Walker Jr., Rodney Walker, Carolyn Lewis and Laura Pokrant all of Tucson and Katherine Rushing of Oracle; 12 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter also survive. He was a member of the Teamsters Local #310. Funeral Services, 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 6, 1997 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway, with Rev. Dave Stevens officiating and Ft. Huachuca Honor Guard. Interment to follow at Tucson Memorial Park, East Lawn. Friends may call from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.Sunday, January 5 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL. WARNER, Dorothy M., 80, a 47 year resident of Tucson, passed away January 2, 1997. Born January 30, 1916 in Forestville, Connecticut. Pre-deceased by her husband, Eugene and her son, Eugene. Survived by sons, Bill (Helen), John (Linda), Chuck(Janice), Tom and Gary Warner; daughter, JoAnn (Marvin) Singer; 34 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 7, 1997 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Ave. Funeral Service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL. ZAGST, John A., 75, of Tucson, died January 2, 1997. Survivors include: wife, Mary of Tucson; daughters, Catherine (Richard) Tinkler, Tucson, Judy (David) Bradt, Whittier, CA; sisters, Josephine Madden, Tucson, Helen Beer, Plano, Texas; granddaughter, Allison Tinkler. Mr. Zagst worked for Sundt Bros. Construction for several years. He had been a resident of Tucson for 57 years. Mr and Mrs. Zagst have been married for 46 years. DIMSDALE, Beatrice, born, January 6, 1910, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, died December 27, 1996. Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence. She is survived by sons, William Dimsdale of Pennsylvania, Robert Dimsdale of Maryland; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a niece, Bette Phillips of New Hampshire; a grandnephew; a grandniece; four great-grandnephews and one great-grandniece, all of New Hampshire. Beatrice graduated from Chatham College for Women in Pittsburgh and earned an MA at the University of Pittsburgh, and was a retired social worker. During her lifetime Bea was active in the League of Women Voters of Tucson, was a Charter Member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers, Southern Arizona Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers, Common Cause, Arizona Civil Liberties Union, United Nations Association, Sierra Club, Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum and Temple Emanu-El of Tucson. Graveside Services at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 1997 at Temple Emanu-El Memorial Park, Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials: League of Women Voters of Tucson, Arizona Civil Liberties Union, United Nations Association, Tucson Memorial Society or Temple Emanu-El.

DUBIS, Gertrude E., 74, passed away January 1, 1997. Survived by husband, Edward; son, Richard and his wife, Elizabeth and their sons, Christian and Nicholas; son, Edward M. and daughter, Christine Stone and her husband, Kenneth and their son, Robert. Rosary will be on Saturday, January 4, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hudgel’s SWAN FUNERAL HOME, 22nd & Swan. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 12 noon. Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 215 S. Craycroft with Entombment to follow at All Faiths Memorial Park. ELLIOTT, Carole 'Arlene', age 63, died at home on December 31, 1996 after a valiant battle with cancer. Arlene (or Merm as she was lovingly known by her grandchildren) was born on December 12, 1933 and moved to Tucson with her husband in 1955 from Columbus, Oh. She worked at Tucson Medical Center for 26 years and retired as Director of Financial Services in December 1993. She was preceded in death by five weeks by her beloved father Alva Rector. Survived by her husband of 43 years Claude 'Larry' Elliott; her children Sue (David) Smith of Longmont, CO, Edward Elliott, Laura Elliott of Tucson, Allysun (Dale) Berg of Okinawa, and her former daughter-in-law, Robin Boren who was truly one of her children; eleven grandchildren, Ben, Crystal, Amy, Sunny, Cavin, Krysten, Allysha, Elliott, Mason, Nick, and Logan; her mother Iona Straight Rector; sisters Diane (George) Tietz and Judy (Jim) Moore, all of Tucson; nephews, Jeff, Jason, Dan (Marydale) and Roger; her uncles Herb Rector, Frank (Wilda) Rector; and her aunts Jane Donaldson and Clara (Wayne) Bennett. Other children who touched her life and became her own include Karen Pogue and Marissa Mueller. Ermalene Hartnett, Pam Benedict and Diane Kelly were her special friends who were by her side, along with her family, when she went to her angels. Her love was also enriched by her very special friends from Tucson Medical Center and 22nd Street Baptist Church, along with lifelong friends around the country. Arlene was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife and mother, and a devoted grandmother. She became special to every single life she touched and gave her love and support easily. Arlene will be sadly missed and will remain in the hearts of us all. Memorial Service to be held on Friday, January 3, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. at 22nd Street Baptist Church (6620 E. 22nd St., Tucson, AZ 85710), Open House following at the Elliott home. FOSSLER, Van H., D.O., 97, a 50 year resident of Tucson, died January 1, 1997. Survived by niece, Sylvia Tudor of CA; two grandnieces and two grandnephews; three great-grandnieces and nephews; long time caregivers, Dana and Clara Stigers. Dr. Fossler was co-founder of Tucson General Hospital and practiced from 1947 – 1970. At his request there will be no services.Remembrances may be made to the Salvation Army. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY.

HICKS, Dwight Benjamin, 73, went to be with God on December 31, 1996. Born in Perry, Iowa in 1923. Dwight was met in Heaven by brothers, Harley, Lynn, Kenneth and Dale; sister, Nadine and first wife, Betty, from whom he was widowed in the 1950's. An Army anti-tank gunner in the European Theatre during WWII, Dwight later benefited from the GI Bill, graduating from the University of Missouri School of Journalism. He served as as Night City Editor in Pensacola, Florida, before being hired by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company to start the company wide internal organ, the TELEGAZETTE. He was supervisor in the Company’s Public Relations department for years thereafter, retiring from the phone company in 1984. Since then, he and Jo, his wife of 34 years, have spent summers in a motorhome by a Minnesota lake, and winters among legions of newfound friends in Arizona. Courageously battling a variety of potentially fatal illness without complaint for a number of years, 'DB'was an intelligent, warm, compassionate, talented and loyal friend to all who knew him. His presence and his wit will be missed by wife, Jo; son, David; stepsons, Alan, Keith and Steven; stepdaughter, Sharon; and godsons, Pagliaci and Hobart. The family extends their gratitude for the constant and loving care provided during Dwight’s last days in this realm by the staffs of El Dorado Hospital, Manor Care Nursing Home, and the Integra Hospice. Memorial Service will be Saturday, January 4, 1997 at Trails West Club House, 8401 S. Kolb. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to the American Cancer Society, The University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ 85724-0001. Arrangements by WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway 881-0338.

MCCRAKEN, Erin Marie, 34, of Tucson, passed away January 1, 1997 after a brief illness. Survived by husband Robert; parents Albert and Joan Downey of Tucson; brothers Paul of San Diego, CA and Bryan of Danville, CA; sister Mary of San Ramon, CA; mother-in-law Dorothy of Westminster, CA; stepchildren Glenn and Jilliane of Tucson; two grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, cousins, two nieces and four nephew. Erin was a home health physical therapist in Tucson for nine years. She was dedicated to her patients and earned a reputation for providing outstanding care. Erin loved to bowl and spend hours reading. She will be greatly missed. A private memorial is scheduled. Donations in lieu of flowers to Easter Seals.

McNEILL, Libby Marguerite, passed away Monday, December 23, 1996. Born April 23, 1901. The daughter of Thomas Franklin McNeill and Nannie Giles McNeill at Tuscola, IL. She attended Champaign Public Schools and the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. She was a person of many talents. She taught school at Menominee, Michigan and was Secretary in the Presidents office at the Century of Progress in Chicago from the time the first spadeful of dirt was turned until the last structure was demolished. She kept in touch with many friends made here for over a period of 50 years. She first came to Arizona in 1936 as Secretary – Hostess at Beaver Creek Ranch, Rimrock, located between Cottonwood and Sedona, where she fell in love with the state. During World War II she moved to California with a Chicago firm of Architectural Engineers under contract with the navy to build the ammunition and net depot at Seal Beach. After three years back in the Chicago area she returned to Arizona settling in Tucson, where she opened her handcrafted leather shop at Desert House, later moving with Tom Bahti Indian Shops near the U. of A. Campus. She was occupational therapist at Oshrin Indian Hospital for 16 years before retirement. She may be best remembered for her ready wit and humor and her original sayings. She gave freely of her time in volunteering mostly in hospitals. She was a member of Southern Arizona Scottish Society and the Clan MacNeill Association of America, and had hoped to attend the International Reunion held every 10 years. This year, in August at Castleray, Isle of Barra and Edinburgh, Scotland. She is survived by her sister, Clara McNeill Parker of Tucson; two nephews, Thomas Edward McNeill (Betty) Santa Clarita, CA and William Giles McNeill, Shell Beach, CA; and grand nieces and nephews; one brother-in-law, Russell Floyd Everett of Galva, IL; and his son, Richard Keith Everett (Dorothy) of Cambridge, IL. Services were delayed pending arrival of relatives. Memorial Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 1997 at ADAIR FUNERAL CHAPEL, Dodge – Speedway, with Rev. Hal Cowart of the Catalina United Methodist Church conducting. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or organization of choice.

MESA, Evangelina 'Eva' R., 70, of Tucson, died Tuesday, December 31, 1996. Survived by her mother, Artemisa Almeida; brothers, Alberto, Rudy, Alex and Jose N. Mesa; sons, Manuel A. Aguirre and Jose Gabriel Mesa; daughters, Melva (Ismael) Cecena, Diana A. (Carlos) Aguirre and JoAnn Mesa; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and all her spiritual family. Mrs. Mesa was a faithful member of Son Life Chapel. Funeral Service, 3:00 p.m Saturday, January 4, 1997 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Ave. Interment will follow in South Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday, January 4 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the mortuary.

MOSES, Paul Laurence, 14, of Tucson, died December 29, 1996. He is survived by his mother, Diana (Thomas) Shalaty; father, Richard E. Moses; siblings, Michael Moses, Samantha Moses, Anthony Moses, Ryan and Nicolas Shalaty; grandparents, Paul and Linda Allen, Agnes Moses; great-grandparents, Hazel Allen and Henry Boisse; aunts, Tanya Johns, Louise Moses, Marisela Allen and Missy Allen; uncles, Carl Allen, Eric Allen, Bud Johns and Steve Moses. As well as many other loving family members and friends. Paul was preceded in death by his grandfather, Winfield Moses; great-grandfather, Russell Allen and great-grandmother, Simona Boisse and uncle, Michael Moses. Although physically and mentally challenged, Paul was an honor student, gold medal winner in the Special Olympics and the love he gave and received by everyone will be greatly missed. Memorial Services will be held at HEATHER MORTUARY, 1040 N.Columbus Blvd., on Tuesday, January 7, 1997 at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be sent to Special Olympics, P.O. Box 82362, Tucson, AZ 85754-5362. NICHOLAOU, Pericles N., 65, of Tucson, died January 1, 1997. Survivors include: mother, Maria Nicholaou, Paradise Valley; brother, George Nicholaou, Scottsdale; sister, Pauline Knotsiotis, Phoenix; brother, Dino Nicholaou, Mesa and many nieces and nephews. PESQUEIRA, Jesus M. 'Gordo', age 76 years, entered into eternal rest December 31, 1996. Survived by wife, Elisa; children, Jennie (Andy) Jordan, Jesus (Adela) Pesqueira, Yolanda (Tom) Gomez, Albert (Elsa) Pesqueira and Alfred (Diane) Pesqueira; two stepchildren, Tony (Yolanda) Moreno and Elsie (Paul) Gastelum; 28 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren. Also surviving sister, Artemisa (WM) Garcia, Frank Pesqueria and Abelardo (Elsa) Pesqueira, numerous nieces and nephews. Jesus was a WWII Army Veteran, loved baseball, mexican music, good jokes and was proud of his heritage and his family. His sense of humor and positive outlook will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 5, 1997 at TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., 4:00 to 10:00 p.m., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Monday, 9:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Cathedral Church. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery.

ALVAREZ, Loretta L., 102, of Tucson, passed away December 20, 1996. Survived by son, Pete (Viola); granddaughters, Dolores (Ignacio) Dominguez, Josie (Jose) Valencia, Olga (Gilbert) Romero, Ramona Varela; grandson, Lucio Alvarez; 26 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; 45 great-great-grandchildren. CASTILLO, Aurora L., 59, of Tucson, passed away December 29, 1996. Survived by husband, Ramon Castillo; daughter, Gloria Alicia (Benny) Cota; son, Ramon (Norma) Castillo II; sister, Gloria A. (Tom) Vandenbroeck; grandchildren, Raymond Benjamin, Danielarae, Ramon III, Alicia A., Aurora A., Alexia, Roman; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and godchildren and other family members. She was a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She touched the hearts of those she met, may her spirit live on forever.
