt and Jesus Romero; paternal grandparents, Vince and Ruth Williams. AGUILAR, Jesus, 100, of Tucson, passed away December 31, 1996. Preceded in death by sons, Alex, Manuel, Pete and Angel. Survived by daughters, Carmen (Ralph), Helen; sons, Frank (Eleanor), Albert, Jesse (Olga). Also survived by 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. CARPENTER, Joseph K., 66, of Tucson, passed away January 3, 1997. Survived by wife, Donna; daughters, Cynthia Koons of OH, Carolyn Brinkman of Flagstaff and Laura (Rick) Laczayies of CA; son, William J.Carpenter of WA; sister, Eleanor Rebro of PA; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by father, Claude; mother, Pearl and brothers, James and John. He was a life long resident of AZ, a Navy veteran of the Korean War and was in hospital administration in Tucson, Flagstaff and Willcox. DABLER, Matthew James, 28, of Tucson, died January 2, 1997. Loving son of Jerry and Connie Dabler; beloved brother of Carig (Delia) Dabler; grandson of Mary Sue Dabler and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. KRUSE, Wilbur, 74, died December 23, 1996. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary C. Kruse in 1993. Left behind family members, Keith (Rita) Colvert, Rose Colvert and Barb (George) Stallings; care giver, Lorraine Tassi. Wilbur was a 45 year resident of Tucson, employed at Hughes Aircraft for many years. Had been a volunteer for many civic associations. LOPEZ, Adelina S., 80, of Tucson, passed away January 2, 1997. Survived by children, Estella (Ramon) Manzando, Lindy (Eleanor) Lopez, Arcelia Padilla, Ramona (Joaquin) Romero, Cecilia (Carlos) Alegria, Victor(Arlene) Lopez; sisters, Mary Figueroa of Phoenix, Cruz Robles of Chandler, AZ, Hermina (Joe) Gomez of Coolidge and Sally (William) Ramirez of Phoenix. Also survived by 24 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, January 6, 1997 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at ARIZONA MORTUARY, 7 E. University Blvd. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 7, 1997 at Our Lady Queen of All Saints, 2915 E. 36th St. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery.
